CHAPTER THIRTY

Chapter 30

Alpha Nathan's POV

I can't believe who I just saw. How is this possible?

"Drake?!" I exclaimed with excitement.

He stepped towards me with a smile, "You are welcome, your Highness. Please have a seat." Drake said.

I met Drake two years ago in the cave where some groups of rogues were about to kill him.

I was able to kill the rogues and save Drake. He told me he didn't have anywhere to go since the rogue had already killed his parents before they went after his life. I took him to my palace and offered him a job as my chief guard.

He was a very hard working man and a strong warrior.

After six months of his staying in my palace, the news got to me that some rogues had entered the pack's border and they had started killing people.

Drake was furious when he heard about the rogue's attack because of the way they had treated him in the past.

He offered to go and fight them with some of my warriors. I was told that he had been killed when he didn't return with the others.

I was so hurt and in pain because of the news of his death. I went to the war zone to look for his coups but I couldn't find his body.

After several searches, I decided to give up and accepted that he was dead.

"I was told that you were killed at the war front. I searched everywhere for you." I asked curiously while taking my seat opposite him.

He mustered a painful smile, "I was stabbed on that day and I never thought I would be able to survive it." he said while shaking his head.

"So, how come you were still alive?" I asked in anticipation.

He gulped down his wine and adjusted his seat, "I was stabbed severally on my back that the rogue thought I was dead. An old man saved me in the bush when he saw my haggard state. I have been living with him ever since then. He was the one that told me that your beta was looking for someone who can find your rejected mate for him."

"Wow, I am so happy that you are alive. It's good to see you again."

"Thank you, your Highness. I owe you my life." he appreciated.

"Now, back to business. How would you help me to find her?"

"Well, I need her picture and you will also tell me a bit about her friends and family with that, I will be able to know where my search will begin from as I will also extend it to another pack."

"Alright, everything you need will be provided as soon as possible," I assured him before leaving for the palace.

I met James chatting with some guards when I drove into the palace.

The guards ran to me, "You're welcome, your highlights." They bowed their head and greeted me.

James paced toward me," Welcome, your Highness. I have been waiting for you, how did it go? Were you able to see the man?" He asked as we were walking to my chamber.

"Guess who the person was?"

"Who?!" he asked curiously.

I halted on my track to gaze at him, "Drake, he was the same man that I went to meet."

James looked at me with surprise all over his face. " Drake? I thought he was dead," he asked and I narrated everything to him.

He was stunned as no one would ever believe that Drake could still be alive.

"Your Highness, I'm sorry, I need to leave now," James announced, suddenly.

I was surprised because I was hoping we could hang out together. "Why suddenly? Is anything the matter?" I asked, curiously.

"Mother just mind-link me now that she's ill and you know, she's the only one at home."

"I'm sorry about that, take care, and send my regards to her."

" Thank you, your Highness." he appreciated and he left.

I swung my door open and the room was dark but I could perceive the scent of the person in my room.

I switched on the light and I was shocked when I saw Yvonne sitting on my bed with a seen-through nightgown.

I groan as I can't understand why she can't just stick to Instructions.

"What are you doing here," I asked, coldly.

She stood up and paced towards me, "can't I come into my mate's room?" she asked with a serious tone.

"Don't you have your room? What do you want in my room" I asked as I stepped away from her.

"Why do I have to stay in a separate room when I can stay here with you? We just got married and you have not even met me yet, why? Why don't give yourself a chance to love me?!" she asked angrily.

"I need sometimes alone and I would appreciate it if you could do that for me by leaving my room right now," I said, coldly.

"Your Highness, but..."

"Get out!" I yelled out.

She reluctantly left my room and I went straight to the bathroom to take a warm bath before I went to bed.

I woke up and sat on my bed, thinking about my marriage to Yvonne.

I was frustrated as I didn't know what to do. I instantly get annoyed and irritated by her presence and my wolf has refused to accept her. "Did I do the right thing by marrying her?" I asked myself.

I gave her a separate room because I didn't want to mate with her as it also gave me time to find Catherine.

The sound of my door jolted me out of my thoughts.

I was surprised when James stepped in," Why are you here this early morning, is everything alright?" I asked, curiously.

He shook his head, "Everything is not alright your Highness." he said as he broke down in tears.

I was scared because this was the first time I had ever seen him like this.

"What could have happened to make him this broken?" I asked as I swiftly rose off the bed and moved up to his side as he continued weeping.
