Ryan's POV
After threatening the guards time and time again, they finally told me where Brianna was. They told me that she wanted to find out who was behind my accident so she allowed herself to be kidnapped.
"You are all bunch of worthless fools. What am I paying you for if you couldn't handle just that simple problem while I was unconscious?" I asked angrily
"We really didn't want to listen to ma'am Brianna but she forced us to. We are really sorry that we weren't able to stop her" they apologized on their knees
"Forget it. As soon as I'm back, I'm going to fire every single one of you" I said weakly
"Are you going somewhere sir? The doctor said you should be placed on bed rest for a while or you will fall into a coma again" one of the guards said
"So what if I fall into a coma? Brianna is more important to me than my life so if anything happens to her, i won't be able to continue living. By then, your bed rest and treatment will be useless. Just let me save her first and then I can fall into a coma again" I said nonchalantly
"No sir, we really can't allow that even if we have to die. Ma'am Brianna told us to protect you at all cost and the doctor said leaving the hospital is bad for your health" the guards said
"Wow! Did Brianna hire you? Does she pay your monthly salary? If you don't want me to lose my temper, then you better get lost" I screamed and started having a headache
"Are you okay boss?" they asked rushing to me
"Take me to where Brianna is right now" I said in a weak voice
"But you are not okay right now. I'm afraid you will be exposing yourself to danger" they panicked
"Just take me there now" I said
My eyelids were closing already but I struggled to keep them opened. As we were going in the car, I ate little food and my strength gradually came back. I was still so weak but at least, my eyes were clear.
After about twenty minutes drive, we arrived at the building. I called the police while we were leaving since I didn't know the situation of things. What matters is that I save Brianna first.
By the way, why does this building looks so familiar? I can't explain it but taking a close look at it makes me feel.... Justin!
The building was auctioned last year and I asked Justin to represent me. I won the auction but I only came here once. I handed everything over to Justin with the hope that I will live in this mansion with my wife when I eventually get married. Why did these men bring me here?
"Why are we here?" I asked after we got down
"This is the place that ma'am Brianna was taken to sir" one of them answered
"Are you sure we are not at the wrong house? Look carefully and try to remember correctly" I said
"This is it sir. Ma'am Brianna planted a chip inside her so...." the first bodyguard didn't complete his sentence before the other one stopped him
"This is the correct place sir, let's go in" he said
"No! I want him to finish what he was saying. Brianna planted a chip inside her? What do you mean by that?" I asked
"Do you really want me to kill both of you before I go in to save Brianna?" I asked when they refused to talk
"No sir. Ma'am Brianna planted a chip inside her so that we could know where she is and so that we would be able to get evidence against who did this to you" they explained
She did what? Planted a chip inside her? Why won't she think before doing anything? Just how far is she willing to go for me?
"Let's go" I said in a stern voice
The thought of Brianna sacrificing so much for me gave me strength all of a sudden and I badly wanted to save her.
Since I've been inside the mansion before, I at least knew my way around even though I don't remember clearly. We were able to go in by jumping over the fence and we carefully tiptoed until we got to a room.
The other rooms were quiet but this particular room wasn't. There was the sound of a fight going on and I just had a feeling that it was Brianna.
I kicked the door open and saw that it was really her. There were wounds all over her body and it broke my heart that I almost started crying.
I was still staring at her when I heard that someone wanted to pull the trigger. I looked behind and saw Justin pointing the gun towards Brianna. It was too late to kick the gun from his hand so I could only take the bullet in Brianna's place.
"R...Ryan, please don't scare me. The bullet didn't touch you right? You dodged it and you are fine right?" Brianna asked with tears in her eyes
"Yes, I'm fine. I want to eat though, I'm very hungry" I said with a painful smile
"Okay. What do you want to eat? No matter what it is you want to eat, I will cook it for you. Let's get out of here first" she said
She wanted to help me up but she put her hand on my back in the process and touched blood.
"Ryan, why is there blood on your clothes? You weren't shot right?" she asked
"Yes, I wasn't" I smiled
"W...why did you do that? I tried so hard to save you so how could you have taken the gunshot in my place?" she asked and bursted into tears
"You said it yourself. You tried so hard to save me while I couldn't do anything for you. You've done so much for me already and I'm grateful for it. I only want you to continue living and always be happy" I said
"Alright lovebirds, enough of your lovey-dovey talk. It's time for you to say goodbye to the world" Justin said
I smiled tearfully and managed to turn my head to look at him. I treated him like a brother and trusted him with everything I had but he betrayed me in the worst way.
He kidnapped Brianna after trying to kill me and I'm sure he wanted to force himself on her. I don't know if he succeeded or not but the pain in my heart right now is more than the pain caused by the bullet.
Even if I don't die from the gunshot, I will definitely die from the pain in my heart. I've never felt so betrayed in my life and the worst part of it is that Brianna warned me about him. If only I had listened to her.
He pointed the gun at me first and I smiled and shut my eyes. I just hope the police arrive before he gets the chance to shoot Brianna.
"Boss! The police! The police is here!" a man rushed in and informed him
"The police? Why is the police here? Ryan, you bastard!" he cussed and ran out of the room
The police arrived quickly, I guess it's because I called them. Brianna called out to me and her voice started getting farther and farther until I lost consciousness.
