CHAPTER 34

"What?" Lucas almost shrieks. He's constantly blinking his eyes. And I'm kinda sleepy, so I'll deal with this tomorrow.

"I want you to marry me." My voice is a breathless echo. Yes, I really do.

"I think you're dreaming. Go back to sleep." He plants a kiss on my forehead, as he entangles him around me like ivy.

Well, that scent. His scent. Some years with him just wouldn't be enough — I want “eternity”.

I bury my head on his chest, as I fall asleep listening to his heartbeat. I could get used to this.. Hmm...

"Wake up!" He shouts, and suddenly I get pushed off my bed. What the fuck.

"What's wrong?" I look at him, with dreamy eyes, annoyed.

"Come with me." He extends his hand, as I take it and give him a firm squeeze.

He smiles at me, as he leads us to the kitchen.

"Close your eyes. Please, don't peek." He pleads. Okay, your wish is my command.

I close my eyes, as the pitch black darkness wraps me, and I hate being in suspense.

I hear some distinct sounds of plates clattering, and his heartbeat beating as fast as a train. I wonder what is making him that nervous.

"Open your eyes." He speaks, as I open my eyes, to see a beautifully decorated chocolate cake with vanilla frosting on the top. What is this feast about?

I look at him quizzically, as he smacks me with his hand on my chest.

"Do you always forget your birthday? It's annoying! It's 16th, you retard." He frowns at me.

Me? A retard? That word makes me laugh.

"Thank you for the cake, it looks... Umm, delicious." I smack my lips.

I take out a knife from the shelf, as I cut it in half. Goodness, I dig in the other half of the cake. I spot Lucas laughing. What gives?

"I'm... stunned to see you eating like a kid." He's still laughing.

"I'm a kid." I smirk, busy eating the cake. It's finger licking good.

"Oh, really? You're 259 years, and it's gross that I'm dating an old man." He makes a fake disgusted face.

"What can I say? People of all ages do drool over me." I grin.

He rolls his eyes, as he comes closer to me and rubs off some frosting from the corner of my lip, and then he puts that finger in his mouth and licks it. Woah... I'm aroused.

"What do you have for dessert?" I ask.

"Really? You just ate half of the cake! It was dessert!" He looks at me, shocked.

"I'd rather have you for dessert." I wink at him. Gone baby, gone. That's me.

"Okay. Birthday sex postponed to tomorrow." He smiles, and I scowl. Okay, he still hasn't mentioned about the marriage thing. Is he not into me? Or did he think that I made a joke? I'd rather, it's option 2.

"Okay, let's go to sleep. Tomorrow's gonna be a long day for me. I have an interview." I speak, yawning. He nods, as he walk back towards the bedroom, and we both flop down on the bed, facing each other.

He takes his hand caressing my stubble.

"This is spiky." He speaks.

"I need to shave." I reply, grinning at him.

"No, later on. I like it." He smiles at me, as I nudge him on the shoulder.

He's so adorable, I love it. I really wanna marry him.

We fall asleep, wrapping ourselves with each other.

Suddenly, the alarm rings. Oh, it's 6:30 am already. Okay, let's gear up.

I wake Lucas up, as we stride in the bathroom and brush our teeth. I think, Mrs. Reed has chicken ceaser in the fridge for us. I've to check.

I go in my closet, as I wear a place blue shirt, a royal blue tie, and a navy blue jeans. Okay, perfect. Lucas is wearing all black today. Jesus, the man is a Demi God.

We head towards our kitchen, as I rummage out the chicken ceaser salad kept in a glass bowl from the fridge.

I gently put that thing in the microwave, as I set the timer to two minutes. Lucas arranges the dishes in the mean time.

I get my gloves on, as I take the bowl out of the microwave as I proceed to distribute the food on the two dishes.

I dig in the food with my food, but Lucas seems absent minded and is fidgeting with his fork. What gives?

"Do you... umm, you know, have any weird dreams last night?" He peers to look up at me.

Okay! About that! Great.

"No. Not at all." I shake my head, denying all claims.

"Means, nothing at all? Slept like a log?" He blinks twice.

"Yes. Except that thing of asking you to marry me, nothing other than that. None that I can think of." I keep eating, as I hear his fork fall down on the floor with a sharp clank.

"You were serious about that!?" His jaw pops open.

"Yes. In faith, I was and I am. Some years of you and me together, wouldn't be enough, Lucas. I want eternity." I look at him, as I just can't assess what's going on in his mind. I just hope that he says yes.
