Chapter 31

In the middle of the night, I had a dream.

In the dream, he knelt on the ground, holding my hand and pointing it at himself, while I held a gun.

“Will you help me, Christina?” he trembled, looking at me.

I stepped back, trembling.

But he resolutely pulled the trigger, and then fell in front of me.

As he fell, he still smiled at me.

I woke up in an instant, frightened.

I don't know what triggered it, but I crawled to the window and saw a car just driving away...

I couldn't see what kind of car it was, so I couldn't help but call Kevin.

It took a long time for someone to finally pick up on the other end.

“Do you need something?” he asked.

“Kevin,” I just called his name.

I felt like I was being impulsive.

But if I had to die, I wanted to die without regrets, so I gathered up the courage to ask him, “Are you engaged?”

“Yeah,” he admitted quickly.

“What do you mean, Kevin?”

“What do you think?” he chuckled, “Didn't you say we were just playing around and not getting married? Well, I've had enough fun, it's time to settle down.”

“Kevin, you bastard.”

“Did you just figure that out?” he said with a heavy tone, sighing, “Forget about me.”

“Who is it?” I heard a girl's voice on the phone.

I was dumbfounded for a moment.

“Just go to sleep,” he gently coaxed her to sleep.

In an instant, my whole body went numb, even my breath stopped.

I hung up the phone in a second, then sat on the windowsill in a daze.

Finally, in tears, I frantically deleted his contact information.

He said it himself, he had had enough fun.

Someone like him, how could he ever settle down for one person?

We were completely from different worlds, and it was impossible for us to end up together.

So why, even though we've parted, does it still hurt so much?
