The Planned Execution
Sylvia's POV
His feet dragged in the ground as he positioned himself, his darkened gaze on me. He lunged again, attacking while I unsheathed my sword, blocking his attacks.
I wasn't even given a chance to attack as the guy kept attacking, but suddenly he slowed down and while I attacked, stretching my sword to him, he stood still when I expected him to dodge, or at least shift to the back.
He just stood glued to the spot. My eyes widened as I tried to withdraw the sword that could almost have killed him, but was surprised when the guy stepped forward, pushing his body into the sword himself.
He groaned, the sword driving inside him and showing at his back.
My eyes widened in surprise as I processed what he just did. I could swear, I didn't kill him, he was the one who had killed himself right now.
He fell to the floor, and while I stood still, staring at him, footsteps echoed, people rushing to us.
Guards.
They surrounded us, their spears all pointed towards me like I had just murdered someone.
“Hey, he's just an assassin” I said to anyone who cared to listen.
Then their captain stepped forward, his gaze darting between me and the man who laid dead on the floor.
“Arrest her” he said, and two guards moved closer, trying to hold me.
I didn't let them. I held my sword to the neck of one of them, and the other froze.
“I might need an explanation for your actions, captain” I gritted to the army who looked like he could make anything happen at the moment with his look, anything except letting me go.
“You've killed a secret agent who the Alpha had chosen to investigate the involvement of some people in the stealing of funds in the penthouse” the captain said.
My gaze narrowed, and I let go of my sword, quickly crouching down beside the dead assassin on the floor.
I ripped his mask off his face and gasped. He wasn't an assassin, he was one of the guards who usually guards the Alpha's meeting hall.
But the dressing……the mask….they were surely the Creed's.
No.
Then I thought about it. The way he had intentionally stepped into my sword, making it look like I killed him.
It was planned. EVERY single fucking thing in here is planned.
The dead man? They must have paid him some money to die for their great cause. Stupid!
The army had been informed beforehand, if not, they wouldn't have arrived here so quickly.
And me? They were just trying to frame me up for a crime I didn't commit.
Murder wasn't something anyone would let slide.
I stood back up, contemplating on what to do.
I couldn't run. That would only make it more believable that I killed him, and if I go with them, it might be the end of my life.
They'll just have me killed, and Valen……he was gone, on a trip.
Perfect! Yeah, they chose a perfect time, a time when the only person who had ever protected me would be away, not only for tonight, but for two days.
“Seize her” the captain said again and the guards moved forward, only that this time, I didn't stop them.
They grabbed me, placing chains which I hadn't noticed they had before on me, then dragged me to the penthouse hall.
Funny how the council members were seated there like it was their usual stuff to have meetings like this at night.
Of course, they were part of the plan, waiting for me to be brought to them.
The captain shoved me into the hall, making me drop to my knees. The council members turned their gaze to me, acting surprised.
“It's a good thing you elders are still here” the captain told them.
“What happened? What has the Alpha's maid done this time?” One of the elders asked.
I scoffed. “At least, try not to pretend when we're alone. You guys planned this, I know”
I didn't give myself away in a way they'd think I was still doubting about it.
“We don't know what you're talking about, Sylvia” An elder said.
Before they could rant further, a voice rang from my back.
“Look who we have here; Sylvia” Vivienne stood in front of me. “Not even by herself, but in chains,” she laughed.
“Bitch!” I spat and she snapped her gaze to me, crouching down in front of me in a second.
She smirked. “I hope you can keep saying that when your head gets displayed to the public tomorrow”
I curled my fist, my rage seething through the shackles but I couldn't get it off me. If something was hurting, it wasn't the chains, but the fact that I couldn't do anything to Vivienne at the moment.
“Take her away” Vivienne gritted to the captain with her gaze still on me, and the loyal dog did exactly like she had said.
Still bound by chains, I was locked up in the prison.
When the prison lock clangs, I know that's where it ends.
The night felt long, the minutes dragging as they passed by, and it took longer than usual before morning came.
I knew because I was watching, counting the hours with my mind as that was the only thing I could do all through the night.
By morning, the captain came to get me himself, making me walk through the prison hallways, through the whole city to the market square barefooted.
Nice, Sylvia. Now nice the trouble you got yourself in this time around is. What better humiliation is there than this.
Shoved onto the stage, I was made to kneel, the pack members assembling one by one after hearing that a show was being staged.
I guess rumors had gone around and someone had spread the story of how I had betrayed the penthouse that fed me, and sheltered me, then killed an innocent guy on an assignment because he discovered my hidden deadly acts.
I laughed to myself.
They had brought me here to execute me and all I could do was laugh. Coward!
Well, what could I do? There was no winning against the whole pack's poisoned minds.
