Towards the evening Jonas told Genni he was going to meet Greg at the training field and although Genni wanted to know why Jonas told her it was a guy thing and that if he needed to, he would tell her later. Jonas Knew that Genni was a powerful She-Wolf, Jonas knew that Genni was a wonderful Luna but Jonas also knew that some things said between men had to stay between men. As Jonas got nearer to the training field he could see Greg or rather Seb running around the perimeter, he seemed to be going very fast and Jonas knew at once that his instinct had been right, there was something wrong.
When Seb saw his Alpha he stopped immediately and trotted over sitting just in front of Jonas‘s feet. Looking down at his Beta, Jonas linked and said ‘So a run it is then’. Jonas went over to one of the benches that lined the training field and stripped off, within seconds Jax stood there. Without waiting another second Seb ran off to the opposite side of the field where the tree line stood, Jax was straight after him and within seconds had not only caught up with Seb, he had actually overtaken him. They ran like this for nearly an hour, Jax said nothing but simply waited for Seb to begin talking. Not far from the secret clearing there was a stream that cut through Jonas‘s territory, it was a beautiful area full of old trees that formed a natural canopy, the ground was always soft with moss and the smell there was just incredible, a mix of trees, flowers and foliage. Seb jumped straight in to the stream at its deepest point but when he emerged Greg was back in control seeing this Jax changed back himself. The two men sat next to each other on a large flat rock that extended naturally out from the bank. Jonas waited but Greg was silent for what seemed like hours, they just sat in a comfortable silence and as the Sun started to go down, said Greg started to talk . ‘Jonas I don’t know what to do? I’m so consumed with worry about Sara the baby’. Jonas knew that it was something to do with the fact that Sara was not pregnant so he pushed a little more and asked Greg to explain why he was so worried. Shaking his head a little Greg told Jonas that he felt sacrilegious. This surprise Jonas who declared ‘Greg what are you talking about? Everybody in my pack knows that we have one Goddess and we pray to her, YOU pray to her. I have heard you doing it so why would you call yourself sacrilegious? I’m afraid I don’t understand my friend’ said Jonas very troubled now. Greg went quiet again but only for a minute or two, then Greg dragged in a deep breath and when he exhaled the words rushed out of him ‘listen man, don’t get me wrong on this okay. I love Genni and I am so very grateful that she was able to save my Sara. But if Sara was indeed pregnant when Genni used her abilities on her will this mean that my baby will have certain abilities to? I don’t know if I could handle seeing my boy used like a pawn in a war game’. Greg hung his head now so that his chin was basically sitting on his chest and Jonas could see a lone tear fall.
‘Have you been holding this in the whole time? Why didn’t you come to me with this sooner Greg! You’re my best mate, we have always told each other things that were troubling us. Remember, you used to say all the time, “A problem shared is a problem halved” how many times over the years have I heard you say this to me. I know that my station may give you a certain wariness that stops you talking to m as a friend but I hav always told you I am not the Grand Alpha when we hang out like this, I am simply Jonas Quint. And I don’t think you’re being sacrilegious my friend, I think you have a genuine fear but I also know the right person to speak to is your Luna. If anyone is going to know what to do, she will’. Nodding Greg sniffed and then wiped his nose on the back of his hand to which Jonas declared him a pig and the end result was Jonas being pushed and Greg being pulled back into the stream.
Meanwhile Sara was sitting on the sofa in the Alpha’s apartment but this time only Genni was there. Looking at her best friend Genni remembered the times that she would go to the Urbana’s home and just hang out, she loved sitting around the dinner table eating the fabulous food that Molly had cooked. Sometimes Peter was there and sometimes he was late. But he is always made the effort to arrive before they started dessert. Genni loved that about this family, she loved seeing the devotion that Molly gave to her husband and daughter and the simple truth of it was that Genni had always been a little jealous, not of Sara, just the situation. As her own home life was sometimes unbearable. And even though she knew her father knew nothing of the way Silvia had treated her it’s still burnt knowing that it had happened and knowing that her father had been so busy with everybody else’s business he had not noticed the problems under his own roof.
‘There is something wrong Sara, I know you and I know we are excited over the baby but there is an underlying tension there. Please tell me what it is I want to help’. Genni said this so earnestly that Sara grabbed her hands and pulled them to her face, not speaking for a moment she seemed happy enough to just hold the hands to her face, when she finally let Genni’s hands go she told her the same worry that Greg was telling Jonas about the baby. Sara felt almost traitorous for saying these things, she knew what Genni had to do to bring her back and Sara also knew that even if she lived five lifetimes again she would never be able to pay Genni back for the gift that she had given her. But saying this, Sara was also very aware that there could be risk to the baby. For a few days after Genni had saved her, Sara could feel a small amount of her power rushing through her veins. And even though it was an infinitesimal amount of Genni’s power it was enough for Sara to see just how powerful, how special her best friend really was. And feeling the same way as Greg, Sara was terrified that the baby she now carried had somehow been given a piece of this power. Looking at Genni now Sara stated as plainly as she could ‘I don’t want Zachary to know about this pregnancy, because I believe that if he does learn about it he will believe that my baby is linked directly to you and your abilities, and although I don’t know what that will mean. I worry it would mean that Zachary will want to have my baby so he can exploit any abilities he has. Having used people before it makes sense to Greg and I that he may use the baby to overpower you and Jonas and of course this pack. I can’t sleep Genni, I’m not eating properly, my mom is so worried about me and Greg she’s not able to do her duty to you. And, well, Greg is just beside him self with concern and I don’t know the words to say to calm him’. Sara was looking at her Luna now and Genni could see the pleading in her eyes. Her best friend needed her help and Genni decided there and then that she would go above and beyond to get Sara her answers.
