Chapter 196
Chapter 196
Kane's foot slammed into Cameron's stomach.
Cameron's two-hundred-pound frame instantly flew backward like a kite with its string cut, sailing several meters before crashing heavily onto the restaurant floor!
"Ow, ow, ow!"
Searing pain flooded his entire body. Cameron grimaced, his whole body convulsing. He couldn't get up for a long moment.
Humiliated and furious, he sprawled on the floor, spewing threats. "You dare hit me? You're finished!"
"I'm telling you, you're dead! Do you know who my uncle is? Cross me and I'll bankrupt you!"
Kane's expression remained blank as he walked forward slowly, lifted his foot, and pressed it down hard on Cameron's mouth.
Cameron couldn't move.
An icy voice rang out across the room. "I don't care who your uncle is. Today, I'm still dealing with you!"
With those words, Kane held nothing back, unleashing all his pent-up rage on Cameron.
Dull thuds of punches and kicks echoed continuously!
Cameron's screams rose and fell.
His once-pristine suit was completely shredded, his face bruised purple and swollen, blood streaming from his nose.
In mere moments, Cameron was beaten beyond recognition—his own mother wouldn't be able to identify him.
Lisa, standing to the side, had gone pale with terror, trembling all over, her face ashen as she cowered in a corner, not daring to breathe.
Even beaten to this state, Cameron remained defiant. "You dare hit me!"
"You have the guts to tell me where you live! I'll absolutely make you pay!"
Kane's eyes showed no ripple of emotion, his expression indifferent. Completely unfazed by the threat, he calmly gave his villa address. "I live here. You're welcome to come for revenge anytime."
Cameron committed the address to memory, his eyes full of venom as he spat viciously, "Good! You just wait! You're completely finished!"
With that, he limped away from the restaurant in a sorry state, supported by Lisa, fleeing in disgrace.
Customers in the restaurant turned to look, whispering among themselves.
"Is he crazy? He dared hit Cameron?"
"Cameron's uncle isn't just anybody!"
"Never mind how cocky this guy is now—I'll bet by tomorrow, he'll be dead!"
"I think so too!"
Everyone was certain Kane was doomed this time.
Kane's expression remained calm. He found a seat and prepared to order.
A server approached.
Looking at him with genuine concern, the server warned quietly, "Sir, you were really too impulsive just now. This Cameron has serious connections—he's not someone to mess with."
"Last time he got drunk and caused trouble at a bar, he beat up a cop in public."
"In the end, not only did the cop not press charges, he actually had to apologize to him and let it go."
"In Harborview City, very few people dare cross him. Maybe you should go out of town for a while?"
Kane simply nodded slightly and said softly, "Thanks."
He reached for his wallet, pulled out five hundred dollars, and handed it to the kind server as a tip.
But after this scene, combined with the weight of his family's disappearance pressing on his mind, Kane had lost all appetite.
He ate a few bites of food randomly, then put down his utensils, got up to pay, and quickly left the restaurant.
"Mr. Lockwood!"
After nightfall, Bayonet hurried back to the villa, striding quickly into the living room.
Kane's gaze landed on Bayonet. He asked in a deep voice, "Well? Any leads on Isabelle and Winnie?"
Bayonet's brow furrowed, his tone carrying both confusion and gravity. "Mr. Lockwood, it's very strange."
"We've spread the search citywide, locked down all checkpoints, surveillance, major routes, deployed all our intelligence assets, but Isabelle and Winnie have vanished into thin air."
"I've checked every surveillance point in the city, searched through all entry and exit records—there's not a single trace."
"I've never encountered such a thorough disappearance before."
Kane's expression remained calm, though his eyes had already discerned much. He spoke lightly, "It's fine. Continue the search with your people. Don't let up."
Just then, urgent footsteps came from outside. Thorin burst in, his face flushed with excitement, clearly having made a major breakthrough.
The moment he entered, he turned to look at Bayonet, deliberately showing off with a smug expression.
Bayonet couldn't help but laugh at the sight, scolding good-naturedly, "Quit goofing around. If you've got something to say, spit it out! This is a critical moment—no time for games!"
Thorin immediately wiped the playful smile from his face, his expression turning serious as he walked quickly to Kane.
"Mr. Lockwood, I've uncovered a major lead!"
"Following the remaining threads from Dreamhaven, I tracked down a local gang that deals in intelligence and took control of their leader."
"After a night of intense interrogation, I got some information!"
"The person who deliberately leaked that Howard was hiding in the underground lab was Marcus!"
"What? How could it be him?" Bayonet looked shocked.
Hearing this, Kane's expression showed no surprise. He simply nodded slowly. "So it was him. That explains everything."
"In all of Harborview City, it appears the three great families hold power, with Mateo's the Stervani family dominating everything. But the one who truly holds the most influence, who can silently lock down information across the entire city, isn't them at all."
"It's Marcus, who's been using my name to run Isabelle Group."
"If he's working behind the scenes to block information and erase traces, no matter how much Bayonet searches, he's bound to come up empty."
Bayonet looked stunned, his expression incredulous. He couldn't help asking, "But Marcus has always been extremely respectful toward you. Why would he betray you and conspire with Howard to set you up?"
Kane's eyes were deep as he spoke lightly, "The human heart is the hardest thing to read. Many positions and ambitions are never displayed on the surface."
"Past respect may have been nothing more than an act."
Bayonet nodded heavily at these words, his heart full of both lament and vigilance.
Thorin immediately stepped forward, his eyes sharp. "Mr. Lockwood, should I take people right now to arrest Marcus and bring him here for interrogation, to get to the bottom of all his schemes?"
Kane considered briefly, confirming the intelligence was solid, then said in a low voice, "If the information is accurate, go arrest him immediately. Make sure you bring him back."
"Understood!"
Thorin accepted the order. Without further delay, he turned and rushed out of the villa.
Bang!
But Thorin had barely left when a violent kick suddenly echoed!
The heavy villa door was brutally kicked open!
An arrogant, furious voice immediately followed from outside. "Bastard! I'm here for revenge—if you've got guts, get the hell out here!"
