Chapter 214 - everything would be done with
Camila's P.O.V.
The sun starting to set only settled the idea of Raphael in my head. Memories of what Raphael and I had accomplished so far—these fights would be nothing. I pushed away any negative thoughts or discouraging feelings and welcomed the longing of him beside me as the day started. For it to finish, and the moon to appear, and start the process of a new day. As long as Raphael was confident in himself, that he would overcome all these challenges and everything would be done with, I believed him. That's all that mattered.
Heads turned towards us as we approached the field. Kelvin, along with everyone in the Crescent Moon pack, had already grouped up outside in the field. As they crowded the area, I could smell the dominance. I could sense them watching our every movement; some were shooting hard glares at us, and a few had some distasteful comments about him, about how their pack warriors would defeat him with no problem, or how it wouldn't be possible for him to take down ten strong men alone. The contenders were strong, well-built, and cocky, and none of them seemed to be forced to fight Raphael. Instead, they sneered at him, all willing to fight or kill him. However, Raphael ignored them all. It didn't seem to affect Raphael at all, in fact. He stood with his head high and ignored the comments and the looks. They say they shamelessly bragged about their capability to beat him.
We approached Kelvin at the end of the crowd, and Raphael greeted him formally.
“Oh, I cannot wait for the fight to commence to see your downfall." He snickered, glaring at Raphael. He turned to face me, and a smirk appeared on his face. “Luna Camila, pleased to show up for your mate. I learned of something very interesting a while ago. Something about you being a Lycan and the king's dissatisfaction with knowing about it. Don't worry about it; I'll settle him once you become mine,“ he whispers the last part, glancing over to Raphael.
My stomach churned in me, and I didn't miss the way Raphael's shoulders tensed up at his words.
'Don't listen to him, Love. He's only trying to rile us before the match.' Raphael spoke, mindlinking me. I look over at him, and he gives me a slight nod.
Kelvin snorted in annoyance as he watched our coded interaction. He places his hand on his chest, barely acknowledging Alex, who stood beside me, and the others who came along with us.
“I, Kelvin Vixen, Alpha of Crescent Moon Pack, the son of Huston Vixen and Jane Dorado, challenge you, Alpha Raphael Lucas, to a battle with me and ten other warriors in my pack. Whoever loses, purges his pack and all that he ever possessed to the winner without any hesitation or delay.“
"Very well." Raphael replied, his expression void of any emotions and his voice deep and much calmer than imagined. I couldn't help but admire him so much for it. Despite my annoyance of these people who looked down on him, on our pack, I felt so proud to have a mate so fearless and vigorous as him.
He also proceeds to place his hand on his chest. “I, Raphael Lucas, Alpha of Royal Empire Pack, the son of Damien Lucas and Katya Rodriguez, accept to challenge you Alpha Kelvin and ten of your men in a battle, as requested.”
Kelvin clasped his hands together, a delighted look appearing on his face. “Now, now. Alpha Raphael, you can now proceed to step on the podium over there.” He stretched his palm to indicate the place. "And at the sound of a whistle, the fight may begin."
Raphael had explained earlier that I nor anyone from our pack is allowed to interfere with or touch his opponent while he is fighting. He nodded firmly and turned to me, a small smile on his face.
“I'll be back, so wait right here for me,” he says, planting a kiss on my forehead, and I close my eyes, bringing my hands onto his shoulders before letting out a shaky breath.
“Good luck."
Raphael proceeds to make his way to the front, pulling off his shirt, and I didn't miss the way some of the women in the crowd shamelessly ogled my mate's body, and it took me a lot of control not to storm over to one of them and brawl their eyes out of their sockets. The fight was in wolf form, which means it wasn't really necessary to leave their clothes on when fighting, but I didn't care; the females should keep their eyes away from my mate's body.
