**authors note**

***I will switch back to the pack at the end of this chapter. I hope you've all enjoyed meeting the Vamps. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll hear from them soon enough

***Elias POV***

What happened next changed everything. We all felt the lodge move. We even heard Zachary's shout of triumph. What we heard next was a terrific booming coming from the caves.

We had all run down to see what was going on. The Mage was hanging off her chains on the wall, dead!

Zachary was lying on the floor. He also looked dead. But I could just make out a low moan.

'Damn' I thought. Could have stopped this war if he had been. I shrugged my shoulders and went to his aid.

Changing the location of the lodge should have been an easy task. But again, Zachary's ego came into play. He truly was a mad man. Obsessed with the old times. Desperate to return to the goddess realm.

But look at him now. Half his face blown off. He had lost his hand and could barely walk.

Zachary was devastated that the entire plan had backfired.

Even though he was almost killed, he was as determined as ever to return to the goddess realm.

I had no clue how he was going to manage a war, but I dare not say it. Since the accident, the demon that lived under his skin had pushed forward and had a drastic effect on Zachary and his moods.

His powers were now sporadic and dangerous, as was he.

He was constantly angry, he had made enemies of the Mage since the incident. So they had gone into hiding, just like the Fae.

It was so frustrating. He expected me to look for the portal. While keeping the brethren together, and although he did not know this part, I also had to keep Remus updated about our plan.

I admit it wasn't difficult to do with Zachary in the condition he's in. But it was still head work. Laying down false trail. Sending our own soldiers to follow the false leads. And then having to explain to Zachary why all leads led no where. Lucky for me, he was incapacitated.

I don't know if Zachary will recover fully.

All I know is that I must find this child before the Demon does. She will be our only chance of defeating Zachary and his Demon.

May the goddess help her.

A few years, turned into five, then turned into ten. Zachary was besides himself. He knew the child was getting older, getting closer to the time when she would meet her wolf.

I must admit I was proud of myself for all the subterfuge, and false trails. I did have my brother to thank, he had brought the Fae. They were natural born lairs. So leading my soldiers on a wild goose chase was second nature to them.

While all that was going on, Remus had actually been looking for the child. The level of security that surrounded the birth and eventually the placement was so tightly sealed it took him years to find out what part of the country she was being raised. Unfortunately, there were numerous wolf packs in those parts. And again, security being as tight as it was, only wolves could get within a mile of their own pack.

Remus had told me over the years that he was close to finding her, only to discover he was nowhere near her. He had grown impatient with it all, he was on the verge of giving up when he was giving a tip from someone. We still don't know who, but the tip told us where she had been placed.

The pack was called the blue diamond pack. They were not a large pack, and wolf packs were good at blending in. And although we looked. There was no trace of them. Anywhere.

The whole pack had vanished, or become invisible to certain eyes. I'm sure that between them, Selene and the grand Mage were capable of doing it.

So we had to wait for the next part to happen. It was a risk, waiting that long. But we had no choice. We would just have to wait for her to find a Mate. She should leave her pack to go to her mate's.

When she does, we will make our move. We will kill her, so Zachary can't use her to open the portal.

Her blood was the key.

***Present Day***

***Genevieve POV***

It had been a long day. More and more Alpha's arrived for meetings. Some believed. Some didn't. All Genni and the inner circle could do was state what they knew to be true, and leave the rest in the hands of the goddess.

There was still no sign of the traitor Phillip Quint. Even though Rosemary was an integral part of my luna staff, I could see in her eyes how much she was hurting.

I had tried to speak to her on many occasions. Rosemary would say she wasn't ready, and I respected that. I just worried about her.

I made my way to the hospital wing of the pack house. I wanted to stop by and visit Sara, who was a very grumpy new inpatient. I felt so guilty about the added stress around us at the moment. But Sara, goddess bless her, was struggling. She only had three weeks left of her pregnancy. And she was miserable.

Smiling to myself, I had the image in my head of Greg running around like a headless chicken doing everything Sara barked at him. When Sara was still at home in the next door apartment, I had knocked to pay a visit. Greg had opened the door in a flower pattern apron. And the wonderful thing about it was he didnt even look embarrassed by it. He was looking after his Mate. And to be fair to the guy, he was doing an amazing job.

As I got closer to the wing, I heard a scuffling sound. I hurried my pace, and when I arrived it was to see Wyatt, standing in front of the doors to the hospital with Peter Urbana in a choke hold. Peter was trying his best to get his point across to Wyatt that he meant no harm. But Wyatt wasn't having any of it.

''The rules clearly state that only named visitors can enter the hospital. As it is in lock down due to the presence of the Grand Alpha. You are not named. So you don't get in'

I surveyed the situation before stepping in. Peter had seen me now as well and just lifted his arms in a shrug. I smiled at this. They were both big wolves, powerful and strong. The sight of Peter sort of dangling there amused me, and I started to chuckle.

''really Grand Luna, laughter'' Peter said derisively, but sent me a warm smile. Wyatt was also looking at me, and the seriousness on his face was almost adorable. ADORABLE! Man i must be more tired than i thought. I couldn't wait to get into bed.

''Wyatt, would you please let Peter go? I understand that his name was not on the entrance list. But the list does say Urbana family. And as Gamma Sara's father, I think he qualifies. Yes?''.

for a few seconds I could see Wyatt's eyes widen as he realised what he had done. He let go of Peter and sprung away from him like he was contagious. ''Peter, sir. I am so sorry for the mix up. Please accept my apologies. Sir'' Wyatt bowed his head so the back of his neck was exposed, but Peter merely clapped the guard on the shoulder and thanked him for protecting everyone he loved.

When the situation was resolved and I made sure Peter's name was down on the list, I linked arms with Peter, and the two of us strolled the rest of the way to Sara's room in silence. Peter was holding my hand, given it a gentle sqeeze every now and again. I simply squeezed it back. A lot was said in the silence. It had always been this way with Peter.

suddenly remembering something I quickly asked ''Is my father back as well, Peter? Did you return the same time as planned? Peter shock his head And patted my hand. He pushed open the door to Sara's room as he answered me ''No, my Luna. Daniel texted me to say he was going to be a day late. And for me to return without him. He knows how close Sara is now''. As he said the latter, he smiled over at the sleeping figure in the bed.

Sara's tummy was huge And rounded. She looked glorious. Greg was on the chair next to the bed, holding her small hand in his larger one. He was also sleeping, his head awkwardly, was drooped in front of him, so his chin was on his chest. Peter walked around to the other side of the bed and sat in the opposite chair. I asked Sapphire to gently wake Greg up by asking Seb to, but apparently, Sapphire had other ideas.

There was a small yip, followed by a yelp, as one big ass man hit the floor with a thud. Looking dazed and confused, Greg looked immediately at Sara, who remained sleeping. Then he looked around and saw who had entered the room while he slept.

''Grand Luna, I apologise most profusely. I hadn't realised I had fallen to sleep. The last few hours with Sara have been awful''. He looked so scared, in that moment my heart jumped into my throat.

''WHY'' I demanded. Trying and failing to lower the tone in my voice, I linked to Dr Julia and asked her to come straight to Sara's room, ''What's happened Greg, please tell me''.

Before Greg could say anything, the Doctor quietly entered the room, ''I can answer all your questions Grand Luna''. The Dr carried out some obs on Sara who only stirred at the Dr's touch. Seeing me frown at this, Dr Julia began her explanation.

''As you know the reason Gamma Sara was admitted, I will skip that part and get to the new development. It seems someone has been playing tricks on my machines,'' she said with a smile.

''Please explain what you mean by that, Doc'' I said, softly. My mind was racing. I honestly didn't think I could handle any more bad news at the moment.

''I was concerned about the size of Sara's pregnant bump and her escalating blood pressure. I ran some additional blood tests and a new scan. What I saw on today's scan explained everything.

Gamma Sara has another baby safely tucked away inside her. she is having twins, Luna. From what I could see today, there will be a boy and a girl born to Gamma Sara and Beta Greg''.

I ran over to Greg and threw my arms around him, as far as they could go, all the while jumping up and down in pure excitement. Greg had a happy, bewildered smile on his face as he hugged me back. Peter had also come around the bed to clap him on the back. My heart was so full of love for these people that I almost missed the last part of the Doc's explanation.

''I have been forced to administer a sedative to the Gamma, your Grace. The news of another baby sent her into a panic attack that sent her blood pressure sky high. Sara started complaining of a headache shortly after, and then became light headed. Gamma Sara passed out about two hours ago. I have been watching her like a hawk since. The Gamma is stable at the minute, although all her stats are higher than normal, I need to keep her calm''.
