Chapter 29 Meeting Julia's Friend
“I think it doesn't make sense at all, with or without my wife's ex-lover, destiny can never be changed so easily. If I have destiny and am destined to be with my wife, no matter what, we will definitely meet each other in a way that no human being, including you, could ever imagine. Maybe at that time my wife was on an assignment to do something? Or did we accidentally meet on the street? Or something else, and that could be one of the things that could be a way for the two of us to meet. There is no way there is only one way for a couple who are destined to find their soulmate, because God must have provided so many ways for everything that happens based on all the destinies that God has even written before my wife and I were born. What is clear is that right now I feel so very grateful for being married to a woman who is so very special like her, and I hope that I will never be able to hurt her at all. Right now what I want is for her to get pregnant soon, but I don't dare to tell my wife directly because I'm afraid she will be angry. And even now she is still busy, stubbornly keeping working at the place where she works even though she is A wife of a businessman who has given him a lot of money, even thousands of times his salary."
Hearing this, Robin couldn't help but smile wryly. Who wouldn't be jealous? Loved in such a profound way? The man who loved his ex-girlfriend was an extraordinary man, a businessman. He was a businessman whose love was unmatched by anyone, not even Robin could have imagined.
"I just hope that you two will live happily ever after, and that no one can ruin your happiness. It would be incredibly painful if one of you were unhappy just because of something that wasn't worth fighting for. You're both good people, and I'm sure this is a truly extraordinary sign for both of you. Be happy whenever and wherever you are, because this is truly a joyous occasion for both of you, isn't it?"
"Thank you for your prayers, and I'm also grateful for everything you might say, because it's all so sweet. I also pray for your marriage and for your wife, and I hope you have children soon."
After exchanging pleasantries for a while, the three of them said their goodbyes and went their separate ways.
Kay returned home and was shocked to see his wife sitting in the pantry, staring at him with a strange look.
"Where have you been? Were you with your group? Or were you out drinking with another woman?"
"Are you jealous?" Kay opened the refrigerator next to the pantry, took out some wine, sat down next to his wife, poured some, and savored it with relish.
"Didn't I tell you a while ago that I had a meeting with your ex-girlfriend? We already had a working contract, and I'd already invested as much as they asked for."
"You really did it? This is crazy!"
"No, it turns out his wife isn't as bad as I imagined. And it seems she's quite jealous and heartbroken that you married me."
Julia didn't say anything else but remained silent, choosing to sip her coffee without even saying a word.
Kay, who knew her wife wasn't feeling well, smiled again and tried to change the subject.
"Why are you here? Didn't you sleep? Or go to your workplace? Didn't you say you were going to work for a while this morning?"
"Yes, and I just got home with all sorts of problems, and I'm at a loss for what to say to you."
"What?"
"You know, in the special police unit where I work, I have a female friend, and she just found out I'm married. I'm sorry, I let that slip and was forced to say it because my friend happens to love a man who also happens to love me. A love triangle that I felt was impossible, and to convince my friend that I couldn't possibly love that man, I told her directly that I was her husband. And you know what happened? My friend was very hurt because I felt like a terrible friend for not inviting her to my wedding, a wedding that I should have invited as a friend."
"So what's the problem after that?"
"Of course there are many problems! My friend is a police officer, and this woman is so astute at discerning people that she can even tell if they're criminals or not just by looking at them so directly. My friend wants to meet you, so what should I do?"
"Then let's meet. Isn't that all very easy?"
“You’re crazy! You’re the mafia leader who is so highly sought after by my best friend and all my colleagues, what if my best friend finds out that you’re the head of the mafia or even one of the mafia? I’m so scared that you’ll be caught and I’m even more scared that everything will fall apart and you’ll be arrested and it’s because of me. I feel like your life isn’t going well after knowing me, and so many problems have occurred in your life and it’s because of me, isn’t it? Say if you don’t want to attend this dinner, I’ll try to find the best excuse for it so my best friend won’t keep asking.”
"I have a regular at a really delicious restaurant. I'll send you the address and then send it to your friend for dinner tonight. And you can invite all your friends in the police force to join you as a sign of respect. I don't think that's bad enough, and in fact, I think it's quite a good thing. After all, I'm married to you, and I should respect all your friends."
"But, Kay—"
"Trust me, I'll never be found out that easily."
