So holding up her hand she stopped them all and spoke directly to Lesley, who was looking mortified by what she had said. ‘You clearly feel very strongly about this, Lesley’ and when the girl nodded but looked down again embarrassed Genni continued. ‘Girls, I am your Luna, YOUR Luna, this is what I am here for. To look after the welfare of my She-Wolves. Why is it that none of you have made a complaint? You have all been told of the new structure in place, yes’? Staring at them all and seeing a lot of blank faces looking back at her Genni was annoyed to realised that these Girls had not been told about Molly or Sara and the roles they now had within the Pack.
‘Ok, let me ask you this. Have you all been informed about My Beta and My Gamma’? Shaking their heads and looking like they had done something wrong Genni rushed on ‘I have purposely put in place a safe zone, if you want to call it that, where any and I mean Any of my She-wolves can approach either my Beta or Gamma with concerns, worries, complaints, whatever, and they will be brought to my attention and sorted out. But you're all telling me now that you were not aware of this’?
Taylor spoke up again and looking at a few of the girls before speaking, nodded at them and began to explain ‘Luna, we are unmated, unemployed and unskilled she-wolves. We are not deigned important enough to have such privileges as you just described. Apart from cleaning the pack house none of us would ever presume we could just walk in and speak to a superior level wolf. It’s just not done’. Genni was livid, the very pack members that her new structure was aimed at didn’t qualify? No No No. this was stopping now. Genni would call a meeting first thing with Molly and Sara and this will be sorted. As she thought this Sapphire gave her another unpleasant thought so Genni asked again ‘As we have chatted today I’ve heard a few times the phrase “Unmated” and seen the looks on all your faces. Do you not get the opportunity to mingle with the pack? Don’t we have pack meetings every month where all pack members are present? Have none of you had the opportunity to find a mate there?
Genni genuinely didn’t understand why. A girl called Lexi spoke up for the first time now ‘Luna, if I may? Many of the unmated She-Wolves that are under the age of 20 do not get the opportunity to mix with any other class of wolves other than their own. Although there are many unmated wolves and there are many pairings they are not mated and never will be. There just doesn’t seem to be enough unmated wolves interested’. Blushing to the roots of her beautiful golden hair, Lexi dared not look at the Luna. She knew she had spoken out of turn but the Luna had asked so… . She waited for the reprimand. But it didn’t happen, what did happen was their Luna burst out laughing and said ‘So your saying that there are not enough fit young wolves around? That you are all bored with our dating pool, Yes’? Still chuckling to herself a few of the girls joined in and laughed as well. Nodding her head at the girls now and standing up, which made all the omega’s jump to their feet as well, Genni said ‘Leave it with me girls, I will sort everything out. Don’t you worry. AND, the pack house is spotless so go home’. Looking at the shocked but happy faces of the girls made Genni feel great, that she had accomplished something here. As they all scuttled off to put stuff away and grab their coats to leave Lesley asked for a quiet word before she left. Agreeing straight away Genni sat back down and Lesley joined her. Looking very nervous and unsure if she was about to do the right thing Lesley blurted out ‘Luna, I’m sorry for my attitude and I know it doesn’t excuse it but I feel so frustrated and stuck here. I wasn’t good at the. School stuff, I hated being there and only just graduated. But the thought of going back to school to learn a profession made me so anxious I just couldn’t do it. But I’m not stupid, Luna, I’m not. I know there are things I could be good at if I was given the chance’. As all this was rushed out Lesley seemed out of breathe at the end of it so Genni touched her hand and calmed her. ‘Lesley, when you say a chance, a chance to do what? Is there something that you want to do? But cant because of your lack of education’? Genni had apparently hit the nail on the head as Lesley clasped her hand back and started crying softly ‘Yes, luna. I wish I could work at the hospital. I don’t mean as a doctor, but as a nurse or something like that. I know I would be good at it. My mother has always said I got a healers touch’ Lesley sniffed and sighed. Shaking her head she looked at her Luna properly for the first time, she was so beautiful, with her white hair and her perfect figure. But what Lesley had not expected was for the Luna to be so genuinely lovely. Bring her hand up to her lips, Lesley placed a small kiss on her Luna’s hand. Getting up quickly she bowed and ran off to get her things and leave. Genni just sat there staring after her, shocked that there was so much unhappiness in the lower ranks and appalled with herself that she hadn’t known. She was their Luna for Goddess’s sake. That thought stopped her train of thought, getting angry now Genni and Sapphire both made a vow to be better but also to care more than their so called mother did about them. Selene had proven tonight that although she was their mother and although she loved them, she loved being the Goddess a lot more. What Sapphire meant by that was their mother clearly liked to be in charge and in control and as they had proved to Selene tonight that they are stronger than she expected them to be they had seriously put their mothers nose out of joint. Leaving them the way she had tonight showed to two of them that The beloved Moon Goddess had a temper and liked to get her own way. Rubbing the spot between her closed eyes, Genni tried to ward off the headache that was forming. Looking at the clock above the door she could see it was now 6am so she linked with Molly and Sara and told them to meet them in her office at 9am. With her eyes still closed Genni didn’t hear Martha coming into the kitchen so jumped it fright when she heard the frying pans hitting the stove top. As Martha was in a world of her own after spending a very nice evening with Daniel, she let out a yelp of fright when she saw Genni too. Both women started to laugh as Martha came over and asked if Genni needed anything.
‘Martha, could I pick your brain for a second’ Genni asked the older women, who looked shocked but very pleased ‘Of course, Luna. Ask me anything’ frowning at this Genni held up one finger and said playfully ‘that’s not going to do at all, as I fully intend to call you Mom after you marry my father I do expect you to call me by my name and not my title’ Martha looked genuinely shocked at this pronouncement and started to cry happy tears ‘are you sure. It would be an honour to have you call me Mom. It would be a dream come true for me, to have a daughter’ Martha admitted. Standing up so she could hug her Genni asked again about the brain picking, chuckling softly both women sat and started to talk. Daniel, who was about to follow Martha into the kitchen stopped at the door that lead to the the little apartment that was just off the kitchen. He could see that Genevieve was already there and was about to make himself known when she asked Martha something. Hearing her proclaim that she would be calling Martha Mom after the wedding had Daniel puffing out his chest with pride at his daughter. She had been and was going through so much at the moment but still managed to make those around her feel special and needed. She truly was a gift from the Goddess and he was so proud to be her father. Backing away so he could give the two most important women in his life time to bond, Daniel made his way out the back door and toward the training ground.
