Chapter 82 Duante's POV
Chapter 82 Duante's POV
I pulled the gloves up. I didn't want to make another mistake. I let my wife catch me. Uncle Antonio couldn't see who was behind the mask.
"We're ready, Devil." Drake said after knocking on the opened door.
I slanted my head to the side, motioning at the laptop. "Did you check it, Wolf?" I asked.
"Yes, boss. Aaron sir took ma'am out for a walk on the beach. Ma'am was looking happy going there. Everything is as you want." He paused.
I nodded sensing more on the tip of his tongue.
"Ma'am is expecting a call from you." He said.
"See, if she's not sleeping. Video call." I couldn't alter her request.
"Sure, boss." He walked over to the desk, his phone hoisted up to his ear.
I ignored his conversation but the alerted part of my mind couldn't ignore it.
I grabbed the dark hood and threw it over my head. I turned, sauntering to the desk. I took the couch.
Drake turned the screen to me. I caught her beaming face staring at me. She waved her hand. "Hi, how are you?"
The corners of my lips kicked up. My eyes roamed over the screen. She was wearing one of my shirts. It was hiding her baby bump but not fully. I nodded, answering her question.
Her brows pulled together. But her smile didn't waver. I arched my brows when she didn't say a word.
"Oh, if you're busy you can disconnect. I just wanted to see you." She flashed her full smile showing her teeth.
I arched both my eyebrows this time. She sighed. "You're not wearing a suit." She thinned her lips. "Where are you going? If you're going to see someone I'll shoot her in the head this time."
I couldn't hold my smile. "It's an appointment with my business partner." I told her, not revealing the truth entirely.
"Oh, alright. What will you bring for me?"
I arched my single brow. Her eyes followed it. "Tell Aaron what you want. He'll provide it immediately."
She snorted, her hand rested on her round stomach. Something tugged in my chest. I wanted to hold her, and ran my hand on her stomach.
"I'm not talking about that. Bring something for our baby."
"I'm not here to shop, wife." My mind was already back to the things I saw yesterday in the market in my leisure time.
"Ok, whatever. Um," She paused, gawking on her lower lip. I tilted my head, not peeling my eyes off her gorgeous face. She ran her finger over my face. "I'm missing you." Her smile was bright but her eyes were sad. "Me and baby." She added immediately.
"Eveleen, do you have something in particular to talk about?" I wanted to smack my head for my rudeness.
She blinked and nodded her head. "Aaron took me to a beach. I was wearing a hood like you. After your return, we'll go together."
I hummed, nodding my head.
She huffed. "Thank you for the call. You may disconnect now."
Today, she completed seven months of her pregnancy. She was looking sexy in my shirt but I couldn't bring it to the tip of my tongue. I pretended to look down at my wrist. "I have ten minutes, wife." I told her.
Her face lit up. "Okay. Well! I've shopped a lot in the past few days. I have bought us matching clothes. You know.. baby, you and me. Will you wear them?" Before I could say something, she held her hand next to her face. "I know your taste, husband."
I pulled my brows together. My lips wanted to curl up but I reined in them, keeping my mask on.
"I have bought us mostly black color. No design, no print on your t-shirts. I've also purchased our son a black suit like you wear. He would look cute, na? So cute. " She giggled, imagining him in her head.
Stubbornly, the corners of my lips twitched up. I nodded when she stopped talking.
"I know you'll like them. I can't wait to show them to you. I have locked the cupboard. I'm hoping no one will break it." I wanted her wholeheartedly. But this could wait until I buried my enemies. I rubbed my neck. I shouldn't be thinking about how to make love to her. I tried to concentrate on what she was saying.
"Do you think he will like my favourite colors? I'm sort of worried about it. He would be like you... most of the time he would glare and then tilt his head." She tilted her head but couldn't glare with a smile on her face.
A loud laugh jumped from my lips when she mimicked me.
She looked at me with a big smile, her eyes grasping unspoken emotions. I didn't need words to know from her. "You're coming tomorrow, right?" Her voice was soft to my ears.
I didn't know this. "You'll receive a call from me if I can't make it back home."
She nodded, looking nervous. "Okay, it has been ten minutes. I won't hold you back from your work."
"You're not." I told her.
A soft rap made my neck snivel. I nodded at Drake as he gestured at his watch tapping his index finger on it.
"I think you're busy. I'll wait for you." She waved her hand at the screen, smiling at me.
I nodded saying my goodbye. Not wanting to, I pressed the button. The screen went dark as I ended the video call.
"We're ready to go." Drake said.
Leaving the laptop on the desk, I strode over to the door. "Anything from him?" I asked sternly.
"Tom sir is safe away from New York. I haven't received any message from him about Antonio Sir." Drake said.
I ran my hand through my hair. I didn't want to lose my men. They were my family. "We're going to meet Uncle in thirty minutes." I strolled out of the room.
"Sir," Drake followed my steps. "I don't think we should go, boss. I tried Antonio's sir number. It's unreachable." He suggested.
I hadn't seen fear in their eyes ever. But there was always concern for my family and me. Right now I am only worried about... "My wife?" I asked in a whisper as I halted near stairs. My eyes darted down the hall.
"Ma'am is better after knowing you're safe. Cristiano is in Australia. Nothing to worry about, boss." Drake said.
"We're ready to go, Devil." Arsh smirked as he came down the stairs.
I gave him a curt nod and turned to Drake. I slapped my hand on his shoulder. "Back up team?"
He puffed his chest. "They are ready, Devil." He nodded confidently.
I might be going to meet my uncle. But I never expected situations to always work in my favour.
"If there's any hesitation, Beta. You can stay behind." I told Aakash, talking on the stairs.
"Not happening. I'll live with my brothers, I'll die for my brothers." He repeated the words. They were curved on their hearts when they took the blood oath.
I got behind the wheel and twisted the keys. Drake hopped in. I wanted to end this as soon as possible. Arnav had given me all proof of him being the stalker. Though he was always hiding his face behind a mask. Tan had brought him up. He stole Antonio's son years ago and trained him to destroy us. His obsession for my wife would bury him in his graveyard. I accelerated the car as anger surged through me.
