The Hideout Discovery

The Hideout Discovery
Lucien's POV

With my sword clutched in my hand, I set out to look for Sylvia.

I stared at my team once again before I turned to leave when I saw Vivienne walking towards me.

I stopped and watched her approach while she stopped in front of me and smiled.

Then she placed her hands on my chest, readjusting my already perfect dressing.

“I'll be here waiting for you, Alpha. And I hope to hear good news about the maid who tried to jeopardize our pack” she smiled.  “Also, stay safe”

I smiled back at her. “Of course, Vivienne”

Without another word, I left her side, leading the team out of the penthouse, Rodrigo following closely behind me.

The horses had been prepared, being held outside.

We were heading to the woods, and I figured out travelling with horses would be better, and would make movements much easier.

I climbed on the back horse which had the same dark aura as mine. Rodrigo took a brown, the captain also had a brown, the rest of the soldiers trailing closely behind our horses on foot.

We set out of the pack, the pack members bowing the moment they caught a glimpse of me on the horse.  I heard some of them whisper about what I had done the other day when Sylvia was to be executed only to set out with soldiers looking for her now.

A smirk curled up the corner of my lips, the smirk darker than any dark thing I'd done today.

Soon, we were out of the pack, heading down the nearest path into the woods that led south.

My gaze darted around everywhere, nose sharp as I looked everywhere for Sylvia without getting off the horse.

“Keep your eyes sharp! She could be anywhere” I roared to the guards.

We spread out, searching the nearest places we could search but no one was found, only animals who ran at the sight of wolves.

We went further, again stopping at a place where I could still see blood stains which had been dried on the floor.

“It's this place, Alpha” Rodrigo whispered and with the way the captain strained his ears to hear what we were talking about, I realized he was with Vivienne too.

He wanted to get information to take back to her. Silly, I wasn't a fool, as I had caught that.

“This is the last place she had been located. She had fought with some assassins and lost a lot of blood apparently. She shouldn't be far away from here.” I said.

The soldiers spread out, searching the places and everywhere which was nearby.

I didn't get off my horse as I watched everything unfold, while Rodrigo and the captain also joined in the search.

Sylvia. Where the hell are you?

After moments of searching and walking down a bit, a soldier called my attention to himself.

“Alpha, there are footmarks”

I moved my horse closer to where he was standing, getting off the horse.

I crouched down in front of the first footmark that was visible in the sand.

“It's recent,” I muttered.

Someone was here, and not even one, there were three, surely men. But they must have seen her.

“We follow this path and trail this footmark” I said, mounting my horse again.

The soldiers moved ahead of me, finding more footmarks as they led us deeper into the woods, like we were going to the end of the world.

At one point, we almost lost the footmarks, as there were bushes everywhere and it was difficult to find out where they had passed among them, but when the soldiers spread out, searching for the trail, they were able to find it, the journey resuming.

Soon, we were forced to halt as the footmarks suddenly disappeared. The path was clear, filled with sand, but the footmarks suddenly disappeared.

It should mean one thing, that it was a dead end and we wouldn't be able to find Sylvia here, but no.

I could scent her. My mate was somewhere around here, so close that my nose was filled with nothing but her scent.

“She's surely around here, search every nook and cranny of this place!” I roared.

The soldiers got into action, searching everywhere like I had instructed.

I also joined in the search, moving from one place to another searching for her, but the scent was fading and the only place where I could smell it strong was where the footmarks disappeared.

I returned to the place, narrowing my gaze which roamed the environment.

There was nothing else except for wet grass which was in front of me.

Maybe……

I walked, carefully taking my steps as I stepped on the wet grass gently.

On the first attempt, I felt something odd.

The land was supposed to feel soft, but it felt like there was some sort of wood beneath the grass.

I crouched down, placing a hand on it and a smirk curled up my face.

I was right, this is not just some grass. With a hand, I shoved the grass away as it was only used to hide what lay beneath.

My eyes landed on the plank used to cover the underground. “This is it”

One of the guards saw and called the attention of the others.

“We'll take care of it, Alpha” one of them said, making me stand up while I watched them take the plank away.

Then the underground was on display, steps attached to the wall, leading inside.

Sylvia was in here.

“Let's move in!” the captain whispered to the guards who bowed slightly and quickly started climbing the stairs down into the underground hideout.

I didn't stop them, but just watched as they moved. Then I got in after then, landing into the hideout to screams of people as the guards already had swords pointed at them.

My gaze landed on Sylvia who sat down comfortably, her darkened gaze darting from the guards to me.

My jaws tightened.

There were rogues in here, and my mate had been hiding among rogues.

She stood up, moving towards me.

“LEAVE THEM ALONE!” she gritted, but my gaze didn't leave her, every fibre of my being wanting her at the moment.
