Chapter 116

Chapter 116
Amelia's POV

I thought that things were pretty much over for me when it brought me to the bush. I simply didn't know how to escape any longer now that everything had been taken away from me. I was already suspecting who the culprit was, who the main person was that was trying to get me out here in secret.

But when he appeared, having that layer, having that luxurious expression on his face, I couldn't have watched. "Shiva, finally I've got you to myself," he whispered, his voice having a slight undertone to it. I knew that he was not going to hesitate to harm me this time around. Right now, he was on his agenda and nothing was going to stop him, nothing at all. If he was allowed to have his way, I was aware that not only my dignity but everything else would be taken away from me. For all I knew, he had no intention of letting me survive whatever he was planning for me.

This thought filled me with complete dread. I didn't really know how to respond as he edged closer and closer to me. I shifted as quickly as possible until my back was pressed against a tree. He started looking at me now that he was very close up. He touched my dress and squeezed it a little in his hand.

"You wore a pretty dress," he started. "Did you wear it for me?"

I could hardly believe what he was trying to suggest. I tried to push him away, but someone was beside me now and holding me down in order to stop me from resisting him.

"Coward," I said. "Why don't you fight me face to face, man to man like we did the last time and see whether you've gotten better at combat?"

His face darkened. Obviously, he didn't want to be reminded about how it had taken place the last time and the defeat that he had suffered at my hands in a square fight.

"You have a sharp tongue," he said, whispering in my ear. The next words he said, however, they won't help you share. "But now no one's going to come, and I have more people than you have right now. You are utterly outnumbered," he continued, smiling at me.

I knew without a doubt that he was telling the truth. I didn't even need anybody to tell me that I was outnumbered, but now that he was saying this, I felt a strange fear rising up within me, and it was sounding much more serious and painful than it actually was. I did my best to put up a bold front, however, because I needed that confidence if I was going to really survive this, and I was intent on doing so.

"Very confident and very feisty you are," he said. "It will make it even more enjoyable once I subdue you. Now I'm going to ask you a question: would you like to live to tell this story? Would you like to live to cause a war? Because I'm pretty sure your dear Alpha King is going to make a war for your sake, considering how you reacted the last time that I talked to you at the party."

"You didn't just talk to me," I spat out at him, gritting my teeth. Of course, the Alpha would have reacted either way, but with what he had done at the party then, there was no way that the Alpha shouldn't react.

"Whatever," he said, shrugging. "So would you want a war and the death of many of your people as a result?" I heard him say.

I wondered what he was trying to drive at with what he was saying now. Of course, I didn't want a war, but why was he asking me? What did that matter? Was it not him that it depended on?

I shook my head. "I don't want a war," I started.

Suddenly he smiled at me. "Brilliant," he said. "If you don't really want a war, then I suggest you comply and make me enjoy this as much as I possibly can." He started. I could hardly believe my ears as he spoke. "Do you understand?" he questioned, raising an eyebrow. "If you don't comply with what I want you to, then I'm going to kill you in the process, and then there will be a war for sure, and many people are going to die. People that have already sacrificed themselves for your sake in bringing you here, according to what I've learned," he continued.

I glared at him through gritted teeth. He was trying to use that against me, trying to work my conscience against me and get me to be submissive. If he thought that he was going to guilt-trip me into doing whatever he wanted, to give him an easy time, then he was mistaken. I would fight to my last breath. Sure, those people had survived, but the few of them that had died were not going to suffer a wicked queen, and they were going to be proud of me in the afterlife because of how I would go down, if I went down at all.

"Your people are going to die too, many of them. And it's going to be your fault. So I guess we are even. I don't think my own people would mind after all," I told him.

He frowned at me, frowned at my words. "You don't seem to understand. You have already wronged them by letting a lot of them die for no just reason on coming here. Do you want to cause a lot more of them to die?" he asked.

Well, definitely no guilt-tripping me this time around, I thought to myself. Suddenly there was the sound of a car coming, driving at full speed. My eyes widened in shock as I looked to see Riker showing up out of the blue. I saw him making his move even before Davis had the thought of laying a finger on me. Davis, on his part, seemed to have already given up the whole host of negotiation with me, and I could see him raising my dress only to be punched in the teeth by Riker and knocked back brutally to fall on the ground.

I stared at him in shock. How had he known that we were here? Where was the Alpha? The questions rang in my head over and over again as I saw the fight taking place immediately. I soon started panicking a little when I saw how the fight was going on and who we were up against. His men were more, but all of a sudden more men came to join Riker to support him, and the Alpha was among them.

Someone started to whisk me off away in secret since I was already tied up, unable to defend myself. I tried my best to struggle, tried to scream and draw attention to myself. They were here to save me now, were they not? Why didn't they focus on me more than any other element of the battle and wipe up everything? They should have fixated on me and stopping this guy from doing something so secretive in the open. I did my best to alert them, but it was impossible. Soon enough, I was being captured away.

He didn't have a vehicle, or maybe he just didn't put me in one because he thought that it was going to be very risky and the sound of the engine revving was going to alert people of his escape with me. I had no idea what he intended for me. Maybe he wanted to sell me off into slavery or something like that. But I knew one thing was for sure: if I was going to get out of this, then I needed to depend on myself and no one else.

And so I planned systematically, slowly contemplating all the elements of the bushes and the forest and then using it to my advantage by stepping on the ground stiffly and making him fall over, tripping on a branch in front of him as he attempted to take me away further than he had already. He fell down, and I used my body weight to shift and cut my bands on a sharp tree branch that was somewhere aside. After that, I didn't even bother to fight him. I simply ran back and found that the Alpha seemed to already be happily looking for me.

I ran back into the waiting arms of the one I had hated before and now had come to love. On his part, he was more than welcoming, and the consolations he gave me, the soft kisses at intervals, the tears in my eyes, also gave me a feeling of comfort. I knew without a doubt that however things continued from here, it was going to be the two of us in it together, and he would never let me go again. He would never let anyone get through to harm me, and because of that, I was safe.
