Owen?
My heart froze. I froze as my eyes fell on him. The person who had caused so much pain to both Raphael and me, and who had been the root of all our problems, was mated to Sasha? I mean, all this while Owen has been Sasha's mate, and they kept it a secret from everyone? Why? When? He's been the one causing harm to the pack, and yet he's been Sasha's mate.
"There she is." Alpha Kelvin announced and turned around; their eyes were fixated on me. I quickly looked away when Owen's eyes locked with mine, trying to avoid his tormenting eyes, which I would never seem to erase from my memory. It was annoying that he still had the audacity to glare at me. He should be shivering in fear of being caught, but the fact that the monster has been finally found after months of searching for him brings a huge relief to me. I was glad. So glad that everything would finally come to an end now that they've gotten him. Like Sasha, he was tied with silver chains, which restricted their ability to move, burning their skin at any attempt they made, but I could feel his burning gaze on me. I clenched my hands together in front of me, trying to control my anger, and took a shaky breath as we made our way over to them.
I focused my attention on Raphael instead and could tell that he also has the same emotions as mine. His patience seems to be wearing thin because he looked like he was ready to snap Owen's neck off at any moment. I knew he wouldn't hesitate to do so, but because we weren't on his land, he was restricting himself from taking such action. It wasn't his pack, so he didn't have the right to take matters into his hands except if Alpha Kelvin gave him the go-ahead. He turned to me when I got to them and wrapped an arm around my waist, drawing me closer to him. The warmth of his body eases a bit of my tension, and I lean into him for more comfort.
"You both were right," he said, somewhat gruffly, glancing between Kylie and me. "They've been in this pack for a while now. Sasha here knows how to perform a little spell that made them get into pack territories without being caught. That explains how she was able to help Owen escape from our pack when we were looking everywhere for him. It also enabled her to hide here without anybody knowing."
I nodded and turned to look at her. She was trembling in fear but staring hard at the ground, refusing to make any eye contact with anyone, unlike Owen, who was now glaring at Raphael. Seeing him this close, I noticed that his body was battered with injury and wounds. He had a long dark scar on his left chin, and one of his arms was missing. Reminds me of when my wolf had pulled off one of Madison's arms as well. She had sneaked into my room with magic and tried to harm me, but I was able to get to her first. Sasha must have learned how to use spells from her because I never deemed Sasha as a witch as well. It made sense now. Sasha helped Owen because he was her mate.
"How long have you both been here?" Alpha Kelvin asked before stepping forward towards her. "You sneaked your way into this pack and did horrible acts. You both deserve to perish for breaking rules."
"Yes. Let's take them to the remote land and get them executed. It will teach any intruders not to mess with our pack." One of Alpha Kelvin's men suggested.
That made Sasha gasp and raise her head up for the first time. Her eyes widened in horror, and she began to shake her head frantically. "N-no. No. Please don't kill us. I swear we never meant to cause harm to anyone. Please spare our lives…”
"You never meant to harm anyone, but you betrayed your pack and supported this bastard in his evil doings." Raphael snapped furiously, his body tensing slightly against mine.
"DON’T TALK TO HIM LIKE THAT, you scumbag," Sasha growled back at him, and my eyes widened at her sudden change of expression. "You are the cause of all this. If you had just died in that explosion setup, we would never have come here to hide. You had to survive the explosion and spoil our whole plan."
My wolf snarled at her at how she spoke to Raphael, and I controlled myself from lashing out at her.
It's such a disbelief to watch her this way. This wasn't the Sasha I learned to put a lot of trust in. She was totally different from the caring Sasha I used to know. Kylie was right. She had been acting fake towards me, and these were her true colors. She just deceived me into thinking she was a good person; meanwhile, she has been an ally to our enemy. She has been leaking our information and helping the monster carry out his cruel plans while tricking everyone, including me, into believing she was a good person.
