Dominick
Dominick
After months of thinking about her and now she parachutes into my living room accompanied by one of my main allies, I didn't believe this was happening, but it was true. Cecília was right in front of me, holding on to Andrey. I couldn't think of anything other than what was already programmed in my head, which was to invite him and the companion to stay at my house, but I never thought that the companion would be her.
When she disappeared I decided to break my marriage commitment to Camille and tell her the whole truth, of course, she wasn't happy, much less her father and this almost caused a war between our families, if it weren't for Antônio having taken the rules I would probably be dead, all because of a woman who had left me, which was also my fault I must confess.
Losing Cecília was the most painful thing I had ever experienced in my life, I thought this pain would never get better but seeing her again only made me feel more pain. I wouldn't let myself get knocked down again, I was the fucking capo, the sovereign boss of this mafia and it wouldn't be a broken heart that would take me down again.
After hours in my room rambling about past feelings I decided to go to my place of refuge, when I came down I found her at the door trying to leave and I did what I shouldn't have done, I told her that she would go with me, I don't know if that was a good idea, but it's too late now, she was sitting on the right side of the car in total silence and so we continued to our destination.
I took her to my village, to a small house that I had bought just to have peace, no one there knew me, it was a refuge for me and it was only a two-hour journey.
"This place is incredible," he said.
I was admiring the smile she had on her face, it was the same innocent smile as before.
"How did you find this place?" she asked and looked at me.
"In a moment of madness I left aimlessly and ended up here, and I had never felt so much peace in my life as I felt here, so I bought it," I replied. "Come on, I want to show you inside."
When we entered the cabin Cecília looked everywhere, she looked and commented on every detail, she was amazed.
"So you want to tell me how everything is now?" I asked, bringing a bottle of wine over to where we were sitting.
"I'm fine, I got a job, a place to live, and a boss who likes me," I said and took a drink. "And how are you?"
"I've been through worse times, I'm more centered, I just didn't expect to see you again," I said.
"I didn't expect it or want it either, but I couldn't do anything," she said.
"And what do we look like after all this?" I asked.
"We're not staying, we just need to get along for a few more days and then I'll disappear again," I said.
"He didn't tell you? You're going to spend six months in the city," she said and I saw her eyes widen.
She got up from the cushions that were on the floor and went to the balcony, she was very restless.
"I can't believe I'm going to have to go through all this again, this time I won't make it," I heard her say softly.
I got up and went to her, I was inches away from her body, and I knew she felt my presence and I saw her shiver.
"Please don't do this Dominick," she pleaded.
"How good it is to hear my name in your mouth again. I missed it so much, I almost died missing you," I said, leaning my body against hers and receiving a sigh in response.
"Nothing has changed, I still love your brother," she said.
"But you love me too, don't you?" I asked and she just nodded. "And Andrey?"
"He IS a boss and a very dear friend, but we have nothing in common," she said.
"So you're not together?" I questioned.
"Yes and no, it's complicated," she sighed. "Please Dominick don't do this, at least not until we decide what we want."
It was difficult, but I managed to contain myself and get away from her as much as I could.
"I'm trying to be as respectful as I can, but being around you after all this time is hard to hold back," I said, downing my wine glass.
"Since we don't have a choice, what do you say we take it slow and see what happens between us? Dot our heads. Maybe we forgive each other for the harm we've done to each other," she said.
"Okay, what about Antonio? I don't want to see him look bad," she said.
"I can't talk to him now, I can't, he's with my only friend," she said and let the hurt she was feeling show, she loved Antônio too.
"We have to go now, we've already spent a lot of time here," I said smiling. I think it was the first time in all these months that I smiled and the reason was the same, her.
"You have a beautiful smile," she said.
"It only exists with you," I replied.
Somehow, even without us being together I felt lighter, more peaceful, it was as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Her presence alone brought me peace of mind, even if she stayed with Antônio I would still be at peace, knowing that I would at least have her close.
The trip back was calmer, we talked, laughed, and even listened to music, which was strange to me, but somehow seemed normal to her. The problem was when we arrived home, as soon as I got out of the car and opened the door for her, Antônio was already standing there waiting for us.
