Chapter Ninety Eight

Chapter Ninety Eight
Luna's Pov

We all stared at each other as the moon rose higher in the sky.

“This is it for us, I guess,” Nikkie said, and I found myself stuck in his beautiful eyes that seemed to hold all the sorrow in the world.

“If you look so sad, then I really won't be able to go,” I replied softly.

“You both are not in another country or city where we can give a call, or send a letter. You're going to another world entirely. The moment you go now, you will never return.” Emily said, her eyes already filling up with tears, and Elaine hugged her.

“We're all going to be okay. Just know that we're going to miss you too.” She said, patting Emily's head, and I moved to Nikkie on my knees, bringing him closer to me in a hug.

“The heavens know how much I'll miss you. You've been the major source of my change. I'm grateful for all you've done for me, Nikkie.” Then I pulled away, and hugged Emily, as Elaine went to hug Nikkie, “You too. I think I'll remember you each time I see a ginger-headed woman. I'll miss you so much!” I squeezed her tightly.

“And we'll miss you each time we see Keira's face.” Emily replied, sniffing, and the four of us hugged each other dearly.

While the sun was still in the sky, the four of us had gone to a coffee shop, eaten lots of desserts, we'd even seen a movie, trying to make memories for each of us to remember. However, at this last moment, it was so obvious that nothing would ever be enough.

Finally, Elaine and I lay down on the beach sand, ready to fall asleep.

Thankfully, Elaine could come with me. Since a pathway was going to open up. She'd just slip through along with me.

I let Keira's memories encompass me while I looked up at Nikkie with a smile. All the joyful days they'd spent together since they were kids till they became adults made me feel so fulfilled.

It felt like I was the one who had spent all that time with him, and we had known each other forever.

Finally, the water began to move faster than the current, emanating a soft golden light.

“I think it's open.” Emily said, and when Elaine and I got up, we crushed the both of them in a hug that could squeeze their bones.

“I'm going home.” I said, my eyes watering up.

“Damn. I'm happy for you. We'll be fine. We can't wait to punch Keira to death too.” Emily said, with a laugh, and the mood was lightened greatly.

“Make sure you propose to her, Nikkie. She's gone through a lot.” I said, tapping his shoulder, and he smiled.

“I will. Make sure you have a baby too, and stop being selfish. Always do what would benefit more people than what would benefit you alone.”

“Got it, sir!” I replied, and we chuckled.

Elaine went first, waving endlessly, and I did the same, feeling the joy in my heart.

Nikkie was looking at me, his eyes on me alone. It was fine. It was all fine…

I told myself…

However, at the very last minute, I ran out of the water, splashing and gushing the whole thing all over.

Nikkie rose to his feet, his arms outstretched, and I put my arms around him, feeling his own arms come around me warmly.

“I'll really miss you.” I said, holding onto him tightly.

“Me too. Just be safe and happy.” He replied, and for a while, we stayed there, until I bade my final farewell, and continued going into the water, deeper and deeper.

Their waves seemed so peaceful, and finally, I was able to submerge myself in the water.

It felt just like the water in Lenny's place. We swam underneath, following the light on a clear path.

Finally, I was going to my world, going back to where I belonged, and I was glad I met people who had impacted so much on me.

Elaine went first, disappearing completely, and a smile plastered on my face, as I rose, my head coming out of the water gracefully.

“Who are you!?” I heard in a rough voice, and saw me.

Ah, no.

I mean, I saw Keira, with my claws out, ready to strike Elaine.

“Keira.” I called, with a smile.

“Oh. I'm… are you with her?” She asked, stepping backwards.

“Yes, I am.” I climbed out of the water, and squeezed my hair, then looked around.

Home sweet home. How I miss the smell of the forest.

“I smell people!” We all heard, and turned in the direction of the voices.

“What's wrong?” I asked Keira.

“So, uh, Valerie and Damien placed guards, waiting to attack you at first sight. Let's just say I lured them here.”

“Ah, so we're taking them together?” I asked excitedly, but Elaine thrust her hand out in front of me.

“You can't fight, Luna. You're still in Keira's body. You could get killed.”

“Ah, shit. I forgot.” I mumbled.

“I'm Elaine. A member of the council of the Alphas. Unfortunately, there has to be another confused human in my place. And just like you and Keira, we both would have to find a way to switch bodies back.” Elaine explained.

“Ah, I understand now.”

The sound of feet came close, and I leaned against a tree, as guards erupted from everywhere.

Elaine snapped a branch off by pressing her weight on it, then proceeded to wound the branch. I did the same thing. Yes, I practiced fighting a lot in Keira's body.

I might not be fast enough, but I'll be completely fine.

“Two?” One of them asked, as they looked from me to Keira.

“You jerks. Bow to your Luna.” I said, swinging the log over my shoulder.

“Dark magic! Get them all!” One of them screamed.

And oh my God, that was such a bad idea.

I could see my powers igniting in Keira, could feel them growing stronger.

Maini's presence.

I smiled.
