CHAPTER 24
VALERIA POV
The reporter said nervously. She had already figured out that the question she asked was somehow wrong.
“Okay, I will ask another question. What pet name do you give your woman?” She asked and Lycan king Xyrus placed his hand on the table in front of us
“I think that should be between us alone. Don't you think so? I am afraid that anyone can call her by that name if it is revealed. So if so it will be between the two of us alone.” Lycan king Xyrus said.
The Elders were very pleased by the interview so they didn't make any contributions.
“This is okay now. The people will be so glad to see this in future. It's an honour to have this interview with you my king.” The reporter said before leaving to join the people.
“Congratulations your majesty.” One of the elders stepped out. “You too Lady Valeria.”
I bowed my head and returned the greeting. I am not Luna yet.
“It's actually a great pleasure to meet you,” I said and they went ages to have one or two words with the king.
I stood beside the table when Adelina approached me.
“I guess everyone doesn't love you that much,” Adelina said and I brushed her words away because they actually don't mean a thing.
“I don't think that should be your concern. You should just use your time making sure you take care of him well.” I said and left her side.
I was standing at another angle when I saw Beatrice. Or should I say she actually saw me first?
“The dance floor has been set up for you and the people are still eager to steal a few more glances at you and the king,” Adelina said in an excited tone and I smiled. This is actually going to be a long night. She is still following me.
“You should stay by his side all night. I am afraid women are lurking in the shadows waiting for him to be alone.” Adelina added and fuck YES! She was right.
They are actually looking at me and I wonder why the king is not back yet.
“I am sure he will find it entertaining. I am not supposed to meddle in his personal business.” I wanted to inform them but then I swallowed the words back.
“I will be with him. You don't have to get worked up by this.” I replied before we eventually walked away.
Beatrice came in time to see me and Adelina walked away instantly, leaving my side.
“You were amazing on the stage. We couldn't stop screaming our lungs out.” Beatrice said and I smiled.
My friends have always been honest when it comes to things concerning me.
“Thank you, baby. I thought I was going to fuck up” I said and heaved a sigh.
However, I already have a feeling I will do well and I am glad Beatrice and Eleanor could see that.
“Why? I think you practised it well for you to deliver it perfectly” Beatrice said and I puckered my lips.
I wish I could let her know the brainless king informed me right on the stage. He was going to disgrace me and I managed to escape. I don't even care if he was trying to test my ability but I hated that for real.
“Where is Eleanor?” I asked and she sighed. She said a man actually caught her interest. The man made his way to the restroom room but Eleanor followed him.
“Fuck! You should have stopped her” I said with gritted teeth and Beatrice raised a brow.
“I am afraid that is what she wanted to do though.” She said and I gave her my purse to hold.
“Let me look for her,” I said but Beatrice stopped me. I looked at her over my shoulder with questions raised in my eyes.
“You can't leave the party. Everyone is here because of you. I think you should look around. They are dying to come to you.” Beatrice said and I looked around me. She was right, the people are actually looking at me even now.
“They're your people and they need you now. I will look for Eleanor.” She volunteered and I smiled.
“Thank you for the favour,” I told Beatrice. She waved at me before leaving.
“Hi. Good evening.” I greet them with a wave of my hands.
“Hello, my lady” the woman said and four of them approached me.
“We are delighted to meet you here, my lady.’
“My pleasure,” I replied.
“I am the founder of the Elegance club. I have a store on the main bridge at the intersection close to the port. I would like to give out my product which I brought with me. I know that giving it to you alone will make my sales skyrocket my lady” She explained and I know this was one of the business strategies. I have a clean skin tone so everyone will definitely rush the product.
“Then you can do that,” I said and her eyes widened in shock.
“Thank you so much” she said in a high-pitched tone.
She beckoned to someone and the box was brought forward. She took out the product and asked for a picture of me with her which I agreed to.
We snapped and the moment she left my side, people approached her and they began to ask questions about the product and what it works for.
“I also have a business.” another woman said.
The next twenty minutes went on like that until Lycan king Xyrus came back. Then I realised the people were actually about to find their partner. It's about time to dance. I followed the Lycan king's lead as we made our way to the front stage, right under the spotlight.
The music began to play and everyone began to come out but I didn't spot Eleanor though I saw Beatrice dancing with a man.
“Is there something you are looking for?” Lycan king Xyrus asked and I placed my hand on his broad chest, my hand almost brushed the pendant which hung loosely around his neck.
“Nothing,” I replied and we continued to move
“Did I do well tonight?” I asked him, clearly trying to just see what he would say and he never disappointed.
“We shall see tomorrow. Remember the party is not yet over.” Lycan king Xyrus said and I rolled my eyes at him.
He only needed to tell me if I did well or not. What is so hard about that?
“Yes, Xyrus. The night is so young and I am dying to have that woman in your arms dancing with me.” I heard Vance first and no words left my mouth when I saw who he was dancing with. It was Adelina and they seemed so close as if they were in love.
As if they were going to kiss right there.
“It's time to change partners. I would love to dance with your future Queen.” Vance said, his eyes were on me.
The music stopped and everyone swapped partners.
“Everyone might think you are not even considering your brother. You should let her go.” Vance said and Xyrus actually let me go.
Vance bowed his head and stretched forth his hand. “May I have this dance? My Queen.” Vance said and I looked at Xyrus, Adelina was already in his arms.
“Yes” I said with a smile and he pulled me to where the spotlight would focus on us. I placed my hand on his chest, looking at him and he placed his hand below my waist, very close to my ass
“Relax. At least I won't do anything inappropriate when my brother is here. Don't you think so?” Vance said. The guy is actually good at reading people.
“Does that mean things will be different if he is not here?” I asked and he smiled, not looking in his eyes.
“You are so quick-witted Val,” Vance said, calling me my nickname.
“Ah. Can I call you that until you are married?” He asked, noticing the surprise in my eyes.
“No. I think you can keep calling me that. It's actually nice to hear someone else call me by my nickname. It gives me strength that I will survive.” I said and Vance nodded.
This time, my back was pressed to his broad chest.
“Wow. This is an honour then.” Vance said and I argued with him.
“It's not,” I replied.
“How long have you been dancing? You actually know how to move so well. You understand your body” Vance pointed out and we changed our position again.
“I didn't know you would notice that,” I said and I looked beside me to see Xyrus actually had his eyes on me.
I wonder how long he has been staring. If he had a problem with his brother then he should have just told me.
“I have been dancing for like 2 years now and I do attend events with my parents so I dance with a few men that approached me” I told him and the words actually left my mouth freely. I think I am kind of free with him.
“And what would you refer to me as later? Am I so among those few men?” Vance asked and I wanted to ask if he is being jealous right now.
