Chapter 117 Dreame

Chapter 117 Dreame
Chapter 117: Dreame

Unknown pov

A few hours later,

The mysterious leader was alone in her study, smelling of old paper and ancient scrolls that were lined up at one side of the wall.

She held a familiar small bottle, twirling it as if she wanted to catch the transparent spin of the invisible liquid.

A rhythmic knock came at her door before it swung open.

Immediately two powerful fierce presences that could rival betas of other packs came in. They were her personal guards,

Mara, whose jaw had the habit of clenching when she was angry, and Voss, broad-shouldered and quieter than most men twice his size. They bowed, in the rough fashion of soldiers who trusted discipline more than affection. She acknowledged them with a bare tilt of her head and,

“The plan is already in motion. My Esteemed priestess. Your — the boy’s fall is inevitable. All that's left is for her to do her part.” He said the last one while gritting his teeth.

“Good” was all their leader said, already dismissing them out of her office.

But then Voss hesitated after exchanging glances with Mara, and he spoke up. “Esteemed priestess, I don't trust silent Dancer. How sure are we that she will be able to land the finishing blow when the time comes—”

This finally caught the attention of the leader, who dropped the draught bottle she was holding. The room suddenly turned freezing as insurmountable pressure filled the room, pressing down on the trembling two guards.

“I…I am so sorry, my queen. This servant accepts his punishments.” he crashed to the ground, pleading for mercy.

Before any of them could move, the door opened. A lean, lanky fellow came in, falling into a shaky knee immediately.

“My queen,” he gasped. “The Scouts have returned. We have captives from Damon's pack. Two of them.”“You did well,” she told the scout, who scrambled out like he was never there.

“Now that's what we call efficiency and usefulness.”

“It won't repeat again, my queen. I am so sorry, my queen.” He swore, clapping his hands together vehemently.

“Wait” the leader called.

“About silent Dancer, I have confidence in her loyalty, in exchange just for one favor. She wouldn’t betray us and jeopardise her relationship with the only people that would offer her what she wants—”

She crossed the room. And in less than a second, she was in front of the two guards. “Trust is not what I seek,” she whispered. “Obedience is. If you give me those, I will give you victories. If you choose to betray me, I will not only hunt you down till eternity—"

"I will make you witness the power of a true alpha.”

Milo’s POV

Awool! Awool!

Their howls rebounded in the dark forest around me.

But I didn't stop running, not for even a second. I found myself trudging through the rough bushes of the forest, jumping blindly over fallen trees, as I ran through the woods, but instead of running away from the howl, I ran straight towards its direction.

My muscles ached, my lungs burned, I was tired and in desperate need of air, but yet no matter how I tried to force myself to turn back, I couldn’t stop. My legs moved as if they didn’t belong to me, carrying me deeper and deeper into a forest that continued to look more like I was running straight into the butcher's knife. Every tree I passed bent toward me, their branches clawing at my skin, whispering words I couldn’t understand.

My breath became ragged, my chest burning as if fire was consuming me from the inside out, The ground beneath my feet swayed around me.

I have reached my limit, but then—

The woods opened into a huge clearing that stretched farther than my eyes could reach. All around it was surrounded with an unnatural glowing fire.

I gasp, my heart lurching forward, as my eyes landed at what stood in my front.

There standing in the middle of the fire pit like a majestic fire king, was a red wolf.

Not just any wolf. This one was like a colossal monument that stood several.meters above the ground, towering over me like an insurmountable mountain.

its fur was literally on fire, with the bright fierce flame that burned into the night sky, illuminating the whole dark forest. Its eyes burned molten gold, and every breath it exhaled sent waves of unresistable pressure rolling over me. It was unlike anything I have encountered. The sense of reverence and a strong urge to bow before it became so intense I could feel my bones leaning slightly on its own. My own skin prickled, buzzling with the same vibration that was coming out of the colossal wolf in waves like something inside me was answering it.

The wolf suddenly lowered its head, and growled. The sound shook the very ground like an earthquake of 10 magnitude, that rattled my bones.

I wanted to run, but my legs stayed rooted to the spot, not obeying my desperate command for it to move. My heart thudded against my ribs, so hard I thought it would burst out of me.

Then without warning the wolf turned into a ball of flames and lunged.

Flames, fur and fury slammed into me with a blinding speed. A loud bloodcurling scream tore through my throat, as I felt the fire seared through every nerve, every muscle, every vein in my body like a raging bull. My head threatened to split into two, my intestines felt like they were being pulled out of my body. As the fire continued to force it way inside me, as if it was trying to merge with me. I watched in horror as my glowing skin began to crack, like molten light was bleeding out of me.

My body convulsed with pain as I doubled over. the world's perception continued to change and morph around me, I could feel the fire still wreaking through my whole body, causing havoc wherever it went.

I raised my head to let out another painful scream but to my terror, it came out as a howl instead.

The burning wolf’s fading voice boomed inside my skull, low and ancient,

“You cannot run from what you are.”

The world shattered.

“It will be okay.”

I blinked, and found myself in another place,

But this time, I was tied head to toes with chains that were as big as my wrists. The scent of chemicals and steel feel the air.

I was no longer in the woods!!

Precise footsteps echoed in the room.

I strained against the chains that didn't even bulge. From the shadows, a man stepped forward. His outline was human, but his face… his face was obscured in darkness, but I couldn't stop the feeling of familiarity when he appeared.

My heart twisted with dread.

Tlbut then, the figure spoke. The voice, low and sharp, filled with venom.

“You’ll never be enough, Milo. You’re weak. A mistake. A curse that should have been drowned at birth.”

The words struck harder than the chain that bit in my skin.

“No,” I rasped, thrashing against the restraints.

“You think you matter? You will die tomorrow, and no one will remember your name.” His voice grew louder, crueler, echoing against the walls until it filled my head. “You are nothing but a worthless shadow.”

“STOP!” I screamed, my throat raw, the chains digging deeper.

The faceless man only leaned closer. Though I couldn't see his features, I felt him looking straight into me. His hand rose, and fire bloomed in his palm. The glow spread, lighting up the walls in a sickening red.

“Come home Milo,”

This time, a girl's voice spoke from the figure's mouth. The hum inside my skin surged in response. My veins burned, but then all the pain and fear gave way to shock and recognition.

Millen!!

The fire spread, swallowing me whole.

I gasped,

My eyes snapped open to a soaked and wet body.
