Chapter 108 Seeing him again {Rosie}

Chapter 108 Seeing him again {Rosie}
The plan was simple.

Return to Boston, get a way to steal the Veil prototype, expose Kieran and then kill him.

The only issue was….

I couldn’t do it.

There was no way I could do it but John’s life was on the line and so was Micheal’s, Lydia and even Valentina.

I’ve seen what my father did to those who betrayed him. Unexplained explosions, sudden heart failures, missing children. I wouldn’t live with myself if one of Kieran’s company was blown up and many innocent lives died because of me.

I just needed to find a way out of this mess.

“Are you ready?”

Berlo asked as he came out of the closet and walked up the small steps to the bedroom, already dressed and ready for our flight.

I nodded just as I hit recorded on the small Nokia phone I managed to steal from a poor worker at Berlo’s mansion.

He turned away from me and face tge full length mirro to check his outfit which would have looked impressive on some other random male but on Berlo, he looked like he was allergic to looking good.

“Erm, Berlo.” I called him quietly, testing the waters.

“Hmm.” He adjusted his tie in the mirror without glancing at me.

“About John….”

“What about him?”

“I was hoping I could change your mind, his grandmother is very sick and she needs him to take care of her. Please I beg of you, release him—”

He spun so fast, my heart skipped. There was no glass hiding his set of demonic eyes so they bore directly into me like he wanted to possess me.

The intensity of his eyes shut me up immediately. I tried my best to stop myself from shaking unless he would notice the phone I hid under the handkerchief.

“Please Berlo—” the rest of my sentence got stuck in my throat when he suddenly gripped my mouth with his right hand, pressing my hollow cheeks with his fingers.

“Listen, Rosie.” He sneered. “You lost your chance at getting a plea in when you left me at that altar. If you had married me, you’d be my Queen with the right to influence my decision but now you’re just a traitor who is being punished.”

My eyes watered. Saliva was starting to dropped past my lips to his hand but he didn’t seem to mind.

“Got it!”

I nodded quickly, tears already rolling down my face. He released me and stormed out of the room.

Immediately he left, I pulled out the small phone and saved the recording before dropping it into my handbag, placing it beneath all my other items.

One of the senator of Italy was celebrating his birthday at some location in Boston. A very weird choice if you asked me but it was none of my business.

As his number one sponsors, my father was to attend as a vvvip guest and we were to follow. To give the media something to rave about. But also to get their hands on the Veil.

In the plane, I was trying my hardest to relax but knowing I was going back to Boston as my real self, as Rosie wasn’t anyhow comforting.

Thankfully, there were no chances of Kieran attending the party. Especially if he knew I’d be attending.

I silently prayed that he wouldn’t attend. I wasn’t ready to face him.

“Over here!”

“Rosie Eleganzo!”

“A picture please!”

“Can you tell us where you were all those years when we assumed you were dead?!”

The sudden ambush of the press was expected but I still wasn’t ready for it, it’s been a long time since I’ve been in the spotlight.

There was a time I used to love it. Not anymore. Not like this.

Berlo being the worst gentleman to exist, he didn’t even try to protect me neither did he walk into the building with me. I was left at the mercy of these information hungry press.

Thanks to the guards, they would have mauled me all in the name of seeking an audience with me.

It was war but I managed to survive and go past them.

The party was already in full swing when when we arrived. The rich smell of luxury and cocktail, the cool breeze and slow jazz music. The usual elite party.

We found our space, specially assigned to us under my father’s name. Papa didn’t come so we were his representatives.

“You aren’t drinking?” Berlo asked. The way he looked at me with those narrowed eyes like he was on to something made me scared. I racked my brain for an excuse.

“I already drank enough at the mansion. You know how mess I am when I get drunk, I wouldn’t want to embarrass you.” I replied nervously. He didn’t seem like he bought my lie but he didn’t question me either so I took it as good sign.

“You’re right.” He said after looking behind me. His eyes turned hostile. “Considering your savior choose to show his face here, I wouldn’t want you drunk when you approach him.”

My breathing paused. My shoulders became stiff, the hairs on the back of my neck erected.

“W-what? Right here?” I briefly shut my eyes to gather myself and steady my heart beat.

Berlo looked at me scornfully. Suddenly, he stretched out his hand over the table and pulled my hand forward, wrenching my body forward as well. My eyes widened? They darted between his, confused and scared.

“Do not forget the lives at stake ig you fuck this up Elizabeth. You know how unstable I get with explosives.” He sneered at me, his eyes filled with hate.

“Try to play smart and watch how everyone you ever love pay for your disobedience.” After his warning, he stood and left me alone at our space.

The lights suddenly went off. I gasped i shock, my heart raced as I looked around, trying to figure out what happened?

Panic was ready until to take over untill the lights came back on but were fully directed at the winged ballerinas at the center stage, already posed and waiting for everyone to notice them.

The song began playing. I could just feel Kieran’s presence i knew he was in this hall but I was too stiff to move, to turn.

The first sentence of the music lyrics was “Is this who you are?”
