Chapter 49 TWO SISTERS, ONE THRONE OF LIES
Medea's POV
The transformation I saw before my eyes was so quick and jarring that, even though I witnessed it from start to finish, it nearly threw me off balance, and it took me a moment to hold myself together.
I no longer saw that snobbish young woman who saw herself above me but instead my little sister clinging to the hem of my dress and asking when we were going to have our next meal.
For a second I wondered if I had gone too far if the blow was just a little bit too low, then she transformed back to the person she had now become, the one that looked so different from my sister that I was left to question if it was really the same person or just my imagination.
"You want to know what the plan is?" She asked in a tone that still sounded degrading and from what she said next apparently I was right on the money, "the plan is that there is no plan for you, let me take care of everything don't ask any questions and don't try to figure out what I'm doing just do what you are told and report everything back to me."
I felt insulted by that mere suggestion, sure I could admit to myself I didn't get the better portion of the brains in the family and that was mostly her, after all she was the one who suggested that we work as servants and then build our way up she was always the one who came up with the plan. I was the one who executed it for her.
I thought that by now she would be involving me a little bit more but turns out she was even pushing me away more than she had done before in the past.
Treating me as if I were no more than a puppet.
I wanted to argue with her to yell in her face that she would be nowhere without me but then I decided to give it a second thought and it would probably just be a waste of good breath, she would just throw another insult at me that would make me feel worse and I would leave here probably in tears so instead of that I would glide out of here with most of my dignity then I would do something so outstounding she would feel stupid for ever and I estimating me.
I picked up my purse and prepared to leave, already heading towards the door. Suddenly she rushed towards me and grabbed my arms.
"That was too easy," she said and I quickly gave her a funny look cocking up my left eyebrow.
"What? I listen to your advice and I'm doing the wrong thing and when I don't it's also wrong maybe I can't just do anything right in your eyes at all,"
A flash of guilt ran through her eyes and she pulled away a little bit but her fingers remained in a loose grip around my hand.
"What I mean is that normally you would have argued a little bit more before you agreed but you just accepted it. It's giving me a bad feeling that's all."
I guess we were still sisters after all she must probably be predicting that I'm going to go off the rails which is why I have to deceive her and make her think otherwise.
"The most important thing to me is getting rid of that woman you have already been able to do it before so there's no need to doubt you now, I'm going to take you advice even if it means sitting down and acting like a doll unless tell me to move, are you satisfied with that or do you need to tie puppet strings to my hand?"
She looked at me as if she was seriously considering the thoughts and then finally released me.
"All right, fine against my better judgment, I am going to trust you, but remember what I said, don't try to act out on your own. Both of us are a team and we're here to support each other. After all, we have the same goal, don't we?"
I felt like a toddler being spoken down to by a parent as they tried to calm me down from throwing a tantrum.
It took everything inside me to hold back the hiss that just wanted to screech through my lips.
Who did this brat think she was?
Comes up with a few good plans and then assumes that she's better than me, it was my fault for coming here in the first place I'm laying out my problems to have in the end she is the one who will be able to run off if things go south but it won't be so easy for me. I'm the one at a bigger risk so I can't go sitting around like a duck.
I stepped out of her house, and as I reached the porch I began to rack my brain. I had to come up with a plan so brilliant that it would completely shock everyone, especially my sister, and it would also get me out of my current predicament.
But what could that solution be?
As I was pounding on this my chauffeur came to me, he bowed and informed me that he had just received a message from the pack house, that Raphael wanted me back there.
What the heck is going on?
We agreed this morning that I was not going to show up for the meeting, turns out it's not only my sister who underestimates me what a surprise-he said I wouldn't have to show my face and he was even going to have a servant write out an apology letter which he would give to them.
Now I was being summoned.
What happened to the apology letter?
He told me I wouldn't have to worry about this and now all the time that I thought I had is out the window I'll have to think of a solution quickly.
