***Genni's POV***
Trix was sleeping peacefully at the moment. So I decided to go into her little kitchen and get a drink. When I entered the room I was pleasantly surprised to see state-of-the-art appliances. When I had suggested to Jonas that the Nanny should live in 'in house' so they would be on hand I only envisioned a standard double room, here in the pack house.
When I saw for myself just how small the rooms were I had decided to open up a suite of rooms for purpose. Having what was primarily a self-contained small apartment made up made me feel a little easier about asking whoever secured the job, to live in. I was already prepared to add more rooms if the new Nanny had a family of their own.
Then Trix had applied and the rest, as they say, is history. Looking around the perfect little kitchen I was suddenly so grateful for Jonas. Although it was my idea to make the Nanny live in, Jonas had made sure they would want for nothing. going that extra mile to ensure the suite would be a little sanctuary. Smiling softly to myself I took a bottle of water from the well-stocked fridge and made my way back to the bedroom.
I stopped as I heard an unfamiliar noise. Listening to it again I sped up when I realised the sound was coming from the bedroom. Standing by the side of the bed I looked down at Trix, who was no longer sleeping peacefully.
***TRIX POV***
I was wading through what felt like a treacle. My legs were being veld in the vacuous substance and trying to put one foot in front of the other was a slow and almost painful task to undertake. I looked around me, trying to find a familiar landmark. I seemed to be in that strange forest. the one I was in before I had fainted. only this time it was dark.
My anxiety kicked up a notch as I heard a low rumbling sound nearby. I frowned as I listened with all my senses, I shook my head confused. The more I listened the more the rumble sounded like a purr.
Not sure exactly what was going on I suddenly had an all-encompassing need to see the thing responsible for the sound. The sudden need spurred me on and I doubled my efforts to get through the thickening liquid. almost as if by magic, the river bank appeared before me. I reached the edge after what seemed like forever and slowly managed to pull myself up and finally out of the 'water'...
This was a very curious place. Even though it was dark, I could see perfectly well. I was standing in the same clearing as before. There was no wind, no breeze. But I could still see the tops of the trees swaying back and forth. The moon was full and at its highest, it gave everything it touched an otherworldly look.
I was still curious about the sound I had heard a few moments ago. Looking around from where I stood I could see a small group of trees, as my eye's adjusted to the dimness that surrounded me I noticed that something was sitting in the shade under their natural canopy.
''Should I walk over there'' I whispered to myself. I should have been afraid. I was in an unfamiliar place. I could not know if the 'thing' in the shade was a friend or foe. But, I did know. Instinctively I knew that I was safe. Just to be on the safe side I decided to call out first.
''Hello? Are you here to meet me''?
As I spoke the figure shifted, sat up maybe? When it had finished moving I could see the outline of a huge wolf. I couldn't say what colour it was but, instinctively again, I knew that the wolf was a female. My throat tightened with the unshed tears that suddenly appeared.
The closer I got to the wolf the more anxious I was getting 'Why did I get pulled into this realm again' and 'What would this huge wolf want with me'?flitted through my mind as I finally stood in front of one of the most beautiful wolves I had ever seen. I bowed my head and made sure the back of my neck was visible. I saw the wolf move, and wariness filled me again but to my surprise, I watched as the big shaggy head bowed at me, too.
It was when the large head was bowed that I noticed her ears. Right on the very tips of them was red fur. bright red fur. I could feel my stomach drop. The more I looked at the She-wolf the more I noticed, it wasn't only her ears that had red on them. Starting at her massive paws, which were also the same bright red, I scanned her fur. As my eyes reached the chest area I noticed that the fur had turned red again. Itching to see more of the creature I slowly shifted around. The wolf remained as still as a statue while my gaze took in all of her. The red fur reached around from her chest and linked on the back of her neck, where two lines of red ran parallel to each other down her back where they met at the base of her tail. The red disappeared then only to begin again on the tip of her tail. You would have thought it would look somehow gaudy. Black fur with crimson patches here and there. But it didn't, the wolf was beautiful. majestic.
I asked the only question left in my mind ''Could you please tell me who you are? And, why am I here''? I waited with bated breath for the response. scared to hear it but also, for some reason, excited. The large animal didn't speak for a few seconds and I thought I had not shown the appropriate respect. I apologised quickly and asked the wolf if I should leave her alone. I honestly didn't know why I was meeting her this way, or why.
The wolf started to speak then, its voice a soft and gentle tone " I will introduce myself'' she said. For a moment, the wolf looked nervous, not sure how I knew that but I did.
" My name is Jewel. I am the wolf that will be linked to a special human. We both have an important role in the war that is to come. The goddess Geneivive kindly allowed me the use of her sacred space, as she knew that the meeting would be a difficult one, and an emotional one. Meeting in this realm allows me the time I need to allow my human to adjust''.
"WOW" was all I thought. Then another thought crashed into me making my stomach twist again "I shall leave you in peace then, Jewel. The human who gets you will be very lucky indeed". I bowed my head once more and turned to leave. Not sure where I should go or how I left this place. I stopped walking as I heard my name come from the wolf's mouth.
"Dear sweet Trixie, please come back at join me. There is a lot to discuss" I stared open-mouthed for a fraction of a second at Jewel. How did she know my name? I stared at her a bit longer when I remembered to shut my mouth, which closed with a snap. I took a deep breath. Sat down opposite Jewel and squared my shoulders.
"You know My name. How? why"? I shot out, rather rudely. I quickly apologised which seemed to piss Jewel off. I was so confused. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and tried to centre myself as Luna Genni had shown me.
"Let me speak first, Trixie. All will become clear to you then. Would this be okay"? I nodded at Jewel's question. More than ready for some answers.
Jewel thanked me for the chance to explain. then said something that had me questioning her sanity. For what she said could not possibly be true. however much I yearned for it to be so.
" Trixie, I am here today to meet my human. I already told you that. My human turned 18 five minutes ago. Usually, the human and wolf would bond. That couldn't happen with my human. You see, my human is so very special. so special in fact I had to set up this meeting with her so we could bond face to face. Do you understand, Trixie"?
I understood. Yes. I just didn't see what all this had to do with a wolfless girl. Or was it the moon goddess had a really shitty sense of humour!
I frowned when I heard Jewel chuckle "Probably best to not say or in your case think that way about the Goddess".
Huh, I didn't say that out loud. The only way Jewel would have 'heard' me was if she could listen to my thoughts.
" Are you Listening to me? Are you able to connect with my mind? I thought only paired souls could do that. until you allowed your pack members to do it"?
" I am not sure why you are telling me all of this, or how you were able to hear my thoughts. Please, just tell me straight'' I demanded quietly.
" Sweet Trixie'' Jewel said softly " I can hear your thoughts because you just turned 18. I can hear your thoughts because YOU are who I've been waiting for. You are my human''. I did let my mouth hang open this time. I may have even drooled a bit. I wanted to be one hundred per cent sure before I responded to Jewel.
"Trixie, I AM YOUR WOLF".
