Chapter 102 Chased My Mate
ELIJAH
The doctor finally let me take Leo home the week after. It was beginning to seem like he didn’t want me to take him home at all.
He kept telling me to come back tomorrow and finally, I was able to take him home today.
He said his throat would take a couple of months to heal which was fine. I knew the extent to which the injury had gone.
I was just happy that he was finally coming home today.
He however, wasn’t happy. I tried to get him to speak to me but he had refused to.
When I entered his room this morning, he didn’t speak to me and he didn’t smile either. So I knew something was wrong, I just didn’t know what.
I tried speaking to him in the car but he still didn’t budge.
So I gave up and decided to leave it till we got home. There, I would have a better chance of speaking to him.
Eventually, we did get home and he got down from the car. I offered to help him get down but he didn’t even look at me and he got down himself.
Hazel came out and he gave her a hug and let her carry him. So the anger was only directed at me.
I carried his things to his room, wondering what I had done this time around. Was it because of the picture?
But I had taken it away when he said he didn’t want to see it. Why was that a problem?
Hazel dropped him in his room and tried to leave but he held her back.
I made a move to leave and they both just looked at me and looked away.
Hazel was mad at me too and she had refused to speak to me. She was mad because of Adriana.
“Leo, what’s wrong?”
He stopped playing with Hazel and looked at me, the smile quickly disappearing from his face.
“Hazel, can you help me ask him—”
“No. Just perfect.”
Leo decided that he was tired of being mad.
“Why didn’t Adriana come to see me? Where is she?”
I should have known that was what this was about.
“I don’t know why she didn’t come to see you. I mean, I know but I don’t know where she is right now.”
I couldn’t lie about that. I had told her to stay away from him and she probably took that too hard.
I should apologize to her.
“Where are you going?”
I turned to look at Hazel.
“I’m going to speak to her. I know that’s why you refused to speak to me so I’m going to speak to her. I hope you will forgive me, your majesty.”
She scoffed and stood up, walking out of the room. I knew what that meant so I followed after her.
“I’ll be back in a bit, okay?”
Leo looked at me and shrugged, laying down on his bed and facing the other way.
Why should I be surprised? He was being raised by drama queens.
As I closed the door behind me, I came face to face with Hazel and I prepared myself for what she wanted to say.
“Come with me.”
I followed her down the hall and she stopped at Adriana’s door. My heart was beating as she opened the door and stepped in.
“Come in. Don’t just stand there.”
I entered the room and something was different.
“What’s going on?”
“She’s not here anymore. You wanted her to leave and now, she has gone.”
I couldn’t believe that so I looked around the room and checked in the closet. It was nearly empty.
“Why didn’t you tell me about this? Why didn’t you try to stop her?”
“Tell you about it? Try to stop her? How could I tell you about it when you were the one who chased her out? How could I stop her when she heard everything you said loud and clear and she hates herself and blames herself for everything?”
No, no. This wasn’t supposed to happen.
I mean, I didn’t expect that she would actually leave just as I’d said. I wanted to take it back right there and then but I was too angry so I just left.
“What is going on? Do you know where she went to?”
She laughed bitterly.
“No, I don’t. And even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you. You don’t deserve her, Elijah. You don’t because you’ve never treated her right. Every damn time, you always take your anger out on her and you never let her defend herself. What’s the difference between you and the monster you saved her from?”
Whenever Hazel was mad at me, I didn’t say anything. I just let her get all her anger out.
Aiden entered the room.
“Guys, what’s going on?” He looked between us.
“He’s just finding out that Adriana left. Like she was supposed to stay when you basically insulted her and blamed her for what happened. If you get your facts right, you’d know that she didn’t bake that cake! She was only trying to help!”
“Hazel, mind the way you talk! He’s still your Alpha.”
I wanted to tell Aiden that it didn’t matter right now because she was my best friend and she could always put me in my place but she didn’t even let me say anything.
She walked out and slammed the door shut, leaving me with my regret.
“When did she leave?”
“The day Leo went to the hospital.”
Shit. So she didn’t even waste any time before she left.
“Did she give any hint about where she was going or say that she would be back?”
“Elijah, she didn’t say when she was going to be back. Hazel even offered to get her a place to stay but she refused it. She wanted to disappear from your lives and I don’t think she’s ever going to come back. She headed into the woods and even though we tried to stop her, she didn’t listen. We did try. She blames herself for what happened to Leo.”
Great, I had successfully chased my mate away.
