Chapter 73 SLAM
Chapter 73 SLAM
One. Two. Slam.
The door explodes into a million tiny pieces. I can hear nothing but my blood seeking revenge.
They should have never laid eyes on her. Taking her was a mistake they would live to regret.
I will give them death, but I will give it to them slowly.
One man appears in front of me, trying to catch me by surprise.
My hand wraps around his throat and I slam him to the ground.
I hear a loud plop as his skull smashes against the concrete. The gun flies from his grip and he tries to pry my hands off his throat.
I don't want to kill him so soon but I comfort myself with the thought that there will be more.
They always send the less important out first.
I pull the trigger and he goes limp.
I look around the warehouse, it's calm but I know they're watching from the shadows.
“Where is she!” I yell, my voice echoes through the warehouse and I don't hear any response.
I start walking towards a door and two figures come out of hiding. Their guns are raised and they're ready to shoot, too bad I aim faster.
They drop almost in sync, if Russo was here he would have whistled at the beauty of such brutality.
“Dante Marchetti, wait… please stop.”
Hank Reyes appears in front of me, hands raised in a pleading manner.
“This was the only way to get your attention. Please.”
My heart is beating madly. I have never felt so distraught in my entire life. Not since Angelo's death.
God's, my hands are trembling.
“Where is Anya”
I can see nothing but red and that dark part of me is begging to be let lose.
“She's safe. She's in a room, waiting for you.”
Another figure appears from the door. An older man, someone I had never seen before.
He looks at me like I disgust him and I still wonder why I haven't put a bullet in any of their heads.
“The Dante Marchetti, here in the flesh.” The older man says
“Carlos, no… Not now.” Hank warns.
“You know I saw you one time. The day you shot my brother.” Carlos says stepping closer.
He's holding a gun in his hand. It's slightly raised but he doesn't look like he's ready to shoot any time soon. He looks like he's fondly recalling a memory from the distant past.
“You were a little boy then. Barely even eighteen, that's what they said. They bragged about you, said you were a devil. I didn't care about you until you killed my brother.”
Carlos lifts his hand sharply but before I can raise my gun, a shot erupts.
….
Carlos falls to the ground and goes limp. His grey shirt is slowly being eaten up by a red liquid that seeps from a hole in his chest.
I turn to Hank Reyes and he does a half shrug.
“He was part of the operation but he wasn't important. I knew I had to kill him sooner or later.”
He should be dead. Why haven't I shot him.
Maybe because my brain is still trying to piece together the reason Estella's brother had kidnapped Anya.
