Danger
Sylvia's POV
“Please……” I closed my eyes, breathing hard. “Let's just go our way”
One of the rogues chuckled. “It's the first time I'm seeing someone negotiating with people like us”
“I mean no harm, never had anything against rogues, so please…..” I said, like I was trying to pacify an infuriated wolf.
“You stepped into our territory, you don't get to tell us what to do” a rogue snarled.
“Attack!” one of them said and I didn't even know who said the words.
They shifted and damn! This was going to be a wolf fight.
“Zila….” I muttered my wolf's name. It had been long since I'd her her out, because of how hectic things kept turning at the penthouse and I hadn't expected to bring her out just to fight rogues.
I just hope she isn't weak at the moment.
I shifted backwards, watching the rogues. One of them attacked me, wanting to jump on me, but I slid downwards, shifting into my wolf as I turned back, attacking the same wolf.
My claws clashed with his, but I was sure I was able to leave marks on him.
The two others also attacked, the fight getting fierce and the minute passed by.
I thought I could handle them with ease, but they were powerful, having lived and trained in the wilderness.
One slashed my shoulder, and before I could retaliate, another slashed my other shoulder.
My wolf growled, staying back from them.
We can do this, Zila!”
My wolf lunged at them and the rogues also leapt up to attack, but when they almost touched me, I went down with speed, slashing two of them at the same time and I couldn't be less glad that Zila used all her energy to slash.
Those two immediately shifted back their human form, groaning as they held their side.
The remaining one of them snarled, growling at the same time.
I growled back, our fierce gaze battling there in the silence.
With his body, he picked the other two up and ran into the woods.
I breathed out a sigh of relief then turned back. Getting clothes on, I rested my back behind a tree.
Zila was exhausted, her whole energy drained.
Even my own powers were getting drained. Then I realized I had to stay out of trouble for a while.
I continued the journey, but couldn't stop feeling uneasy. I felt like people were following me, but I wasn't sure.
I didn't turn to check, didn't want them to figure out if truly there was someone there trailing behind me.
But after a few more minutes, the people who had been lurking in the shadows stepped out, forcing me to stop with a sentence.
“Tired already, Miss?” A male voice said.
I turned and my throat tightened when I landed my gaze on them.
Assassins. The one from the Creed.
I could tell these ones aren't fake, they were just sent here to kill me.
I wanted to tell them to leave me alone, maybe yell at them to go away, but I knew those words didn't exist in their dictionaries.
What existed was swords, arrows, poisons, war and death.
The five of them rushed towards me all at once and I unsheathed my sword, blocking their attacks though it was hard.
“Jemimah was skilled, but you had her killed” a male said, slashing my legs with his sword.
Blood spilled out, flying across the ground.
I groaned, but couldn't even bring myself to hold the leg.
“Jemimah was like a sister to me!” A female said the moment I tried to stand up again. But before I could, she slashed my shoulder, right at the exact place where the rogue had slashed earlier.
I staggered backwards, but still managed to stand, backing away from them.
“What? Is this personal?” I laughed.
“Yes and no, bitch!” Two of them rushed to me again, and my gaze darkened.
I turned around, not like someone who had just gotten hurt, but like someone who was determined not to die in the hands of these low assassins.
My sword swung forward, hitting no one and when I turned, I slashed the first male assassin who attacked me. From his belly, down to his face.
He fell to the floor and immediately, the rest rushed to me attacking all at the same time.
I expected them to be cunning and they were.
They threw blades to me, and I defended everything with my sword, my jaws tightened as I did so.
One assassin slid through my side, and while I tried to kick her back, I was only able to kick her sword off her hand. She appeared at my back as she stuck a blade into my neck herself.
I didn't flinch, didn't act like it hurts even though I felt like I was already dying.
I turned my sword to the back, driving it inside her as she groaned, her blood spilling onto my back.
She slumped down, falling to her side; dead.
My neck was hurting, and not only that, my blood was boiling, my head burning.
Poison. There was poison in that blade.
The rest moved towards me, one taking the lead as she tried to attack me. I wanted to defend, but her sword went through my stomach, driving through it to the back.
My eyes widened, face going pale all of a sudden. She withdrew the knife and tried to stab me again when I slashed her stomach so hard that her hands dropped and she fell.
The other two also came, but I finished them off in a second.
I held my stomach, helping myself to sit and rest my head on a tree.
Blood kept spilling out of my stomach and at the corner of my lips. The poison also hitting hard inside of me.
I was dying, life slowly slipping out of me and this time, the one person who had always saved me wasn't here…..because he was also on the hunt for me.
