Chapter Twenty-Eight - Present

I couldn't concentrate on my classes as all the incidents swerved inside my mind throughout the day. Athereld's confession failed to reach my heart as I couldn't comprehend his reason for falling for me.

Nevertheless, Caspian's rejection had left me shattered. As I walked through the corridor, I could feel the eyes on me. A lot of students congratulated me on my debut. I could see the admiration in the girls' eyes instead of jealousy.

Cassidy had drawn a lot of attention as well. I noticed everyone's feed filled with numerous photos of my debut ball. Cassidy appeared happier than ever.

Cassidy hugged me before leaving for her violin class. It felt awkward since Cassidy felt so indebted to me. However, it was comprehensible since everyone treated Cassidy as a shadow all these days just because she didn't belong to the elite society.

A few girls encircled me in the corridor unexpectedly. I sighed, assuming it was going to be another session of school bullying.

I stared at the girls, observing their appearance. The girls looked like sophomores with their tiny features and cute appearance. I wondered if they came to bully me.

"Is this even possible for freshers to bully their seniors?" I wondered.

"Do you want to say something?" I asked calmly as one of the girls turned red as a beet.

The girl hesitated for a moment as she shyly tucked a lock of her short, bob-cut hair with fine bangs behind her ears. The girl abruptly extended her arms at me with a present box wrapped elegantly.

I stared at the girl confusedly as she said, "Please, accept this, Senior."

I noticed her voice quivering. I had no reason to accept gifts from a sophomore. Nevertheless, I didn't want her to get humiliated in front of the other students.

I received the present as the girl left happily with her friends, giggling. I exhaustedly exhaled as I could feel the dumbfounded eyes on me.

"I hope this is not a prank," I mumbled.

"Are you really worried about getting bullied by a sophomore?"

I was back to my senses as the present box from my hand abruptly got snatched. I hastily turned to come face to face with Eleanor. The smirk on his face widened as I frowned at him.

"Don't you think it's weird to ask while portraying this kind of attitude before me? Aren't you also a junior?" I questioned flatly.

It had been a while since I last saw Eleanor in school. His shoulder-length, dark cherry-red hair was in a tiny ponytail, providing him an enticing appearance. Eleanor fixed his glasses as his amber eyes brightened up.

"Why do you look so upset meeting me? I only came here to congratulate you since I couldn't attend your debut ball," Eleanor said.

"Were you even invited?" I asked, staring at Eleanor bitter, entirely forgetting his surname.

A sarcastic smirk appeared on Eleanor's face as shortly he returned the present box.

"You shouldn't accept presents from sophomores if you are really worried," Eleanor said calmly before leaving.

I stared at the present box confusedly. A small note was attached to the box that I hadn't noticed earlier. The girl from earlier wanted to meet me outside the school.

"Is this bait?" I wondered. "Why would she want to meet me outside the school?" I mumbled.

However, I went to the location after school. I could see a few thugs waiting for me at the end of the alley. The sophomore from earlier was also there, standing by the thugs.

Though the girl had tricked me into coming to that place, she appeared petrified.

"She took the bait, after all," one of the thugs, noticing my presence.

Nasty smiles appeared on the faces of the thugs as they stared at each other excitedly.

"Are you sure she doesn't have a wolf?" One of the thugs questioned skeptically.

My heart pounded hard in my chest. How did these thugs find out about my weakness? I wondered.

"The source definitely confirmed she didn't feel any wolf in her yesterday. Besides, this girl didn't shift even once since she appeared,'' Another thug answered.

I realized that I failed to t properly at the party, and many packs had noticed that I couldn't shift.

"What kind of drama is this?" I questioned calmly. I decided not to panic before them. I noticed the girl was trembling.

I had fathomed that the present was to bait me. But I couldn't assume it would be a wolf gang behind the scheme. I thought the girls wanted to use this to bully me. Hence I went to the place without much thinking.

"I did as you ordered. Now, please let me go," the girl cried out.

Suddenly, one of the thugs hit the girl, making her fall to her knees. He grabbed her short hair, pulling her head violently to look up as the girl continued to sob.

I clenched my fists as blood rushed through my veins. The girl undoubtedly schemed with the thugs. Nevertheless, she was in danger herself.

Besides, she was a mere human, and the thugs were radiating intense beta energy. I could feel it due to my harsh training, though my wolf was suppressed.

"You wanted to bring me here. Let that girl go!" I ordered the thugs coldly.

The thugs stared at me for a moment and then abruptly broke into laughter as the girl struggled in pain under the thug's grip.

"Do you think a wolfless girl like you can order us around?" One of the thugs questioned, getting up slowly from his assigned place as his eyes glowed up.

For a moment, I got baffled by his massive appearance. The guy looked as big as a monster.

"Whether I am wolfless or not, I am still the inheritor of the White Wolves. Perhaps, you are aware of the amount of security I receive while I am out," I said calmly.

I regretted forcing the guards to return that day. Yet, I attempted to use it as bait.

"Then we should take you somewhere quiet. What do you say?" one of the guys asked, laughing nastily.

"Let the girl go first. If you let her go, I will leave with you calmly," I calmly said.

I was aware of the situation I had chosen. However, the only thing that mattered to me was the girl's safety. The monstrous, gigantic thug seemed to like my idea.

The thug agreed to release the girl. One of the thugs erased the memories from the girl and made the girl return to school using his power.

However, they turned to me as if I was prey in their cage. The thugs drove for more than an hour before we reached the port area.

I got out of the car, sighing. It wasn't too long since I started learning jiu-jitsu. I counted the thugs, wondering if I could fight them.

"So, we have finally succeeded in capturing the successor of the White wolves," the thugs said.

''The destruction of the White Wolves begins," the monstrous thug said as a smirk appeared on her face as I frowned.

"Why don't you test me first?" I asked calmly.
