Chapter 343 Weird Questions

Chapter 343 Weird Questions
ADRIANA

Did they do this together?

Tobias didn't seem like a killer.

“I sent him to look for Alisha's hideout. Maybe that was the wrong thing. Hazel, find out where he is and tell him to drop what he's doing and come here immediately. Also, where are you with those phone records?”

“You’ll have them by the end of the day. I'll call Tobias now. Oh, and I was thinking. Maybe we should call Sandy.”

What she said didn't register in my head so I just nodded.

“Yeah sure.”

Had Tobias killed Alisha?

Maybe she wanted to expose their relationship and he had to kill her. But even if he had exposed their relationship, it wouldn't mean anything to me.

Them being in a relationship would not implicate him in any way. Or would it?

Hazel was about to leave the room when I figured out what she had said.

“Wait, did you say you wanted to call Sandy? Why? We already spoke to her yesterday.”

“Yeah, well she said something about Lucy being poisoned to lose the baby. I want to speak to the doctor that treated her.”

That made sense.

“Let me know when you call her. I'd like to hear what he has to say.”

As she left, that left me just staring at the board.

I brought up the file of the accident that Tobias had brought with him that night.

I needed to make sure that it was an accident or else I had to look for two killers.

Gosh, I hadn't even found one.

I picked up the phone yesterday to call the lab technician but I remembered that it was Tobias who had called him. I didn't have his number.

So how would I reach him? I didn't want Tobias to find out that I wanted to speak to him.

So I'll have to find that out by myself.

I decided to call Hazel instead so that I could get her to find his number.

As I picked up my phone, a call came in and I looked at the screen. It was a private number. I didn't want to pick it up seeing how things were right now. Heck, it could be anyone.

“Hello?”

“My Queen, my apologies for calling you without permission. I just had something to tell you urgently.”

I pulled the phone away from my ear.

“Who’s this?”

“Oh, my name is Luke. I'm the lab technician working on Alisha's case.”

My suspicions fell.

“Oh yes, I was just looking to call you. You have something to tell me?”

“Yes, I do. I just finished checking the car and normally, in a case like this where there was little to nothing left, we usually go back to the site to see if we can salvage anything. I checked everywhere but I couldn't seem to find any bit of genetic matter in the ruins.”

Was that supposed to mean something to me?

“Luke, what are you trying to say? I don't get it.”

“I don't think that there was anyone in that car when it went down.”

I looked at Lana to check what she was doing and then I walked over to the window.

“Are you sure of what you're saying? I mean, are you sure that there was no one in the car?”

“I double checked the debris. There was no dna. The only DNA was in the front seat but not on the seat itself. Also, I may be wrong and the fire may have burnt it out but I don't think so.”

Alisha was still alive. That little thing has tricked us.

“Luke, thank you for calling me. Make sure that no one hears about this. Not even the commissioner. Especially the commissioner."

“I understand. I'll call you back if I find anything.”

Did Tobias know that she was alive and did they plan it together? I didn't even know what to think.

There was a knock on the door.

“My Queen, good day. You sent for me.”

Speak of the devil.

“Tobias, welcome. Please sit. I'm so sorry for calling you back here after yesterday. I just remembered that I had to ask you something urgently.”

He sat down across from me and smiled at Lana who seemed to have taken interest in his face.

“She’s really beautiful. You have a lovely daughter.”

Lana smiled when I looked at her.

“Do you like kids, Tobias?”

“Of course, I have a kid of my own.”

I'd completely forgotten about that.

“So you would have definitely had another if your wife didn't go missing?”

He laughed.

”She wasn't my wife. She was my girlfriend and yes, I wouldn't have minded another child.”

I took that with a pinch of salt.

“Did you find anything about where Alisha was staying?”

He dropped his keys on the table.

“No, not yet. My men are on it though. We are yet to find anything about where she was staying”.

How stupid did he really think I was?

“What happened to her was very tragic, wasn't it?”

He nodded.

“It was but in this line of business, we see a lot. A lot of gruesome deaths. This was just one of them.”

I was trying not to raise his suspicions. That won't do anything for me.

“Tobias, I would like to ask you a question and I want you to tell me the truth. I want you to try to tell me the truth. Now I'm not asking you because I don't already know the truth but it's because I want it to come from you.”

He sat up in his seat.

“I’m all ears, my Queen. I would never lie to you.”

We'll see about that.

“What is your favorite color?”

He blinked.

“My Queen? M-my favorite color?”

“Yes, your favorite color.”

“It’s black. What does that have to do with-”

“What about your son, what's his favorite color?”

He seemed stunned about what I was saying. I knew the questions were weird. I just needed him to answer them.
