Chapter 66 FIGHT OR DIE
~Elara~
He knew where I lived.
I feel my mouth run dry before quickly shutting my phone off and getting off of the motorcycle.
I don't even say bye to Calvin as I start walking away until he grabs my arm.
"What's wrong?" He asks me, and I furrow my eyebrows together before forcing my arm away from him.
"None of your business." I mumble as I turn back around towards the house. I'm not sure what was going on in my head, why I was acting so out of myself.
I felt like I was a car with broken brakes, it'd only be a matter of time before I crashed.
"It's my business now." He scowls, this time his hold on my arm tighter. I try to choke back any tears daring to come out of my eyes as I look up at him.
Why did he care anyways?
His hand suddenly moves to my chin, tilting my head up so I'm forced to make eye contact with him.
He didn't look too happy.
"It's nothing." I say, hoping he'd just leave me alone.
Calvin squints his eyes, a skeptical look in his eyes. His jaw clenches in annoyance as he lets go of my chin and pushes past me towards the front entrance.
I wipe away any stray tears before calming myself down, taking a deep breath, and walking into the estate from the maids entrance to start work.
When my shift was over and I'd said goodnight to Mrs. Carmen I made my way to my room, my hands shakily opening the envelope with my work money inside.
Please be enough
I felt hot tears run down my cheeks, quiet sobs leaving my mouth at each bill I counted. I could barely even hold them in my shaky hands.
It's not enough
It's not enough
Why is it never enough?!
I push my desk chair back as I move under my bed to grab my savings box and dump all of the money out.
I had a combined total of 15,000 and I was 10,000 off.
I didn't cry as I snuck outside to get to the location.
I couldn't really feel anything as I walked down the wet streets from the rain storm that occurred a couple hours ago.
If I'm being honest, I didn't really think much either during the walk with my bag tightly secured over my shoulders holding the money.
Maybe that's why it wasn't as scary.
I heard the crickets chirping, the sound of a dog barking at who knows what, and I saw how the street lamps illuminated the wet roads.
I saw the lights glow behind multiple windows, and felt the cool air hit my tear ridden face. It felt nice.
I took it all in, everything. I knew whatever was coming my way wouldn't be good.
My feet come to a stop on the gravel as I stand there, surrounded by no lights now. I felt like I could hear my heart beat pounding through my ears.
It was silent, for the slightest moment.
A scream leaves my mouth when I'm suddenly kicked to the ground from behind, my elbows landing on the wet gravel to catch my fall.
" You made me wait too long sweetheart."
He chuckles, harshly grabbing my face as he kneels down to look at me.
Suddenly the sound of the dogs were gone, the crickets disappeared, and everything around me was just dark.
Everything nice I saw on my walk seemed like it hadn't even existed, like it was just a dream.
And he was my reality.
I watch him with my eyes watery, my hair sticking to my face. I felt like throwing up from the awful stench leaving his mouth near me.
" Maybe after we can have some fun, hm?" He laughs, running his dirty fingers through my hair.
I shake my head no, trying to hold in my sobs as I try moving away from him.
He gets mad at that.
Andrew drags me back over, slapping me hard on the face. " If you want to live your going to obey me, got it?!" He spits into my face, snatching my bag from my shoulders.
I shakily nod my head, trying to stay strong before I passed out.
" Is it all in here?" He asks, ripping open the bag as he looks up at me through the cigarette dangling in his mouth.
" F...fifteen...thousand." I could barely even speak.
A sick laugh leaves his mouth at the words that left my mouth. I felt my body completely give up, I had no fight in me.
I sit there frozen in my spot, expecting the worst to happen.
What could I do anyway? Run from a bullet?
"I give you time, and you come back with 15k?" He yells, grabbing me by my hair as he screams in my face.
No sounds leave my mouth. I only felt the flood of tears drilling down my face. Before I know it I'm getting punched, everywhere.
Everywhere.
It's not until I hear the sound of a zipper that my senses all flood back to me, and I'm thrashing around in his hold.
He only pins me down, putting his dirty hand over my mouth to muffle out any of my screams.
My eyes shut tightly in fear as I push in every direction to escape his hold. I could feel my own blood dripping down my body but my adrenaline kept me from feeling anything.
The sound of my pants ripping reach my ears.
I wore 3 layers of pants today though
"You fucking bitch." He spits, looking down at my second layer of pants.
My tear filled eyes shoot to the gun on the side of his pants. I think that's when I started feeling my throat closing up in panic.
Fight Elara
I let my brain take over.
My hand slowly reaches for a broken piece of glass on the street from an alcohol bottle. It all happened so quick as I stabbed the large piece of glass into the side of his body.
I feel his entire body tense and a scream of pain leaving his mouth as his grip on me loosens.
I take the chance to get up as quick as I can, ripping the gun out of his pants at the same time.
"I'm going to fucking kill you!" I could hear him screaming as I run, faster than I've ever run before with the gun tightly held in my hand.
I could barely feel my legs, or anything really. All I could feel was the cold murder weapon in my hands.
I throw it. As far out as I can as I run back towards the estate.
I tried to be as quiet as I could as I walked into the house through the side. I tried my best to control my breathing, control my sobs, control myself from screaming in pain.
I hadn't even noticed the tears that were dripping down my face the entire time, or the blood covering my body, and the bruises over my knees and face.
How could i go to school? Go to work?
I drag myself throughout the hallways, my arms tightly hugging my own body alone.
Alone
I stop in my steps when I see a light coming from one of the main office rooms and hear familiar voices.
I walk closer, since I had to pass by it anyways to get to the staircases down to the maids rooms.
I stop right by the door, too scared to walk by it without getting caught.
How would I walk by without one of them seeing me?
I peak inside, only wanting to check if any of them were looking towards the door so I could see if it's safe to walk by or not.
I saw Wayne standing next to a table, running a frustrated hand through his hair.
Mr. and Mrs. Conner also stood in the room and Calvin sat in a chair at the table, leaned back with no care in his eyes.
I wasn't expecting the words leaving Wayne’s mouth.
Well, I didn't exactly hear the entire sentence.
Only one word reached my ear
Mafia
My stomach drops at the word
I don't even have time to process the words when Calvin’s eyes suddenly find my own.
His careless eyes suddenly turn dark as he slams his chair back and starts walking towards the door.
His eyes looked like he was about to kill.
My eyes widen as I stumble back from the door and start running with my injuries towards the maids staircase.
