What happened?

💠 Chapter 64 💠

Brianna’s POV

When I woke up, everywhere was already dark. As soon as I remembered what happened in the afternoon, I got down from the bed and ran outside my ward.

“Please where is Ryan Santiago’s ward?” I asked one of the nurses I came across

They told me his ward and I ran as fast as I could. When I got there, there was oxygen on him and different machines were connected to his body. I shut my eyes tight because it was unbearable but then I remembered how he smiled at me just this afternoon.

I told him I had a bad feeling and if only he had listened to me and rescheduled the meeting, this wouldn’t have happened. He didn’t want to lose the contract but he ended up losing it at last.

I sat down gently beside him and held his hands as tears rolled down my cheeks. How did everything happen within a flash? I was just taking some files and then…… Yes! A bus suddenly drove out with full speed and I remember that it didn’t have a plate number.

Not only that! If it really was an accident, he would have stopped to take Ryan to the hospital immediately and even offer to pay the bills but he just drove off like that. I’ve been too busy crying that I didn’t think about the circumstances surrounding the accident. I will need to check the cctv camera of that restaurant.

While thinking about that, I felt a presence at the door. It didn’t look like it was a doctor or nurse because the person refused to come in. it seems like he was trying to check the situation of things. Is he here for me? Or could he be here to finish Ryan?

His accident is already suspicious enough so I won’t be surprised if someone is here for him again. Anyway, I’m going to make them regret trying to mess with my boyfriend.

After few minutes, the person came in. I pretended not to notice him at first so I didn’t move or act like I saw anyone. But when he tried to put a handkerchief on my nose, I stood up and faced him.

He was surprised and that was how I was able to successfully take him down. Three other guys came in after that and I also took them down. Even without belonging to a mafia group, taking down about four to five guys at once is an easy task for me not to talk of now that I belong to a mafia gang. Whoever sent them must not know who he’s dealing with.

I rang the emergency bell beside Ryan’s bed and it soon started echoing in the hospital. The men took this chance to escape before the securities arrived.

“What happened ma’am?” one of the securities asked

“Some strange looking guys came here, I think they came for Ryan” I said

“Don’t worry ma’am! We will tighten the security of this ward and we assure you that no harm will come to Sir Ryan” they said

“Thank you so much” I mumbled

Looks like I will have to leave the hospital tomorrow. Ryan is in a coma and the doctors don’t know when he will be waking up so it’s my duty to take care of the company and cartel on his behalf before he wakes up.

*Next morning*

I woke up on the couch in Ryan’s ward the next morning because I just had a feeling that he was still in danger. Those guys might still be around for all I know.

After waking up, I sat beside him for a few minutes and held his hands. Seeing him in this state breaks my heart so much but what can I do? If the doctor’s are helpless, what then will I be able to do?

“Ryan, I know you can hear me right now. It was just yesterday that you introduced me to the staffs as your girlfriend and the world came to know about it. It was that same yesterday that an ill-fate befell you and I feel like it’s my fault. If you really love me and don’t want them to blame me, you better wake up right now.

I promise not to fight with you anymore. I promise to be a good girl and always listen to you so please open your eyes. You can’t leave me all alone in this cruel world when you have a company and cartel to manage. Even if you won’t wake up because of me, at least think about the cartel and company.

You’ve worked so hard to reach this point so wake up and come and continue. There’s no way I can possibly manage the cartel alongside all your companies, it will be really hard for me. Please Ryan, wake up” I cried

The fact that he didn’t even lift a finger hurt me deeply and I continued crying until I noticed those guys again. They didn’t know I saw them already and I was confused on what to do.

Are they really here for Ryan or could it be that they are here for me? Ryan is already in a coma so what could they possibly want to do to him? And me? It’s not like anyone knows me in this world. It’s just yesterday that Ryan introduced me so I don’t think I’ve made enemies so quickly.

The best thing to do now is split into two. I will go to the parking lot now and see if they will come after me or they will go for Ryan instead. That’s the only way to know what they truly want.

I kissed Ryan’s forehead and went to the parking lot. His driver was already waiting for us and I also called his bodyguards just in case those guys follow me instead.

“Two of you will stay with Ryan here at the hospital while the rest will follow me. Remember to maintain a distance” I said to the bodyguards

Even though I was talking to them, we weren’t standing face to face because those guys might be watching us. They were in a car in the parking lot so I told them through the earpod in my ear.

I got into the car after the driver opened the door for me and we started driving to Ryan’s mansion. I looked at the mirror and saw that we were indeed being followed. It looks like those guys are after me and not Ryan, but why? I really don’t understand.

Is it that they were after me from the start and Ryan got in the way? Or were they after both of us? Everything is so complicated right now and I can’t even think straight.

After taking my bath at the mansion, I got into the car again and the driver started driving me to the company. It was at this point that those men double crossed us. I got down from the car and folded my arms while staring at them.

“You guys don’t seem to love your lives anymore right? But then again, you must be tired of living after doing dirty jobs for so long. I’m only going to give you one chance to get lost or none of you will leave this place with a complete body.

I’m already very upset that my boyfriend got into an accident so don’t let me unleash my anger on you or you will really regret it” I said as calmly and slowly as I could so that each word could get into their head
