Chapter 109 The Bomb {Rosie}

Chapter 109 The Bomb {Rosie}
 While everyone was busy watching the winged ballerinas perform, I was too focused on trying to find Kieran before he found me.

I turned left and right. My heart racing in my chest, my finger playing with the necklace he gave me to reassure me of the man I fell in love with.

I was preparing myself for the Kieran I would meet that night. This was the second time I hurt him; I knew enough about him to know I wouldn’t go unpunished.

But this wasn't how I hoped our first meeting would go.

“I could hardly recognize you.” The familiar voice dropped a sudden chill on my shoulders. I sat upright, alert and uneasy.

He spoke from behind me. The party continued in the background, a dark-lit room, and ballerinas dressed in silver and sequins dazzled the crowd.

I could hardly recognize faces in the crowd. This was the perfect setup to stab someone and scram, but I knew Kieran wouldn’t do that.

Would he?

“Regardless, I must say you look beautiful." He rounded me and came to stand in front of me, resting his arm on the glass table.

I swallowed and drew in a deep breath before I finally looked away from his shoes and looked into his eyes.

It was definitely Kieran, but he looked less organized. His hair was ruffled, his eyes sharp but out of focus. Was he drunk?

I pressed my lips into a thin line. I was surprised and annoyed at the same time. This was not the time or place to be drunk. He was in enemy territory.

“You’re not yourself; you’re drunk.” I chastised in a scolding voice.

His eyes narrowed into slits. Those piercing green eyes pierced right through me like a silver blade.

“I’m not myself?” He asked again with a little slur in his words. “You’re the one living a double life. You must feel proud of yourself.” Every word was laced with spite.

He bared his teeth as he spoke. “You managed to get under my skin and into my head. You executed the plan perfectly; you deserve the crown of your father.”

Despite the bitterness in his voice, I saw the moment of recognition hit him in the way his eyes widened. He was probably rewinding back to that night at the club, that night that changed everything.

“Something always told me you were dangerous; I just didn’t expect you to be a spy.” His jaw tightened, and his eyes darkened with anger.

My nails were digging into my leather pouch. I was barely fighting the urge to correct him, to tell him what he thought was right was wrong. To tell him I loved him, and it was because I loved him that I was willing to take this risk, but I couldn't speak.

My pulse thundered so loudly, I was sure he could hear it.

Talk! Dammit!

“You are not in control here; you need help," were the only things i could say to him but as i tried to get him to give me space by pushing him by the chest, he suddenly grabbed me and forcefully pulled me off the chair i sat in.

I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. I couldn’t even breathe or struggle to release myself. For some odd reason, a drunk Kieran could find his way around this place; he built it with his eyes closed.

I should have screamed for help so Berlo could find me, but I didn't want Berlo to find me. I’d rather get shot by Kieraan than see Berlo. I could not take it any longer.

He didn’t stop until we got to the rooftop of the building. Immediately we went to the rooftop. I heard a loud crash that made the ground beneath us vibrate so hard, the force sent me forward and straight into Kieran’s body. He didn’t let go for me and let me hit the floor; he helped me up on my feet and held my waist.

As I was trying to get my bearings, the fire alarm went off, and people started screaming and shouting. Was that a bomb?

I looked up, and Kieran’s eyes were still dark and unfazed, like it was something he predicted. My stomach dropped to the pit of my stomach.

A small gasp slipped past my lips as I pushed him away from him and immediately took steps back till there was a reasonable distance between us.

He no longer appeared drunk and hazy. His eyes were like steel. I could not believe it.

I covered my mouth with both my hands and shook my head slowly in disbelief.

“How could you do that?” I asked in a quiet whisper I found it hard to believe.

Kieran stared me down  like I was the crazy one. “Do what?”

“You bombed that birthday party! Innocent lives lost!” My chest was rising, my body shook violently from rage and fear.

Kieran simply watched me without remorse. So this was the boss of the Zanna Rosta Mafia.

“Innocent?”
