Chapter 14 Chapter : 14

Chapter 14 Chapter : 14
The Liar and the Beast

Damon’s POV

Rage and unbridged anger filled my vision.

The once lively and beautiful ballroom now stank of betrayal.

The scent clung to the air like ash and rot, crawling down my throat, mixing with something foreign that continues to stir my wolf hidden deep in my consciousness.

“They betray us…death, death…” My wolf dax continued to chant in my head, making it hard for me to think straight.

My hands shook at my sides, my sharp claws glistening under the ballroom light.

The others were gone. Good for them, cause I wouldn't guarantee their safety around me.

The doors had shut. No audience. No witnesses, or so I thought…

My nose scrunched up as I picked up a sweet scent, mixed with fear.

“The fuck are you doing here, spy?” I growled, barely restraining my anger from taking over me.

In the empty hall was just me and the little liar.

Millen…Milo, Whatever the hell his name was.

I spat in disgust,

A boy…

I could believe that i had been pinning over a fucking boy. I had kissed him, and gods be damned it tasted like heaven. Nothing I had ever tasted before.

“Fuck!…”

My hands shot out in range, a loud crash echoed in the small room, followed by the great table that flew across the room.

I saw the look of pure terror in his eyes as the traitor backed away.

Good, feel the fear before I tear him from limb to limb.

The mere sight of him made me want to punch a wall.

What a joke.

A fucking boy had been seated on my lap all this time, in front of my subjects i had touched and fumbled with a fraudster a spy eho had succeeded in poisoning me. In my own court.

The dax Roared in my head.

“Kill him”

“ Shred him to pieces. Thats a befitting punishment for a spy”

But the other half of me, the darker, and more twisted half, wanted to punish him, but in another different way.

I looked at him,

Half naked on his trembling knees

His head was bowed, but not in submission. In shame, terror and acceptance of fate.

And gods help me… I liked it.

"I didn’t know," he whispered, voice like brokened glass. "She blackmailed me…I swear, I didn’t want to…"

Lies.

All the words coming out of those sinful mouths were lies and lies. It was obvious that he was a spy, and his father…that crooked bastard.

I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath, as I approached him, I crouched beside him, grabbing his chin.

His skin felt warm on my hands.

His eyes, damn those coloured eyes, still held an innocence that tugged inside me. But How?

After lying.

After drugging me, and planning to have me killed…

Dax snarled again, trashing with an increased intensity it caught me off guard. But it was already too late…

Dax my wolf had surged to the surface, taking over control. “Hello mate”

“You lied to me,” I said.

“You poison my wine.”

“You wore my collar… pretended to be something you’re not.”

A broken whimper escaped his lips. That was when I realised my hands clenched hard on his throat. I was slowly choking him to death.

I should rip out his throat, the thought echoed in my head,

I should destroy him for humiliating me before my court.

Instead…

“P ... .please…” his eyes reddened with tears.

But instead of feeling sad, I laughed in glee. My wolf dax enjoying every bit of his pain and suffering.

“You betrayed me mate… and now you shall be punished.”

I tried to wrestle control from dax before it became late, but all to no avail.

“We will play a little hide and seek, mate. Run, little liar,” I growled into his skin.

“You have five seconds.”

He jerked, but didn’t move.

Good.

Because I wasn’t ready to let go yet. My hunting instincts kicked in, as a twisted joy made its way to my chest.

Dax was controlling my body.

I Pushed against my restraint. My bones cracked slightly as I clenched my fists hard.

My claws pierced through my skin,

“Four…”

My body trembled, I screamed at Dax to give me back control.

The fraud still wasn’t moving.

And fuck, I didn’t know what dax would do if he counted down to one.

Chase him?

Bite him?

Claim him? Or even

Kill him?

The last thought should’ve been the likeable course of action for dax.

But surprisingly I didn't want that.

Because all I could think about was how good he tasted.

His lies

How badly I wanted to punish him…on my own terms.

“Three…”

Milo’s breath hitched.

He stood slowly, chest rising and falling like a frightened deer, as he scampered for the door.

“Two…”

I was almost at the last part of freeing myself from the restraints in my own mind. Just a few seconds away, but I didn’t know if it would be enough for him.

I smiled darkly.

“Run, pet, because no matter what, I will catch you. No matter where you run too.”

“Let’s see if your legs are faster than my fury.”

“One!”

Milo’s POV

I didn’t wait for him to say "One."

I ran as fast as my legs could carry me.

The pounding of my bare feet against the cold marble floor continued to revoud through the empty long numerous corridors.

my ruined dress fluttered like tattered wings behind me. I didn’t know where I was going, nor did I know where my fate lies. only that I had to move. Escape as far as possible.

Run. Run. RUN.

The chandeliers above me blurredpast me.. Every hallway looked the same. Every turn and corner I took felt like I was venturing into an endless labyrinth built to trap me.

My heart continued to slam on my chest like a war drum. nothing was more terrifying than who I was running away from.

Or who…

I cried, as I picked up the sound of his footsteps. It was slow at first before it became fast, getting closer at an alarming pace.

I was horrified as the sound of footsteps continued to intensify with each second, no matter how hard I ran.

I knew it was a fruitless plan. I was an omega, and there was no way I was faster than a full-blown alpha.

He was just playing with me.

A growl rumbled somewhere close. It was animalistic, almost demonic, and it sounded too close.

My body trembled in horror.

“You can’t run from me, traitor!”
