Before Dixon could make a step, a big gray wolf jumped in front of him, to his complete shock. All his blood seemed to forsake him out of fear. His knees weakened and his eyes grew wide while looking at the gray wolf.
And then the gray wolf in a flash shifted into his human form which added to the shock in Dixon. “Who… who are you?” stammering, Dixon asked the man in front of him.
“I am the new Beta of this pack.” It was Drew who was in front of Dixon.
“Beta? Pack? What kind of creatures are you?” still with fear, Dixon asked in a shaking voice.
“Didn’t you know? We are werewolves. All of us are werewolves here including Lexus.”
The revelation added more shock to Dixon. “Daffodil, she should not marry Lexus,” he then said with worry and fear. He suddenly feared for the safety and life of Daffodil, not knowing fully well that Daffodil is a werewolf too.
“Am I right to guess that you wanted Daffodil for yourself?” Drew asked in a confirming tone. He wanted to make sure that his plan will succeed.
Dixon looked at Drew and nodded. “Yes, for a long time?”
“Then what are you waiting for? Get her out of here before it is too late for you to do so.”
“Why is it that you wanted Daffodil out of here? Don’t you want him to marry Lexus, just like me?” Dixon asked quite surprised by the encouragement made by the man at him to get Daffodil away from this place.
“Let us just say, I believe Lexus do not deserve Daffodil…” Drew said in a mysterious tone. In his mind, Dixon was a good weapon against Lexus.
Dixon furrowed and shook his head. “I don’t think that is your only reason. I could see that there is a deeper reason why you seemed to hate Lexus. Is it jealousy?”
Drew squinted his eyes at Dixon. “Lexus snatched everything from me. He does not deserve everything that he is enjoying now and that includes Daffodil!”
Dixon looked deeply at the man in front of him and slowly a wicked smile crept through his lips. “Will you help me then get Daffodil out from here?” he asked with eagerness thereafter.
“It depends.”
“What do you mean by it depends?”
“You have to help me dispose of Lexus first and then you can have Daffodil all to yourself.” A sinister smile came out so easily from Drew’s lips as he stated those words to Dixon. He watched as Dixon’s expression turned to complete shock.
“What do you mean? We will kill Lexus?” Dixon asked with disbelief in his tone and expression.
Drew laughed, too amused by Dixon’s obvious fear. “Why, have you not tried to kill a man in your entire life?” he asked Dixon grinning evilly.
Dixon shook his head. “No. I can’t do that. Ask me something else, but not committing murder.”
“Murder in this place is just an ordinary thing to do, mister… hmm, I am Drew, by the way, the former son of the Alpha and supposedly the next in line Alpha to take the throne, but because of Lexus, I became a mere Beta and just a second choice.” He stretched his arm and offered a handshake to Dixon.
Dixon who seemed to be still confused with what he heard from Drew, accepted his offered hand. “I am Dixon, Daffodil’s special friend for a long time.”
“We have the same goal, Dixon. To make this upcoming wedding between Lexus and Daffodil not to happen. Now, tell me, would you cooperate with me?”Drew asked while looking fiercely at Dixon.
“How… how are we going to do it?” Dixon cleared his throat before speaking.
“I have my ways. Meet me here tomorrow, at the same time as now and we will do what needs to be done. Consider Daffodil to be yours starting tomorrow night.” Thereafter, Drew run in a flash to the amazement of Dixon.
Still in shock, Dixon sat on the swing once again and tried to relax his senses.

The next morning, Dixon acted normally, as if nothing happened last night. He even saw Drew during breakfast as he was asked by Mr. And Mrs. Marby to join them in the dining hall that morning.
Drew acted as if he did not know Dixon, and just nodded when Lexus introduced him to the man.
“Nice meeting you, Drew,” Dixon said after nodding at Drew in return. He too acted as if it was the first time that he met Drew. No one around them should suspect whatever plans they have in mind to stop the wedding of Lexus and Daffodil.
That night, Dixon walked to the garden, and there Drew was already waiting for him.
“Are you ready, Dixon?” Drew asked immediately, upon Dixon’s arrival. He did not even greet him at all. His eyes were fierce and with a ray of determination.
“Tell me first, what are we going to do?” Dixon asked with hesitation. The truth was, he was getting anxious as he is not used to doing nasty things.
“You will know. Now, go to Daffodil’s room after an hour and take this handkerchief with you. It has chloroform and a bit of wolfsbane. Invite her for a talk at the lanai area. Once you heard the howling of wolves, it means we already attack the whole packhouse. Immediately cover Daffodil’s mouth with that handkerchief and try to get her out of here. A car is waiting for you near the gate of this packhouse. Now go!” Drew said after handing to Dixon the handkerchief.
Dixon accepted the handkerchief although with reluctance deep inside. He walked fast going back to his room, with his heart heaving fast.
An hour after, Dixon was already in front of Daffodil’s room, knocking.
“Hi Daff, good evening. Can I have a talk with you, say over a cup of coffee in the lanai area? It has been a long time since we don’t have a good talk. Before your wedding let me have a good chat with my best friend,” Dixon said with a tender smile at Daffodil.
Daffodil smiled and nodded. “Of course, Dixon. Wait for a moment, let me change my slipper first and put this book down on my bed.”
“Sure, take your time.”
Daffodil hurriedly get inside her room again and in just a few seconds, she got out of her room’s door. Dixon was patiently waiting for her with a broad smile.
