Chapter 197
Chapter 197
Bayonet's eyes turned sharp in an instant. He took a step forward, ready to charge out. "Damn it! Who dares break into Mr. Lockwood's villa? They've got a death wish!"
Kane's expression turned cold. He rose steadily to his feet and followed Bayonet out of the villa.
The courtyard was ablaze with lights.
Standing front and center was Cameron—the same man Kane had beaten up earlier that day.
His face was bruised and swollen, dried blood still visible at the corner of his mouth, yet he remained as arrogant as ever.
He had his arm around Lisa, chest puffed out, eyes full of contempt.
Behind him stood dozens of burly thugs armed with clubs.
Every one of them wore a vicious expression, their menacing aura palpable as they closed in with hostile intent.
Cameron, emboldened by the dozens of enforcers at his back, let the malice on his face intensify. "Weren't you so tough? Didn't you think you were such a badass at the restaurant today? Come out here now!"
Lisa leaned against him, her eyes filled with disdain and triumph as she purred, "You're a nobody who dared to lay hands on Cameron. You're practically begging for death!"
"I suggest you get on your knees right now and apologize. Then lick my shoes clean. Maybe then Cameron will spare your pathetic life!"
Lisa lifted one leg.
Bayonet's rage exploded instantly. "A spoiled trust-fund brat brings a bunch of street trash to strut around at Mr. Lockwood's villa? That's a death wish!"
Kane's face remained calm, his eyes utterly still.
Tonight, he was already irritated by his family's disappearance and the traitor's betrayal. These people showing up at his door were simply asking to die.
Seeing Kane's silence, Cameron assumed he was scared. His arrogance swelled as he stepped forward aggressively. "What's wrong? Cat got your tongue? Where's all that tough-guy energy from when you hit me?"
"Let me tell you something—today, I'm going to make you understand exactly who you can't afford to cross in Harborview City!"
"My uncle is Marcus! He controls Isabelle Group, holds connections and power across the entire city. Even the police and the mob show him respect!"
"You dared to hit me—that's an insult to Marcus! Today, I'm going to make sure you die in this villa!"
Hearing this, Kane's lips curved into a cold smile. "Marcus? Perfect."
"I was just looking for him."
"Didn't expect his nephew would deliver himself to my doorstep first."
Cameron laughed mockingly. "You think you can look for my uncle? You're not even worthy of carrying his shoes!"
"What's Marcus?"
"Nothing but a waste with a few dirty dollars!"
Bayonet scoffed, glancing at Kane and asking quietly, "Mr. Lockwood, isn't that right?"
Kane nodded faintly. "You're not wrong."
Cameron was genuinely shocked.
Marcus was a major player—the man who controlled Isabelle Group!
And these two actually called him a waste?
He raised his hand sharply and barked an order at the dozens of thugs behind him. "How dare you insult my uncle? Get them! Break his limbs! Today, I want him on his knees, begging for mercy!"
At his command, the burly thugs surged forward in a wave, clubs raised, charging at Kane with murderous intent.
The wind howled. The scene was terrifying.
"Idiots who don't know when to quit. Crossing me is suicide."
Standing in the back, Lisa's lips curled into a cruel smile as she began imagining Kane groveling pathetically on his knees.
"A bunch of ants dare to act arrogant!"
The next second, Bayonet's form shot forward like a bullet!
Bayonet was a battle-hardened veteran—these street thugs didn't stand a chance.
He moved like a phantom, his strikes precise and brutal.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
A rapid succession of impacts and bone-cracking sounds exploded through the air.
The thugs at the front couldn't withstand even a single blow. They were knocked down with one punch, collapsing to the ground in agony, instantly out of commission.
In barely ten seconds, all the menacing thugs lay scattered across the courtyard.
Bodies sprawled everywhere.
The once-arrogant enforcers now had broken arms and legs, wailing miserably!
The entire scene fell deathly silent.
Cameron's arrogant smile froze on his face.
He stared in disbelief at his fallen men littering the ground.
Every single one of these thugs could take on multiple opponents—they were elite fighters!
How could they end up like this?
Lisa was so terrified her face went pale, her entire body trembling. The mocking smile had vanished completely, replaced by boundless fear.
Kane walked slowly toward Cameron, looking down at him from above. "Your uncle is so impressive?"
"Then let me tell you something today—all the power he's so proud of is worthless in front of me."
Cameron stumbled backward in terror, his teeth chattering, yet he still forced himself to talk tough. "Don't come any closer! I'm calling my uncle right now!"
"If you dare touch me, my uncle will never let you go! You won't have a place left in all of Harborview City!"
As he spoke, Cameron's trembling hand fumbled for his phone.
Kane suddenly spoke. "Don't bother. He's here!"
"What?" Cameron froze.
Just then—
A low rumbling sound came from above the villa.
A black military helicopter slowly descended into the center of the courtyard!
The cabin door opened. Thorin stepped out with commanding presence.
On his shoulder was a human figure, carried like a heavy sack of sand.
He reached the ground and with one powerful swing of his arm, hurled the figure onto the lawn.
A dull thud. Dust flew.
Thorin bowed respectfully. "Mr. Lockwood, I've brought him."
Kane's gaze swept coolly toward the pale-faced Cameron, his tone calm yet oppressive. "The uncle you claim has such overwhelming power—he's here."
"You. What do you have to say now?"
Only then did Cameron shudder violently and stiffly lower his gaze.
What lay on the ground wasn't a sack at all—it was his lifelong backer, Marcus!
At this moment, Marcus was tied up, bruised and battered, his clothes torn to rags. He looked as wretched as a beggar.
Cameron stood frozen like he'd been struck by lightning, completely stunned.
Marcus, who wielded absolute power in Harborview City, had been reduced to this state?
Who exactly was this seemingly ordinary man standing before him?
Kane stepped forward, looking down at the disheveled Marcus on the ground, his voice ice-cold. "Marcus, tell me—why did you betray me?"
The bound Marcus struggled to lift his head toward Kane, panic and innocence flooding his face as he shouted, "Mr. Lockwood! I've been wronged! I didn't betray you! I would never dare betray you! My loyalty to the Mercenary King is absolute—I have no other allegiance!"
"The Mercenary King?"
"He's the Mercenary King?"
The title struck Cameron's mind like a thunderbolt!
His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground in terror.
