CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

Chapter 22.

Catherine's POV.

My heart was pounding in my chest as the shadow was getting darker.

I snapped my head back and placed my hand on my chest as I sighed a sigh of relief when I saw that it was Lina.

" You got me scared," I said with a smile, placing my hand on my chest to calm myself down.

She smiled as she took a sit in front of me before collecting the ointment from the maid and ordered them to exit the room, " I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sneak in like that. I just wanted to know how you are faring and to apologize for my outburst earlier." she apologizes and bends down to rub the ointment on my ankle.

"It's okay. Are you still around? I thought you had left?" I asked as I was thinking maybe she had already left the palace.

"Yes, I forgot my credit card and I came back to get it," she said as she was massaging my ankle with the ointment.

"I was told you are running temperature, how are you feeling now and the little one in you?" she asked, as she rubbed my flat tummy.

"I am feeling better now," I responded.

She placed the ointment on the table after rubbing it continuously on my ankle.

She stood up and picked up her bag, " I need to take my leave now because I want to go shopping with my friend." she informed me while exiting my room.

I smile as I think of how nice Lina is even though she can get angry unnecessarily.

It has been four months since the doctor informed me not to stress myself and Alpha Ransfort made sure to keep an eye on everything I was doing and also assign a maid to only serve me.

He didn't believe me whenever I told him that I was okay as he made me go to work late and come back early although sometimes, he did teach me Masha arts. I continue to feel my wolf is now stronger because I can now shape shift easily.

I was busy with some paperwork in my office when my secretary informed me that Alpha Ransfort had requested to see me in his office.

I stood up as soon as I finished going through the paper in my hand before I made my way to Alpha Ransfort's office.

"Why is he requesting to see me? Did I do something wrong," I asked myself on my way to his office.

I knocked on the door twice after which I heard, "Come in," and I swung the door open.

I stepped into his office and met him sitting on his table, munching on an apple.

I stepped closer and I saw how breathtaking he looked in his outfit. He was wearing a white shirt with the top button opened which slightly revealed his bare chest with his hair neatly combed backward.

"Are you alright? " He asked softly, breaking me out of my trance.

"Yeah. Yeah..I'm fine, Your Highness." I stuttered and took a seat opposite him.

"You ask for me?" I asked.

"Yes. I discovered you haven't been eating well so I decided to order lunch for both of us," he said as he slipped down from his table and strolled to the other end of his office to pick two bags, his movements were elegant and slow as he stepped toward me with a smirk, placing the bags on the table and served me.

"You need to eat well because of the baby," he said as he was serving me the vegetables from his food.

I gaze at him, wondering why the almighty Alpha Ransfort whom all his pack feared and trembled at his presence is this caring and nice to me.

He doesn't care that the child wasn't his as he continues to treat me like a princess, the treatment I never got from my pack.

Alpha Ransfort pinched my nose playfully, jolting me out of my thoughts.

"Am I so handsome that you gaze at me like that, letting your food get cold?"

I blushed as I didn't realize that I had been staring at him for long. "Uhmm.... You are handsome, your Highness." I revealed, sincerely.

"Really!" he wink at me with a smile.

"Yes, Your Highness." I blushed as my face became red.

'"Mmm... Thanks for your compliment. Now eat your food." he ordered as he piled up his food for me to eat.

He poured fresh fruit juice into my cup and asked me to drink, "Thank you, your Highness." I appreciated and picked the juice to drink when I mistakenly split it on my dress.

Alpha Ransfor rose from his seat to get something to wipe it off for me.

"Here, let me help you." he offered as he continued to wipe the juice off my body. I felt butterflies dancing within me as I felt his gentle touch on me, sending my body electrifying like an electric current.

He gazed at me as he moved to wipe the stain of food off my lips, he bent down and he was so close to me that I could feel his breath on my skin before he gently kissed me with his wet lips.

I was stunned by his action as I stayed rooted to my seat almost forgetting to breathe with my heart pounding on my chest.

He pulled back and took two steps away from me while running his hand on his hair.

"I'm sorry about that, I... I was just emm... I'm sorry." he stuttered, avoiding my gaze.

"Emm.. it's okay, Your Highness." I said with my heart pounding.

He sat down and we continued eating in silence with Alpha Ransfort, glancing at me now and then.

Soon, we heard a knock on the door, and a lady dressed in a white top and a red mini skirt with heavy makeup, strolled in holding a bag in her hand, and gave me a cold glare before swaying her hips to Alpha Ransfort.

"Who is this lady and why is she glaring at me? Did she know me?" I murmured to myself.
