Chapter 344 New Obsession

“Answer the question, Tobias.”
He loosened the tie around his neck.
“Yes, I heard you but I don't understand why the questions are taking this path. His favorite color is blue.”
Just the answer I'd been hoping to hear.
“So why do you have a purple key chain?”
He looked down at the table and then at me.
“My key chain? Is that what this is about? I have it because my son saw it and liked it and decided to get it for me.”
I could see that he thought I was dumb and he was also getting aggravated by my line of questioning.
He picked up the key chain and put it in his pocket but he didn't know that even the things that weren't obvious, I could tell that he was hiding something.
He was acting all guilty.
“You want me to believe that your son saw a purple key chain and decided to get it for his dad.”
I knew that there was a possibility that it might have happened. I'm not trying to restrict one color to a gender but just from the way his eyes were shifting to the floor, I knew that he was lying.
“Or was the key chain from Alisha? From the time you were dating Alisha?”
The color on his face cleared and so did the frown lines. He suddenly went quiet and sat back in his seat. That's what I wanted. Don't even deny it because I have evidence.
“Tobias, I know that there was something going on between the both of you. She had your photograph in her home. And now, we know that it's not because Lucy was cheating on her husband which means that Alisha lied. But why did Alisha lie? Who would she lie to protect?”
Lana, who didn't care about what was going on, decided to practise her walking skills and she walked over to me.
I wasn't expecting Tobias to come clean so easily.
“I don't know what you're talking about, My Queen. I couldn't have dated Alisha. I mean, I barely even knew her. I only knew that she was friends with Lucy.”
The wheels were turning in my head. Asides the photograph, I really didn't know what else to use to prove that he and Alisha weren’t having a relationship.
He stood up from the chair, obviously feeling very uncomfortable.
“I can't believe that's why you called me here. Why would I have a relationship with Alisha?”
“Maybe because you couldn't have one with Lucy.”
He turned around to face me immediately. I hadn't meant to say that but just from his reaction, I was glad that I had.
“Ah, so I see I'm on the right path. You did like Lucy but you must have made advances to her even though she was married. And since she turned you down, you decided to make her jealous by dating her best friend but she still didn't care, did she? And then you started treating Alisha badly since she wasn't the one you wanted and she found out that you lied to Lucy and not her. Which was what led to the fight where Alisha told Lucy that she stole everything she liked from her. Does that explanation cover everything or should I bring the dates out?”
He suddenly went calm and he came back to sit down.
“Lucy called me the day before she died. She said that Alisha had come to her office to embarrass her. She told me never to call her or speak to her again but she promised to still help me in the investigation. She'll reach out when she has something. That stupid bitch ruined my friendship.”
I couldn't believe him.
“Don't you think you're the only stupid one here? You used a woman because her married friend wouldn't say yes to having an affair with you. Don't you think her feelings mattered too? Do you think she's some sort of doll?”
“Oh please, my Queen! Don't make her out to be some fragile little girl. She knew just as much about this as I did. It was just sex, and Alisha knew it. But she was obsessed with me. She wouldn't let me go, she always knew where I was, always called me. That's more the reason why I broke it off. She was creeping me out. Why do you think she has my picture? She'd call me at night and tell me she was watching me sleep. She was everywhere. Everywhere! And I'm the crazy one?”
Alisha was obsessed with Tobias? I thought she was obsessed with Tim.
“Still doesn't change the fact that you used a woman.”
“I didn't know her. She knew that it was just sex! She knew! I don't know why she felt Lucy did anything wrong. I didn't know she was going to kill her!”
Aha, so the truth comes out at last. Lana had stopped playing with her toy and she was now focused on Tobias.
“Tobias, did Alisha kill Lucy?”
His answers didn't come as quickly anymore. His head hung low and he sighed heavily.
“My Queen, I only found out just recently when she sent me a message. It was a text. It said that it was my fault that Lucy was dead and that if I had just stayed with her, the filthy slut would still be alive. She thought I had gotten Lucy pregnant. I didn't even know that Lucy was pregnant!”
Alisha knew Lucy was pregnant. That confirms that she did look through Sandy's computer but it doesn't prove that she was in the cabin.
“Can I see the text?”
He brought out his phone and gave it to me. The text said exactly what he did.
“I’m going to need the phone to triangulate where the signal came from. Judging from the date of this, I can say that she sent this before she died.”
He nodded and there was still no expression on his face.
