Chapter 73 Sinister Plans
THIRD POV
They had all received the memo. It had come personally to them in a letter.
Normally, to inform them of meetings, the Grandmaster appeared in their dreams, which was what they were used to.
But this time around, it had come in a letter delivered by messenger.
Meet at the Holy Ground. Speak of it to no one else.
It had seemed like a secret meeting for each of them individually, but it wasn’t. The shock on their faces was very evident when they showed up and saw their brothers there.
But still, they had been told to speak to no one, so all they could do was sit and wait for their Grandmaster to arrive.
In a puff of smoke, he was seated in his chair at the head of the table.
“I’m sure all of you are wondering what the aim of this meeting is and why you were all summoned here specially. Well, we have something important to discuss today and I want to make sure that the topic of today’s discussion is not present.”
Hearing this, they all looked around carefully, wondering who had not attended the meeting.
Comrade Donald.
“Yes, we have gathered today to discuss him. As you all know, we are in the process of catching the special wolf and once they are caught, it will be his turn to possess the powers. However, after careful and thorough thought, I came to realize that he doesn’t deserve it.”
They turned to him for an explanation, which he knew was going to happen, so he had carefully planned the lie out.
“Comrade Donald has no records of notable achievements, kills, or territories. He’s just a small Alpha with a small pack. I can’t help but feel that it would be a waste of powers giving him the privilege to possess them. I mean, he won’t make good use of them.”
He could see the look on their faces and he knew that it didn’t sit right with them. They all looked like they had something going through their minds, and only one of them seemed okay with it.
Of course, that one was his lap dog and it didn’t matter whatever he said. Malcolm was going to go along with it regardless.
“Grandmaster, if I may speak.” Mark raised his hand, to which he gave the go ahead. “We are all aware of the fact that his family has been passed over for so many generations and none of them have had the chance to possess the powers of the special wolf. Won’t it be unfair to pass him over this time around?”
He had been banking on the beef between Mark and Donald to make Mark support him, but that didn’t work, so he had to use another method.
“While that is true, it would be very unprofessional of me to pity him and give him what he won’t make very good use of. I’m the Grandmaster because I am very impartial with my judgments.”
Someone else stood up to speak.
“While that may be true, we have to note that everyone here has already taken the powers of the special wolf except him, so who else would we give it to?”
“It would be given to me. Yes, it would be added to my powers so that I would be more powerful and I would be able to rule this cult properly.”
He didn’t fail to notice the look on everyone’s faces. They weren’t okay with that at all.
How could they be, though? As much as they wanted to deny it, Donald had helped them out in one way or another. It had been because of him that some of them had the power they had. It was because of him that some of them were able to capture their enemies.
So even as much as he was disliked, they couldn’t help but feel this was not right.
The Grandmaster was beginning to panic. He needed their support and he wasn’t seeming to get it.
That was the only lie he could come up with. The real reason why he was against Donald had been a secret for generations and it would never be revealed.
If it were revealed, there would be a mutiny and his greatest enemy would take what belonged to him.
He had wanted to remove Donald from the cult altogether, but he had been told that he couldn’t do that.
The initial founders of the cult had been seven brothers, all tied together by the blood covenant they had taken to be by each other’s side till the end of time no matter what may happen.
Even after their deaths, their descendants would have to take over from them and continue in unity.
It wasn’t until seven generations ago that the hatred had started.
That night changed everything. And the story has been passed down from generation to generation, and so had the hatred that came with it.
The Grandmaster had been trained since he was a child to think that way. His father told him the story almost as it had been told to him, tweaking a few things here and there to make it worse than it actually was.
What he had been told caused the hatred that still brewed in his heart till this very day.
He had begun telling his own son the story too, equally tweaking it to sound even worse.
He had to do something or else his plans to take the power away from Donald would fail completely.
“The powers would be shared equally amongst all of us.”
He knew he had gotten them when he saw the look on their faces shift.
He knew how to unlock the greed in their hearts. They were all men and they were greedy. He had been hoping to use that if every other method failed.
“So how do we go about it? You know Donald isn’t going to be quiet and just watch this happen.”
That was a small issue.
“Leave that to me. I’ll deal with it in my own way.”
Now that he had their support, nothing else mattered.
