Chapter 125 Chapter 125

Chapter 125 Chapter 125
Sienna

The rogue’s words echoed in my head.

A blood debt.

My fingers tightened around the torn piece of Elias’s shirt until the fabric crumpled in my palm. I could barely breathe. What the hell did she mean by a blood debt? Somewhere out there was my cub being moved farther away from us, and now we had another pack standing between us and getting him back.

My heart crashed against my ribcage. “What does that mean?” I asked.

The rogue swallowed hard, his eyes darting between Logan and me. “I don’t know everything. I swear. I only heard them talking about it.” He was too shaken for me to know whether or not he was telling the truth.

Logan took a threatening step toward him. “Then tell us what you heard.”

His gaze dropped to the ground. “They said the Alpha wouldn’t refuse them.” His eyes slanted towards me and I noted the difficulty he had in swallowing. The redness of his skin had gotten to his face and if this were any other situation, I might have pleaded on his behalf. “Not when it involves your family.”

A strange chill crawled down my spine.

“My family?”

His only response was a nod. The spit in my mouth suddenly tasted bitter. My gaze shifted to Logan. His expression had hardened, his jaw clenched as he processed the same information. “Where are they taking him?” He asked.

The frantic shake of head returned. “I.. I don’t know the name of the territory. They mentioned crossing the western border before dawn.” Logan stepped closer. I rubbed my sweaty palms on my dress, feeling my hope die out. What did he know then?

“Who is the Alpha?”

The rogue shook his head. “I never heard a name.”

Frustration burned through me. I wanted to shake every answer out of him, but a part of me knew he genuinely didn’t have more to give us. He wouldn't dare try to hide things from Logan when he was this riled up. It was Iron Fang’s heir we were talking about after all.

I turned away, pressing the torn fabric against my chest.

Elias.

I could still feel the faint pull of our bond. It wasn’t strong enough to tell me where he was, but it was there. He was alive. If that bond ever went completely silent I didn’t know what I would do. “We’re going after him,” I announced.

Logan immediately looked at me. “Yes. We are.”

I knew what it meant when he spoke to me in that tone. “No.” I shook my head. “I’m going.”

His eyebrows drew together.

“Sienna—”

“This is my son.”

“And he’s mine too.”

“I know.” My voice cracked, but I forced myself to remain steady. Breaking down would not do anything to help my case. “Whoever this Alpha is, he has a connection to my parents. If they’re willing to take Elias into their territory because of something involving me, then I need to be there.”

Logan stepped closer, lowering his voice. “You don’t know what you’re walking into.”

“Neither do you.”

His eyes narrowed. I wasn’t going to back down. At this point, this was more about me than it was about him. “I’ve spent my entire life running from things I didn’t understand,” I continued. “I spent years believing I was nothing more than an Omega because that was what I was told I was. I let other people decide what I could and couldn’t know about myself.”

My fingers curled around Elias’s shirt.

“I won’t do that anymore.”

Logan stared at me for several seconds. Something shifted in his expression, but it wasn’t enough to make him agree. “We’ll discuss this at the mansion.”

I shook my head. I couldn't let us get there without reaching a conclusion. Mara would have more information and she would probably be in support of me not going. “No. There’s nothing to discuss.”

Logan’s jaw tightened. “Sienna.”

“I am going.”

“And I’m telling you that you’re not.”

I blinked at him. For a moment, neither of us spoke. Suddenly the old Logan was standing in front of me. The man who made decisions and expected everyone else to follow them. The man who had once decided what was best for me without asking what I wanted.

And the worst part was that I knew why he was doing it.

He was afraid. So was I.

But fear couldn’t keep deciding the course of our lives.

“You don’t get to lock me away again,” I whispered.

His expression faltered, the rogue long forgotten. The warrior who’d led us here had stepped away to give us some privacy. “I didn’t say I was locking you away.” He countered.

“You sedated me yesterday.”

His face tightened.

“You tied me to a bed.”

He pressed his lips together. “I was trying to keep you safe.”

“You were trying to control the situation.”

“I was trying to stop you from running into the woods alone while our cub was missing!”

His voice echoed through the small clearing. There was so much silence one could hear a pin if it dropped.  Logan dragged a hand down his face, breathing heavily through his nose. When he looked back at me, some of the anger had disappeared. “I couldn’t lose you too.”

My chest loosened at the raw honesty in his voice. “I understand that,” I said quietly. “But you need to understand something too. You don’t get to decide that protecting me means taking away my choices.” His gaze held mine for several beats.

I could see the argument forming behind his eyes, but before he could say anything, a soft rustling came from behind us. We both slap in our heels to find Mara standing several feet away.

Her face had gone completely pale.

“Mara?”

She didn’t answer. Her gaze was fixed on the torn piece of Elias’s shirt in my hand. Had she seen something in a vision? I needed to ask her about the blood debt. How much of my past was she keeping from me?

“What did he say?” she asked.

Logan glanced at the rogue before answering.

“They’re moving Elias to another territory. Apparently, the Alpha there owes Sienna’s parents a blood debt.” I didn’t miss the slight emphasis he made on ‘Sienna’s parents’. I watched Mara closely for a reaction, my heart picking up when I found one.

The expression on her face had morphed into one of fear.

My stomach dropped. I immediately marched to stand in front of her. “You know something.” My voice was harsher than I intended but I couldn’t care less. Her eyes met mine and the unmistakable fear in them had me concerned for a spell.

“Mara?”

She swallowed. “Your father and I once helped an Alpha when the Eldryns were being hunted.” My heart skipped a beat. “We had him enter into a blood debt that he would protect us if it ever came down to it and that was all. I don’t know how much Dorian knows or what he’s planning.”

“Why would Dorian–“

A sharp sound cut through the night.

We all instinctively looked up. A black raven swooped down from the trees, circling once above us before dropping something right at my feet. It landed in the dirt with a soft thud.

My eyebrows drew together as I stared at it. A small wooden wolf. My blood ran cold.

This was Elias’s favorite toy.

There was something dark smeared across its carved wooden body.

Blood.
