Chapter 37: There’s Something Wrong

Gabriella.

It took Javier and me several hours to go from our previous location to the Blood Lust Pack. We proceeded straight onward to the Palace as a pair. When we entered, Amanda was standing, turned her face toward both of us, and smiled, but I could see from the look in her eyes that she was unhappy that I was here.

Amanda approached me from a close distance and hugged me. I didn't say or do anything in response to her hug, instead standing there.

"Welcome back, Gabriella! You have no idea how much we miss you, especially the maids here," he said as we hugged.

Javier questioned her by asking, "Is dinner ready, Amanda?"

Amanda's gaze was drawn to him. She approached him, kissed his cheek, and said, "It's ready, Javier." She turned around and looked at me before continuing, "Gabriella's return demands a celebration, so I prepared all the delicious food I know."

"Gabriela needs to rest because I know she's been busy today," Javier said.

I turned to face Javier, who was also staring at me and pursed my lips slightly before walking over to him so we could go to the dining room together.

I looked around for Eury as we walked, but I couldn't find her. It's impossible that she had no idea I'd be arriving today.

As soon as we walked into the dining room, I realized Amanda was absolutely correct in her earlier statement. There was a lot of work put into preparing the food, and I did not doubt that it would all be tasty. A large number of maids were stationed all around the dining room. I smiled at each of them, and they all smiled back, but I couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't quite right.

"Let's get some food!"

Javier took the center seat at the dinner table, Amanda sat to his right, and I sat to Javier's left. There was no indication that Alpha Bernard and Luna Gladys were currently present in the Kingdom, as far as I am aware. They have decided that once Javier is promoted to Alpha, they will take a trip around the world to enjoy each other's company and make the most of their remaining years together.

I don't mind Alpha Bernard and Luna Gladys because I don't see them as a problem, and they've always been friendly and respectful to me.

As soon as we started eating, the only sound we could hear was the clanging of our utensils. Nobody else spoke until the three of us had finished.

"Where is Eury?" I inquired about Eury's whereabouts.

In response to my inquiry, Amanda stated, "She is in your old quarters; perhaps she is exhausted from working all day."

I rose from my seat and walked to my former dwelling quarters. I could hear Javier crying out my name, but I couldn't look at him. I proceeded forward on foot until I reached the rear of the Palace, which is where my previous quarters were located.

I knocked three times on the door of my old room. I knocked again, but no one answered when I knocked on the door a second time. Before opening the door, I reached for the doorknob and turned it. After opening it, I found Eury dozing off on the bed where she had been lying. I got closer to her because I could still make out the sound of her gentle snoring.

I kept a close eye on her. I noticed that she had reduced in size, and she gave off the impression of being very tired. I let out a sigh and closed my eyes. We'll talk about it the next day because it's clear that she needs to sleep.

I exited the quarters and proceeded to re-enter the Palace proper. I was greeted by two housekeepers who told me they would show me to my room.

I had asked one of the other maids, "Gwen, why does it seem like things have changed around here?"

"Nothing has changed, Gabriella. Maybe you're just weary and sensing something," Gwen said in response to my questions.

I came to a halt and turned to face Gwen. This is not how Gwen communicates, and I'm sure something serious is happening inside the Palace right now!

I remarked to Gwen, "I know you, Gwen, and by the way you talk, I know you're lying!"

They exchanged glances before bowing to one another at the same time. As I realized my assumptions were correct, I couldn't help but frown.

"Gwen, are you going to tell me the truth? Did something happen here?" I said again.

Before responding, she cocked her head to the side and whispered, "Nothing, Gabriella. Nothing!"

I sighed and said, "Even if you don't tell me the truth, Gwen, I will know everything, so please stop lying to me," before clenching my fists.

Gwen remained silent and bowed. I also looked at the other person we were traveling with, who was experiencing the same issue.

Gwen's statement caught me off guard: "We're terrified, Gab. We don't want to say something."

"Are you afraid? Who are you afraid of?" I continued my line of questioning.

She cocked her head to the side rapidly.

"Do you have a fear of Amanda?"

The look in their eyes changed in response to my inquiry. Amanda appears to be the driving force behind their actions.

After we walked toward my room, Gwen begged me, "Please, Gab, we're not going anywhere once we're thrown out!"

"Whatever happened here inside the Palace or with the entire Blood Lust Pack, I will change everything," I reassured her. "What you say won't happen, Gwen, so don't worry. What you say will not come true." I continued.

Gwen reacted to my inquiry by replying, "I hope so, but what can you do? You are a wolfless, an Omega!"

"Don't ever underestimate me, Gwen. I have changed a lot, and you will see how much I have changed in the next few days," I said with a sly grin.

"Whatever you say, don't blame us, Gab." she kept walking ahead of them.

I got out of bed at a very early hour. After leaving the palace, I ran and worked out in the woods. I spent nearly two hours exploring the surrounding forest before returning to the Palace to begin preparing for breakfast.

I turned my attention to the entrance when I heard someone knock on my door. As soon as it opened, I noticed Eury walking in with a smile. Eury was the first to approach me and give me a bear hug.

Eury leaned in close to me and whispered, "I really thought you were gone, Gabriella! I thought you had left me forever!!"

I stroked his back lightly before saying, "I'm sorry if I didn't tell you, Eury, but the main thing is that I'm here; I won't allow myself to be without you wherever I go."

"Gab, I know you have a lot to tell me, but for now, let's get out of here; Amanda, the witch, is waiting!"

Since Eury had informed me, I had a scowl because I knew from only what she had mentioned that Amanda had made a substantial alteration at the Palace.

"Why, and what exactly took happened here, Eury?"

She gave a reply that went something like this: "I will tell you what occurred, but we have to go out, and I might get scolded."

Before we left my room to head to the eating area, I nodded in agreement. When Eury and I entered the room, I noticed that all of the maids were bowing and carefully placing food on the table and that Amanda was sitting very seriously in Javier's middle seat. When we left, I noticed that Amanda was still very serious.

I inquired of her, "Where exactly is Javier?"

"Javier? Gabriella, call him Alpha Javier!"

Because of what she said, I couldn't help but crack a wry smile.

I retorted, "What if I don't want? And to tell you, Luna Amanda, Javier told me that I can call him by his name!" I informed her.

Her beautiful, angelic features changed into a frown, which looked like she wanted to kill someone.

I kept on with my fun banter with her by asking, "And one more thing, he mentioned that he would think about divorcing you! Is it amazing?"

She shot up in her seat, and her eyes widened as they did so.

"Javier can't do that to me, Gabriella; he loves me and can't live without me!"

"Oh, are you sure? So why was Javier so anxious to bring me back here? You know what he said to me?"

"Don't lie to me, Gabriella!"

" I'm not making it up. He told me he needed me on his side, Luna Amanda. Was it romantic?"

I noticed that her hands were trembling, her eyes were glazed over, and her face was turning red.

"Let's eat. The food that has been prepared will probably get cold by the time we're done."
