Chapter 74 PRETTY LITTLE SCARS

Chapter 74 PRETTY LITTLE SCARS
“You have thirty seconds to explain yourself.”
Hank let's out a sigh of relief.

“Please, I need your help to get my sister back. My father married her off to Ivan Volkov. My father is careless and he does not care about Ella but I know that she's in serious trouble.”

I almost burst out in laughter.

Holy fuck.

This bastard had kidnapped Anya because he needed my help in saving his sister.

He does not see my fist and if you ask me, I can barely remember throwing my arm in his direction.

He falls to the ground and I kick the gun away from his hand.
He cries out as I step on his fingers, I feel them twisting at odd angles underneath my shoes.

“Do you know what you've just done?”

I wanted to desensitise Anya, not traumatise her. I shouldn't have sent her on the mission tonight, what the hell was I thinking.

What was I thinking.

“As if it wasn't enough that she had to pose as a spy in a very dangerous environment, as if it wasn't enough to be chased out of the night club by an angry mob of crazed criminals, you kidnapped her and brought her to this filthy place, because you needed my help. Oh, you made a very stupid decision Hank Reyes.”

“Wait… Ivan knows where Vittorio is. He's the one hiding Vittorio. If you catch Ivan and save my sister then you will get Vittorio.”

“I do not care about Estella or Ivan. I do not care if Vittorio is hiding or out free, no, I do not care what happens to Jon de Vittorio. All I care about is for Anya–”

“Don't kill me.”

I would do so much worse than killing him.

“You've crossed a very sacred line. You should have taken something else, my house… One of my cars, my fucking dick! Not her, no… Never her.”

“I know you want to gut me and torture me, I know but I let me say one more thing.”

“I would prefer to rid you of your tongue”

I pull my pocket knife from the back of my pants.

“They're related. Anya is related to Ivan Volkov and he was planning to capture her!”

I pause.

“What did you say?”

ANYA

The man who looked like he'd spent every day of his life in the gym was sharpening his knife at the corner when the bullet sounded.

A loud crash shakes the foundation of the building and I hear someone shout.

“He drove his car into the door of the warehouse!” someone yells

My heart is slamming against my chest and I forget when I stand but I find myself walking towards the door.

“Sit down bitch!” the guy shouts pointing to the chair in the center.

“Oh he's coming for you” I say to him

“Sit down!” he yells again, pointing his knife at me.

I don't hesitate to sit down

The mad look in his eyes tells me that he would react to fear violently. The coolness of the floor bites into my foot as I sit and wait.

The guy is pacing the room, he hasn't stepped out to see what's going on. He takes a step to the door every now and then but decides that staying here with me is more important.

“I will gut you. I will cut your pretty face up before he comes. If I die, then I know that I will die with pride.”

Dante, where are you?

The man starts making his way in my direction, he looks serious and ready.

“If you don't gut me, I will tell him to spare you”

The words leave my mouth quickly.

I can't believe that I'm trying to negotiate with this man.

He pauses as if he's lost in thoughts but then he starts making his way towards me as if there's not time left, as if he can hear Dante making his way towards us.

“Dante doesn't listen to no woman.”
“Well, he listens to me.”

I stand from the chair and put as much distance between us. The man looks confused and torn. He looks as if he wants to be anywhere but here. But anytime his eyes meets mine, I see a flash of rage.

“Dante will listen to me. I will tell him to leave you.”

“You don't know that devil Marchetti.”

“I know enough. And he came for me, didn't he. He is here because of me.”

The man stops.
“Are you his girlfriend?”
“No.”

It's as if the word triggers him. He lunges at me and I twist away from him and run to the door.

I unlock it and run out.

When I look over my shoulder, the man is catching up quickly.

“Dante!” I shout at the top of my lungs. “Dante!” I shout again as a thick arm wraps around the back of my neck and slam me into the wall.

Rainbow spots float behind my eyes and I cry out in pain.
“The more you struggle, the jagged the scars. Let me give you just a little reminder of me.”

The gunshot sounds too close to my ears. As if they had been aiming for me and missed by an inch.

I think I'm dead, everything goes unnaturally quiet and I can't breathe.

But a light flashes in my face and my eyes snaps open.

I look around and I realize that I'm in a hospital.
