Friday afternoon Frank and John came to my place before we went to my warehouse where the meeting with the other Mafia families will take place. Last night Frank and John cancelled on me so I didn’t have time to tell them about Cat and Nico. I could hear them walk into the house when Frank and John are together, they were loud or should I say extra loud. My office door was open so both of them walked in. “Hi Enzo.” “Hi guys how are you?” “Good” Both of them said. “Any news from Cat or Nico?” John asked. “Well, if you didn’t cancel on me last night you would have known that Nico called me yesterday and told me Cat is giving him a chance and she said it’s going to be the 5 of us.” “Oh, that’s wonderful news” Frank said. “It is but is she doing it for us or is she really falling for him?” John asked. I knew he would have the same doubts as me. “We will find out when she comes back but so far Nico is in seventh heaven, he even made a deal with my neighbor apparently his been after Nico’s house for ages so Nico offered him a trade his house for Nico’s house.” “Fuck that sounds like it’s serious with Cat then, I mean the house next to yours is nice and all but it doesn’t come near Nico’s house.” Frank said. “I know right that is why I think Cat is happy and will tell us so when she’s back on Sunday.” “I’ll feel better when I hear it from her.” John said.
"Okay John Okay we get it.” Frank said almost mocking him. “You two in some kind of mood today?” “No” John said way to quick. “Where were you last night?” “We went to an underground gambling game we knew it isn’t your scene so we didn’t invite you.” Frank said. “Okay and if John is licking his wounds how much did you loose John?” “Don’t want to talk about it. Let’s rather talk about the meeting this afternoon.” “Okay I think that is the safest option.” Frank wanted to say something but I stopped him. “Frank, we need to talk about this afternoon. Gallo is not going to be that happy that I’ll be taking over.” “You would be surprise he is actually misogynist.” “Yes, I know but it’s me we are talking about here.” “Yes, and what is wrong with you Enzo you will be fair and everyone knows it.” Enzo said. “So, I have your backing?” Both Frank and Enzo looked at me like I was crazy “Seriously?” Frank asked after a while “Yes Seriously?” “Off course you have our backing and you have Luciano behind you I mean we only need the Colombo’s and Persico’s then that is a majority Gallo can do nothing against the majority.” John said. “I know it’s just they will have a fit about me giving up my name as well.”
“Enzo whose life, is it?” Enzo asked very seriously “Mine why?” “Well, you do have big balls bring them out this afternoon, no one can tell you what and what you can’t do Enzo and you know that as well as we do.” “I know maybe I’m rethinking things.” “What rethinking marrying Cat?” Frank asked surprised. “Oh no I would never rethink that but taking her surname.” “You know that is the only way Enzo.” John said. “I know.” “Did you speak to your parents already?” “I did not my dad will probable hear it from one of the families if I don’t call him before the time.” “I would have thought you would have called him already.” John said. “It’s a more complicated conversation than I thought it would be.” “I know and that is why I was so surprised you said you will do it.” John said. “It’s our only way of keeping the Mafia families close and still have the Capone name out there.” “That is true and Cat’s father would have been so proud of you.” Frank said “I know he would have and I’m sure my parents will understand I’m just procrastinating.” “Well, when we get back tonight you will have to phone him.” John said. “I know and I will. Now what will they want to talk about tonight?” “Well first off all who’s going to take charge?” John said. “Well, that’s easy me.” “Okay then he talked about territory when he attacked Cat at the Gala.” “I’ve got that figured out, Marchetti’s had a very big cut of Chicago we can all get a cut.” “I don’t know if Gallo will like that I mean Marchetti’s territory was next to his.” “Well, it will make his bigger and give the rest of us a piece he can’t get the whole of Marchetti’s territory that will just be unfair.”
“See that is why you will make a good leader you still believe on equality and what is fair and what is not.” John said. “Okay what else?” “Gallo might ask you when you will marry Cat?” John ask. “You think he will ask or are you asking?” John was quiet for a second. “Well, I would like to know when you are planning on proposing to her and what the plans will be.” I looked at my watch. “Okay we have time let me show you the design for her ring?” “You already designed her ring?” Frank asked shocked. “I did.” I took out my drawing and show them the ring with 4 stones in different cuts. “A stone for each of our birthdays, this way the ring will represent all of us and her wedding band will be a plain band with little emeralds in which will represent her birthday.” John took the drawing and looked at it, “This is well thought out.” “I think so to I mean I will be her husband on paper but we all will be her husbands and by the wedding ring we will know it she will know it and I’m sure she will love it.” “I’m sure she will.” Frank said. “I have a tit bit of information when it comes to her dream wedding.” John said.
