***Genevieve POV***
''I would like to know a little more, and if you know, I would like you to share it with us'' I gestured around the seating area.
Hilda nodded, “I must warn you, even I do not know everything, only Goddess Selene knows all”. As usual, everyone present said ‘blessed be’ at the mention of the moon goddess.
“I will tell you all I know, if you want more answers, then you need to ask the grand Mage”. I dipped my head to show I understood. “I want to know how my mother made contact with your Grand Mage, I’m a little fuzzy on that?” I asked tentatively, hoping it was a question Hilda would know how to answer.
Hilda started to speak, and for twenty minutes, maybe longer, we all listened in rapt attention.
“As you remember me telling you, the Goddess Selene needed the help of the Grand Mage to create you and make your essence human. In doing so, certain spells needed to be used. Because of this and of course your mothers' powers, they understood that you would have certain abilities, but you could also have certain powers, and that was the unknown part of the whole thing''.
''The Grand Mage could not foresee which powers you might have, if any. Therefore, it was promised to Selene that My Coven would care for your human mother and, of course, you, when the time came. I know I showed up here unannounced, and I am sorry for that. I assumed wrong, and that was my fault." Hilda lowered her head as she said this. shame clear on her face.
''My coven was alerted to the fact that you had received your wolf and that our promise was to be upheld. The Grand Mage spoke to me in a dream and told me that I had been chosen to guide you. When I arrived and saw you for myself, I was a little shocked by how little you knew about yourself. I had been told Selene would make a link to you and tell you about your destiny''.
Hilda looked at me expectantly. I confirmed to her that I had linked with my mother, then explained all she had told me. Hilda looked genuinely shocked for a moment. ''Is that all you were told, Your Grace? Your mother said nothing else to you?''.
I shook my head, pissed off now that there was more I should have been told. I heard Sapphire growl in my mind, 'I'm right there with you sister' I said back. Hilda caught my attention again when she began speaking again.
''We should speak of your abilities and possible power, Your Grace. I can tell you that as you are In Essence, the Goddess, you can speak or mind link to any Wolf from any pack, anywhere in the world''.
My eyes now were wide open, and I looked amazed at what Hilda had just said
“Any wolf, anywhere? Are you serious?” I muttered, incredulously.
“That is not all, as you are the living essence of the goddess herself. Then you also can make any wolf submit to you. This also means you can calm any wolf whenever you felt the need''.
''The other ability is of course the ability to read the minds of any wolf you have been in contact with. You, and only you, can do this without permission, as they are bound to you''.
Hilda must have seen me frown at this, as she explained ''Your Grace, you are, in essence, the mother of all wolves. It is this reason that gives you the ability to link with any wolf. You don’t need to be physically with them or near them. You can call to their inner wildness. This means you may call upon any Wolf to aid you in the battle to come.
I must have looked ludicrous with my mouth hanging open, I couldn't help it. Mother to the wolves? Links with anyone anywhere? I looked at Jonas, seeking comfort, only to find my astonishment shining back at me.
“When you say battle, who will we be battling? I know my mother said it involved the vampires and their desire for dominance over the other realm creatures. Will this mean we will have to physically fight, or can the situation be resolved peacefully? Is that why I am here? Is that what my mother intended for me, to stop the war, to stop the battle before it even starts“. I glanced around at the others while I said this. I could see they were all waiting expectantly for the answer.
“From what we have foreseen you were placed in this realm to attempt to stop the vampires from reaching their goal and becoming the dominant species. I’m sure I don’t need to tell any of you that if the vampires succeed in their plans, it would mean the destruction of all the Wolves, Mage and of course the Fae. they have always vowed to be impartial but I am sure that when the fae queen is told what has been foreseen and introduced to you, she will have to accept it, and then hopefully join us in a fight. Be it physical or not. I’m sure that when she finds out that there is the possibility that they could all be wiped out she should willingly be on our side”.
***JONAS POV***
I had been listening to all this, and not said a word. It was difficult to get a word in between Hilda's explanation, but I also had to listen to Jax, and Jax was unhappy.
He needed to know whether this was going to be a physical fight. I admit I needed to know too, so I could start to prepare my warriors and my pack for what was to come. The problem was, I didn’t want to create a full-scale panic, but also believed every werewolf needed to know.
“I think it’s best to have a meeting or summit of some kind, so we can inform the Fae Queen and the Grand Mage. It would, of course, mean setting up meetings with numerous alphas and to be honest with you, Hilda. I wouldn’t know where to start setting up a meeting with the Faye Queen”.
Even though I had said this out loud, my inner monologue, thanks to Jax, was running at ten times the speed. I could feel Jax pushing forward, wanting to give his opinion, but I felt Jax would add nothing of value at the moment. ''What is needed is for the grand alpha and grand Luna of the werewolves to call an assembly. Asking as many Alphas and Lunas to attend.
Hilda agreed with me and said she knew how to get hold of Sophie Queen, and she would try to bring the Queen as soon as possible. “It will mean me having to leave for a few days, your grace, but I do this with the understanding that your mate and his Beta will be more than sufficient to watch out for you until I return."
I felt like she had slapped me. Hearing the shrouded insult enraged Jax, so I had to attempt some damage control. ''I can assure you, Mage, I am more than capable of protecting my mate'' A small growl left my throat to emphasise what I had said. I could see Gregory nod his head in agreement.
My mom was looking at Hilda now. You could see she wanted to say something, but perhaps she thought it was not her place. Before I could say anything to her, Genni spoke up and told the group that everyone had the right to an opinion and had the right to speak their opinion without fear of judgement. I could see Mom relax slightly. Genni had said the right thing to alleviate her mother-in-law’s fears. I was so proud of her. My Dad, however, was silent, and I didn’t know if that was a good sign. I could see the stress take over my mate's shoulders. She needed everyone here to be with her one hundred per cent. I was going to make sure it happened. I would not let my beautiful mate down.
***Genevieve POV***
“Does this mean you will call all the Alpha from around the world to this place?” Rosemary asked Jonas. I was just as interested in the answer and glanced at her to show unity.
''I doubt we would need to do that Mom. I will just arrange for a computer conference and get as many as possible to participate”. Jonas sounded so composed and sure of himself. I was so glad I had him on my side. I smiled softly at my mother-in-law. Neither Phil nor Rosemary liked to use the computer, and Rosemary called it ‘that dreaded box’.
This thought had me smiling even more. Jonas looked up into my smiling face, then. I Heard his voice, for my ears only. 'I still find it astonishing that this beautiful creature is my fated mate. I feel so humbled that the Goddess Selene would choose me to stand with you in the fight to come''
His words washed over me like hot bath water and I could feel myself relax slightly. I cupped his face with my hand and softly laid my lips against his.
I heard a little cough and broke away from Jonas. I was quite sure I had turned a deep red. I heard Gregory snigger and also heard the slap as it made contact with his head.
Smiling at Rosemary, I linked to her to say thank you. I saw her eyes widen for a fraction of a second, then heard 'Us girls got to stick together', and I nodded to show I had heard her.
Hilda spoke up again ''I still have a few things to tell you about your abilities, Your Grace, would you like to schedule another meeting?''. I flushed red again and apologised for my show of affection, stating it was hardly the time or place for it. But Hilda would hear no such thing.
''Your Grace, it is this very bond that you have with your mate that allows you to channel what powers you already have. I have already seen your power of control. You can calm down a situation with a simple hand gesture. I am also sure you have a certain amount of healing ability.
My eyes were like saucers again as I heard this
''The Grand Mage told me that when the magic begins within you, you will be extremely powerful. I do not doubt your abilities, your grace. I am so honoured to have been chosen as your magical aid. I would like to make a vow of allegiance to you and Grand Alpha Jonas. I vow to always be there for you, I vow to shield you whenever there is a threat, to guide you if you ever feel lost and to always tell you the truth in any situation. I swear fealty to Your grace and Grand Alpha Jonas, I swear to lay down my life to save you.”
After saying this, Hilda bowed her head to both Jonas and me. I couldn't help the tears that threatened to fall as I felt a click deep within my chest.
''The bond is now in place. This means I am tethered to you now. Just like one of your wolves. I will leave today, so I can seek out the Faye Queen. I suggest you tell your pack what's going on, Your Grace. Time is moving on and we need to be prepared”.
with that being said, Hilda stood up and walked to the door, pausing only to look back at me. Her eyes had a suspicious shine to them as she bowed again and said 'Blessed be to you, My Goddess'.
And she left.
