“You are getting married, Daff?” shocked, Dixon asked forgetting to accept the offered hand for a handshake by Lexus. His focus was on the statement made by Daffodil.
Daffodil smiled and nodded. “Yes, Dixon. I am getting married soon to Lexus.” She raised her hand where the engagement ring given by Lexus flashed through the eyes of Dixon.
Dixon stiffened as he looked at the ring flashing around Daffodil’s finger. “I see. Congratulations, then,” he said in an almost whispering manner, thereafter. He glanced at Lexus and nodded at him. “Congratulations too, Lexus,” he uttered with his eyes, Lexus could tell to be in a mourning state.
“By the way, Dixon, why are you here?” All of a sudden, Daffodil asked that broke the silence between the three of them.
“Ohh, I just wanted to relax and be away from the city and hard work for a while. I was informed by your Mom that you came back here in Cooks Island, so I chose to come here to also meet you.” Dixon smiled although it was such a smile that never reached the edges of his eyes. He never thought that coming to Cooks Island would bring him heartaches instead of happiness. There is no reason for him anymore to tell Daffodil what he feels for her, which he kept in his heart for a long time already.
“I see. Well, it is a good choice of place Dixon. Cooks Island is a nice place. You will really feel relaxed here. We can tour you around one of these days when Lexus is not busy with his work. By the way, until when will you be here?” It was Daffodil again who asked.
“I planned to stay for a week or two. Let us see if I could really extend my vacation to two weeks since you know how busy I am in the office. I left some important concerns there,” Dixon replied as he shrugged his shoulders and chuckled. In his mind, he knew that he might not even last for a week in this place while seeing Daffodil happily living in the arms of another man.
“I see. Then, I will spare some time within this week so that Daff and I could tour you around, Dixon.” It was Lexus who spoke this time while looking at Dixon and then to Daffodil. She smiled at him lovingly and held his hand.
“Thank you, Sweetheart. I know you are busy. It means so much to me that you will be with me in touring my good friend around.” She leaned on his shoulder while smilingly looking at Dixon, who in turn made a forced smile.
“You are welcome, Sweety, and no worries, I have always time with you and for those you value. Enjoy your stay here, Dixon,” Lexus caressed Daffodil’s head and then looked at Dixon with a sincere smile on his face.
Dixon nodded and released another forced smile. He could not actually bear seeing the romantic gestures of the two in front of him. He wanted to leave and calm himself; he wanted to release the pain that his heart is feeling at the moment. He thought Daffodil will be with him, when he comes back to Los Angeles, California.

When they parted ways after their hearty meal at the resort’s restaurant, Lexus and Daffodil bade Dixon farewell. The latter walked straight to his rented suite in the beach resort while Lexus and Daffodil returned to the pack house.
“Daff, did you not wonder why Dixon suddenly came to see you?” out of the blue, Lexus asked when they were entering the main door of the pack house already.
Daffodil glanced at her fiancee abruptly as if surprised why he had to ask such a question. “I did not think about that, Lex. Whatever reason he gave me when I asked him at the restaurant a while ago, a considered it as his main purpose of the reason for coming here. Why do you ask?”
“Oh, forget about it. It just suddenly came to my mind, because the way I looked at it, he has a deeper reason for coming here to see you,” Lexus replied as if in deep thoughts but shrugged his shoulders off after a while. “Forget that I asked it Daff. Anyway, I will go directly to the office of Alpha Father. Would you want me to walk you to your room?” he added.
Daffodil shook her head. “It is okay Sweety. You go now to Alpha Daedos’ office and then I will go directly to my room. I wanted to take a shower and then rest for a moment.”
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, go now, Sweetheart,” she said and then quickly gave him a kiss on his lips.
When Lexus turned his back and walked toward the office of Alpha Daedos, Daffodil sadly smiled while thinking about Dixon. She lied to Lexus actually as she too was convinced that Lexus has another purpose in coming to Cooks Island to see her, and not only to have a vacation. She saw the sadness and frustration in Dixon’s expression when she mentioned that she was getting married already to Lexus. She felt sad for Dixon for she knew beforehand that he likes her not just as a friend or a sister but more than that.
“I am sorry, Dixon, but my heart already belongs to Lexus,” she murmured while remembering the pain in Dixon’s face when she introduced Lexus as her fiancee. She made a deep breath and walked toward her room.
Meantime, inside his suite, Dixon has ordered whisky. He was having a drinking spree alone while thinking about Daffodil. He could not accept that Daffodil is getting married to someone else, especially to someone she just only met. He was with her for so many years, taking care of her and letting her feel how much she means to him. "Daff, I am sorry. But I cannot just let you go. I came here to propose my love for you and not to see you with another man. I cannot just let you marry that Lexus," he murmured after drinking the last ounce of whisky in the bottle.
