Chapter 216 Complete
Trixie’s POV
The room had finally gone quiet. Not the kind of silence that had filled it earlier, when everyone had been holding their breath and watching the doctors with terrified eyes. That silence had been sharp and heavy, like the entire world had paused just to see if my daughter would survive.
This silence was different. It was peaceful. I leaned back carefully against the pillows, exhaustion pressing into every muscle in my body. My arms trembled slightly as I held her against my chest, but I refused to let go. The small bundle in my arms shifted gently, wrapped in a warm blanket the nurses had brought only moments ago.
She was so small. So unbelievably small. Her tiny body curled against me as if she had always belonged there, like she had simply been waiting for this moment her entire life.
Maybe she had. My daughter. My princess.
A slow breath left my lungs as I lowered my gaze to her face again. I had already looked at her a hundred times in the last few minutes, but I still couldn’t stop.
I didn’t think I ever would. Her tiny nose twitched in her sleep, and every few seconds her little mouth made the faintest movement as if she were dreaming already. Her breaths were soft and warm against my skin, each one reminding me she was alive.
Alive.
Five minutes ago the entire room had been drowning in fear. Now it was filled with life.
Coban sat on the edge of the bed on my left, leaning forward with his forearms resting on his knees. Caden stood on my right side, close enough that his arm brushed my shoulder every time he shifted.
Neither of them had taken their eyes off her. Not once. They kept admiring her like she's the best thing they have ever seen.
Coban exhaled slowly, shaking his head as if he still couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
“She’s so small,” he murmured. His voice sounded rough, like the last hour had scraped it raw.
A faint smile tugged at my lips. “She won’t stay that way long,” I said softly.
Caden chuckled quietly under his breath. “That’s what scares me.”
His hand moved carefully toward the bundle in my arms, and for a moment he hesitated, as if he were afraid to touch her. Then his finger brushed gently across the back of her tiny hand. Instantly her fingers curled. They wrapped around him. Caden froze. I mean he completely froze.
His eyes widened slightly as he stared down at the small hand gripping his finger with surprising strength.
“Well” he whispered hoarsely. “I think she just claimed me.”
Coban snorted quietly beside us, though the warmth in his eyes softened the sound. “Pretty sure she claimed all of us.”
I laughed softly, though the sound came out weak and breathless. My body still felt heavy from everything I had been through. My muscles ached, and exhaustion pressed against my eyelids. But the warmth in my chest made it easier to breathe.
Across the room Cassian and Atlas stood side by side near the end of the bed, both of them staring at their sister like she was the most fascinating thing they had ever seen. Cassian tilted his head slightly. Atlas bounced once on his toes.
“Tiny,” Atlas announced proudly.
Cassian nodded very seriously. “But stwong.”
I couldn’t help smiling at that. “Come here,” I said gently.
Both boys immediately climbed onto the edge of the bed with Coban’s help. They moved carefully, their small hands gripping the mattress as they leaned forward to look at the baby in my arms.
Atlas gasped dramatically. “Wook!” he whispered loudly.
Cassian leaned closer too, his golden eyes wide with curiosity.
The baby shifted slightly in her blanket, letting out a small sleepy sound.
Both boys froze instantly. “She made noise,” Atlas whispered.
Cassian puffed his chest proudly. “She talking.”
Coban chuckled quietly behind them. “Not quite yet.”
Atlas leaned even closer, lowering his voice to a whisper near her tiny ear. “Pwincess Brianna.”
The words were soft and clear. The room seemed to go still again. Tears stung my eyes before I could stop them.
Cassian looked at his brother for a moment before smiling proudly. “Yeah,” he said. “Pwincess Brianna.”
Coban reached over, his thumb brushing gently across my cheek. “You did it,” he said quietly.
Caden nodded beside him. “You saved her.”
I looked down at my daughter again, her small face peaceful against my chest.
No. We all did.
Leigha stirred softly, warm and content. My wolf was proud. "She's so beautiful Trix, they all are." Leigha said as she laid her head down on her paws.
My family was whole. And for the first time since this war had begun,
Everything finally felt right.
