Part two:- The Vampire’s

HOW ARE YOU AWAKE IN THE DAY?

HOW CAN YOU TOLERATE THE SUN??

HOW DOES GARLIC NOT FEND YOU OFF???

Oh, and my Favourite.

HOW DOES THIS STAKE MADE OUT OF WOOD NOT KILL YOU????

All valid questions, to be fair, if you subscribed to the Hollywood stereotypical vampire.

It wasn't an accurate representation of who we, who I really was. And I was bored of the inane questions humans and the like had asked for centuries. I was continuously surprised by the uneducated live stock that was the human race.

The answer to all those questions was as old as I was. Having been left here when the other supernaturals left for the protection of pocket realms that the witches had created for them.

Why was I left here? Because my services were no longer required by the gods and goddesses who created me and my kind. They used us as protection until they abandoned this world. We were made faster, stronger, smarter and finally immortal. Back then, there were many supernaturals walking around this world, each one thinking they deserved to run it. Each proving time and again how inept they were. We should have been given the chance. But we were mere foot soldiers in the wars between them.

The Gods and Goddesses were in turmoil with the Faye. The werewolves were in turmoil with the witches. The witches were in turmoil with them all. It was an unpleasant time. And many of my kind were killed in bloody battles for dominance as we fought someone else's war. The first ten of us created became a sort of blue print for the creation of the others. As we died, more were made.

Although it wasn't that easy to kill us, the only way is to slice off the head of the vampire. It wasn't impossible.

When the human stain on the world became too great a threat to the supernatural's way of life, they all packed up and left this world. Entering into their own realms. As they had all separated, there was no longer any fighting. And as there were no longer any wars, there was no need for the soldiers they created. And they all left without us. Left us to fend for ourselves. Back then, we would live on the nectar that each group of supernaturals had to provide.

For instance, the foot soldier created for the witches lived off a potion of seven herbs brewed together to make a kind of tonic.

The foot soldiers of the Gods were given a tonic made from the apples of the first apple tree.

After we were all abandoned by our creators, we had to learn to survive or die. None of us first created knew ways to replicate the tonics that sustained Us. Out of sheer desperation and a will to live, one of us bit into an animal, and we found that the fangs, so lethal in battle, could also absorb the life force of the prey. It sustained us for centuries. Until that fated day millenniums ago, when, having no animal around and finding themselves starved, they bit into a human. The reaction to this action was so profound, it changed the way we lived our lives. Drinking the blood of a human became addictive. We craved it more and more. We found that we could create more of us by simply biting the human, draining all the life force out of them, so they died. We buried the first hundred humans killed in this way, and we were thrilled to learn that these 'children' of ours would climb their way out of the shallow graves in which we put them in and be like us. Only these 'children' could survive on the human life force. They would perish if all that was fed to them was animal blood.

And so this new creature was the start of what is typically now known as a vampire.

We killed humans to survive, but also made our children out of their children. That much irony should have been illegal. As the human population grew, so did ours. We could not keep up with the exponential growth of the human race, but were glad of the food supply.

As we grew in numbers, the first ten created broke off into separate factions. This worked well at the beginning, but like all creatures situated in close quarters, fighting broke out as the faction Elders pushed for more power and larger territory. After five or six centuries, there were only three elder vampires left. These were the cleverest ones. Myself included. Had my fellow elders thought to protect their neck with metal a lot more would have survive. Metal having a strange effect on the Faye and the Werewolves, in that they could not stand having the metal touch any part of their skin, for it burned them like an acid. They could not physically remove the neck guards. It was only the witches that we feared.

As we learned how to sustain ourselves and produce more and more of us, witch hunting became like a sport among my kind. The elders of the area would always be on the high committees or councils. We never put ourselves as the ultimate power. Preferring a lower rank where we would start to sow the seeds of discord and malice. That is how witch hunting became as prolific as it did during the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. We would whisper words into the ears of the naive. We even allowed the human to think they could seek out and kill witches. I found it highly amusing to start the whisper about a certain woman or child, and just sit back and let the humans take the fall for killing so many.

When my kind had all but extinguished the witch pests, we decided to keep some alive and use them as our personal slaves. The elders knew of certain herbs that would bind a witches magic for a few hours. Just long enough for us to capture and bind them to an individual. As I said before, because of the discontent among the different factions and the fighting that ensued, the bound witch would also perish along with the vampire elder. This seemed pointless, so three centuries ago, we allowed the witches to leave with the understanding that if they came near an area where we had settled, they would be killed on the spot.

This worked, and the witches left my kind alone. We were able to scatter ourselves farther than ever before. Now at the moment, each faction has more than two thousand creatures within the protection of the nest. The nest being ground zero, and where the elder would be situated. Think of us like the bees that pollinate this world. The queen or elder, in our case, sits within the nest. Ruling the workers or drones. The workers make the honey/more of our kind, while the drones bring back the pollen/blood. Which is then given to the elder first, and then shared among the rest of the nest.

My name is ZACHARY, and I rule my own nest. i was the first to be created. I am the oldest, strongest and most deadly of all the elders. I have lived this retched life too long. I wish to go to another realm like that of the other supernaturals. I believe it is my right. I believe I can access one of the portals that can get me to where I need to be. Unfortunately, the portal I need to access is currently being hidden among the werewolves. I don't know which pack it resides, so I must strategically plan to search every one of them. The werewolves will defend themselves. There will be casualties on both sides. But that cannot be help as there are always casualties in a war. And that is what I am proposing to the other factions. We will join up, strengthen our numbers and obliterate each pack. Until I find the one that conceals the portal.

It will probably mean the total destruction of the werewolves. But i fine that i am ok with that fact.

I am Zachary. I will win this war!!
