Chapter One Hundred And Two

Chapter One Hundred And Two
Keira's Pov

“Keira, hurry! Breakfast will get cold!”

My eyes fluttered open slowly.

“Keira! Come on, how long do you have to sleep?”

Mom.

My eyes hit the ceiling— a familiar memory.

Damn…

I sat up in bed hastily, but winced slightly. I was still in bloody clothes with the slashes Zane had given me.

But…

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHH!” I screamed, then began to jump, not minding the pain. I bounced on the bed, the tables, a little sofa, and back to the bed.

“Keira, what…?” Mom opened the door, and I flung myself at her, knocking her backwards.

“Mom!” I shouted, tears filling my eyes quickly.

“What's wrong with you? Why are you this way?”

“Mom.” I cried again, burying my face in her chest, taking in her lovely scent sweetly.

“What's going on? What's with the noise?” Dad asked, and I ran to him, “Woah, woah, hold on!” He had to drop the flower pot he was holding just so he could catch me in his arms.

“Keira, what's with your clothes?”

“I was scratched by a dog.” I cried, lying conveniently, still not letting go of Dad as I cried.

“What got into her? Hey, sweets, what's the problem?” Mom began to stroke my head, “Baby, tell me what's wrong?”

“I had a horrifying dream where I couldn't see you both for so long. I forgot about you both, and had my life threatened at every turn.” I cried into my dad's chest, before raising my teary head, and allowing my mother to take over my hugging.

“It's going to be fine. It's just a nightmare. You're awake now.” She said, and I moved back, touching my hair.

“Is it red?” I asked, before dashing back into my room to kneel in front of the mirror. My hair was truly red. “I needed dye. Mom, I need dye.” I said, pushing my feet into a pair of mist-matched slippers.

Mom began, “The store close to the beach sells…”

“Water? Damn, I'm never going near water in my life!” I screeched, flying down the stairs. When I pushed the door open, I saw all the happy people, going about their daily lives.

School kids, skateboarders, highschoolers, couples, friends, working class people.

I missed all of that. Even the tall buildings. I missed everything about the future.

Damn, I'd barely escaped it. If not for the elixir, then I could have really lost my chance.

However, as I raced away from the house to get hair dye to return my hair back to its usual brown state, I was forced to stop.

Emily!

Her ginger hair was swinging back and forth as she tried to search for something in her shoulder bag.

“Emily!” I screamed and began to run.

She looked up at me, “Hey, what's… what's going on with you?”

I jumped straight into her arms, sending us backwards.

“Damn, how was it without me!? Did you miss me? Did you not let mom know that Luna wasn't me? She didn't seem surprised when…”

“Hold up, hold up, what are you talking about? Your parents…”

I gasped, as someone else came closer, with grocery bags in his hands.

Nikkie.

My heart went into a race, and I turned around immediately, tucking my hair behind my ear as my chest threatened to break out in an explosion.

I swallowed, as I began to walk faster. He couldn't see me this way. I looked so messy, rough and bloody.

No way. First time he's seen me in so long, and I look this shabby?

I broke into a run, my hair flying behind me, as a bright smile plastered itself on my face filled with roses in it.

“Keira! What the hell is wrong with you!?” Emily called after me, but I didn't even answer. I simply ran, heading back to the house.

“Mom, mom!”

“Hey, you keep scaring…”

I dashed past her, “Nikkie's back! He's back in the country!”

“What's wrong with you? He's been back since the…”

I let out a screech as I jumped into my room, and began to turn my wardrobe upside down.

“Red doesn't look good on me.” I cried out, as I dashed into the bathroom to brush my teeth and have my bath.

Picking clothes suddenly became the hardest thing to do in the world.

Eventually, I settled on a furry purplish pink cropped sweater, and white denim shorts.

I combed my hair, and hung it up in a high ponytail, before going down the stairs gently. It was my first time seeing Nikkie in years.

He was there at the table, radiating and shedding light everywhere like some light dispensing machine.

“She's finally here. She's been weird all morning.” Mom said, dropping her spoon so she could pour herself a glass of water.

I blushed as Nikkie turned to look at me.

Still blushing, I walked to him, and tapped him on the head as a way of greeting.

“Hi.” I said shyly, before going to sit opposite him, grabbing my bowl for me, unable to look into his eyes and unable to stop smiling either.

“Ah, it's so obvious you're in love with him. Why don't you two get married anyway?” Emily spat out, looking from Nikkie to me.

“I was going to ask her out to dinner tonight.” Nikkie said, and my smile stretched further.

“Hey, if you raise my hopes high, I'm going to kill you.” I said, staring at my food.

If only he knew how much I tried not to forget him, and how empty I felt when I actually forgot him.

I'd been burning to see him. He had to be intentional with everything he was doing.

“There would be no need to get your hands stained with blood.” He replied, and Dad chuckled.

“I’m curious too, but I'm just gonna wait and see what Nikkie brings up.” He said, making us giggle.

Nikkie was huge at indecisiveness.

“Seven?” I asked, looking at him, but immediately his eyes found mine, I looked away.

“Yes, Seven.”

I cleared my throat, “No one's talking about Luna. It feels weird. Did you all agree not to say anything that went on?” I asked them, only for them to look confused.

“I had a dream with someone named Luna,” Nikkie said.

“Me too. And she looked just like Keira. Keira was in some other world, and we had to pass through places we didn't think ever existed.”

“Yes! I remember. Wait… that's my dream. How's it yours too?” Nikkie asked, and I froze, my spoon falling from my fingers.

By setting everything the way it was, did their memories of reality get erased and reformed into a dream?
