Chapter 141: Sophia's repentance!
Selene felt relieved and victorious that she had apparently managed to escape Jamal's watchful eyes:
"Selene, now that we're alone, could you tell me why you tried to trick me?"
At that moment, the beautiful werewolf's whole body shuddered, a drop of sweat broke out on her temple, but she tried to remain calm and asked:
"What do you mean I tried to trick you?"
"You tried to use my grandmother to make her look for your spell book, Sophia told me." Jamal stared at Selene
"I didn't use anyone, your grandmother set out to do this of her own free will and because she doesn't agree with what you're doing to me, isn't it enough that you killed Lyall?"
"He got what he deserved, he was weak. Now, as for you, accept that you're mine and stop this pointless resistance, can't you see that you're only making the people around you suffer? You'll never escape me, Selene" Jamal touches his beloved's face and she looks deep into his eyes.
"I've already understood and agreed to marry you, haven't I? What do you want?" Jamal moves his hand down to Selene's waist, drawing her closer to his body.
"For now, I'll settle for a kiss"
Selene knew she couldn't resist, so she surrendered to the intense and passionate kiss of the new Lycan king, who was so happy that he forgot to lock the door. Selene left her room and went to the kitchen to see if she could find Irene and Pavlos, and yes, they were there, sitting in front of the table, talking quietly so as not to attract attention.
"Selene, how did you get out of your room?" Irene asked in surprise
"No thanks to you. But that's beside the point. I came to give you a message from my legitimate fiancé."
"I told you he was alive" Pavlos enthuses and is reprimanded by the two wolf women.
"He's at this address, try to find him as quickly as possible and be careful not to be followed or attract attention." Selene hands him a neatly folded piece of paper, which he then puts in his trouser pocket.
"What's going on here? Why aren't you in your room?" Sophia asks harshly, making Selene glare at her:
"Your brother left the door unlocked, I was thirsty and wanted to talk to my old friends. Why can't I? Am I doing something wrong? Go and gossip to your brother. Isn't that your role now? If you'll excuse me, I'm going back to my prison. Pavlos and Irene, it was a pleasure to see you again and talk to you. Good night!" Selene turns to Sophia as coldly as ever.
"Selene, aren't we friends anymore?" the girl asked tearfully.
"It was you who betrayed my trust and forgot our friendship, Sophia." Selene replied without looking at the girl and went on her way.
Sophia, however, cries even more. Irene hands the girl a glass of sugar water and sits her on a chair, listening to her wail:
"Selene will never forgive me, I didn't imagine that I would cause her so much harm if I took that book, my brother told me that if I took the book for him we would be a real family and I believed him, he said that Lyall wasn't the rightful heir, but he was. My brother and that damned witch from hell tricked me."
While the girl burst into tears, Irene and Pavlos looked at each other.
"Sophia, if you're sorry, why don't you return the book you took from Selene? I think she'll forgive you."
"Sophia, if you're sorry, why don't you return the book you took from Selene? I think she'll forgive you that way."
"Do you really think so, Irene?" The girl fixed her hopeful eyes on the housekeeper.
"Of course she will. Selene has a good heart and you know it, she's just upset, but if you return the book I think everything will work out."
"There's a problem, I don't know where Jamal hid the book, but I'll look for it and when I find it Selene will forgive me." Sophia smiles, wiping away her tears
"That's right. But now, go to sleep because it's late."
Sophia obeys Irene, who takes a deep breath while looking at Pavlos.
The next day, Pavlos took advantage of his time away from the castle and went to the address Selene had given him the night before. Arriving at Erbron, specifically a simple roadside hotel, he knocks on the door of apartment 102, and as soon as the door :
"Young master!" Pavlos bursts into tears, throwing himself on Lyall and hugging him.
"It's good to see you old friend, now pull yourself together, you don't even look like that Mr. Pavlos Artinos always standing coldly without showing his emotions"
"Stop with the irony, Young Master, try to understand my side, I thought you were dead, but after a month and a half of seeing you alive, I couldn't help myself."
"It's all right." Lyall smiles
"You're getting emotional Pavlos? I think you're getting old." A familiar voice echoes in the butler's ears.
"Caleb?! What are you doing here, you little brat?"
"Same thing as you probably."
"We're all here for the same reason."
"Angellus, Ethan, you knew and you didn't tell me?"
"We needed to be careful, it wouldn't be good if Jamal found out I was alive ahead of time. It would ruin the surprise factor."
"So all the alphas from the packs that support the Lycan clan are here?"
"Almost all of them, the Lupines of the Dawn and the Mountain Wolves allied themselves with Jamal as soon as he took over as king and those, I didn't even want to risk jeopardizing what we're planning."
"And what would that be?"
"I'm going to take back everything that's mine."
"How?"
"How? you ask me my friend and faithful servant Pavlos,on the day of his wedding to my Selene, I'm going to attack him and challenge him, he can't deny it, it's the Lycan rule."
"And his allies? They're strong and don't forget that sinister witch, Nix." Pavlos shows concern."
"Relax, old friend. As far as that's concerned, there's nothing like some good old-fashioned intrigue. Selene will drive the witch away and as for the packs allied to the jamal, my allies are stronger. I can't wait to have my wife and children in my arms again."
"I want to help too. What do you want me to do, young master?"
While Lyall and his allies were planning an attack to retake Sirion and the throne, Sophia took advantage of her brother's absence to go into his room and look for the spell book she had once stolen herself. The girl thoroughly searched every corner of the room, finding nothing, until she sat down in the armchair near the window staring at the closet with the doors open, she noticed a gap between the clothes hanging on the hanger, Sophia got up and moved the clothes aside, tapping the bottom of the closet and noticing that in a certain place the sound of the wood was different, she took out the bottom of the false closet letting out a smile: "I found it!".
She quickly takes out the spell book and replaces it with another one that has no relevance, but which has the same cover and thickness as the one she got from Dashell, the wizard who attended to Irene, who explained the situation and did a spell with an ordinary book to replace it with Selene's spell book. All done, books exchanged, Sophia left everything as it was and sneaked out of Jamal's room and into her grandmother's, who was startled by the girl's sudden entrance.
"What is it, Sophia? Where's your education?"
"Sorry, Grandma, I was in a hurry. I need help delivering something to Selene."
"And what would that be?"
"This." The girl shows the spell book.
"My goodness! You've got Selene's book back."
"Yes. My heart ached when she didn't want to be my friend anymore and if I give her back the book she'll love me again, won't she, Grandma?"
"Yes, dear! Let's keep it in a safe place until I can find a way for you to get into Selene's room."
"All right! But Grandma, what about Jamal? What will happen to him?"
"Don't worry so much about your brother, let me talk to him and I hope from the bottom of my heart that he regrets it." Rose hugs her granddaughter affectionately
Later, Rose goes to meet Jamal:
"I want to talk to you"
"Is it about Selene?"
"No, it's about you. Jamal, give up this marriage, Selene doesn't love you, you'll be unhappy and you'll make her unhappy too. And another thing, stay away from that sinister witch."
"I'm sorry Grandma, I can't fulfill any of your requests, I love Selene and I believe that in time she'll be able to love me too and as for Nix, I have a pact with her that can't be broken. If that's it, I need to sort out some things about my marriage." Jamal walks to his car, leaving Rose alone and thinking until he makes up his mind:
"I'm not going to let that bastard manipulate my grandson's life."
