Chapter 39

Savannah’s POV

We continued our walk deeper into town. There was no sign of Dalia, Jeremy or one of his minions. I knew that people could see me and might think I was insane, so I put in my earbuds to make it seem as if I was talking on the phone with someone.

“Hey, wait!” - when I turned around I saw Zamyr. He was running towards me.

“I missed you too!” How come you're here?” - I asked him with a subtle wink.

“I'm spying on Dalia. Why are you here?”

“Same thing. Is everything okay?”

“Yeah now that I saw you. I want to punch him badly, but I don't want to cause trouble.”

“Don't worry. I've already kicked his behind. Twice to be precise.”

“One of which was because you took me by surprise. As for the other, you literally attacked me from behind. King Zamyr, I find it awfully suspicious that you're here.”

“General Gabriel, why is that?”

“As far as I know, you haven't been to Salem before. And now you're here at the same time as Savannah. How did you know?”

“I don't know what you're talking about.”

“Guys, I don't want to intrude, but I don't think we're safe here. Dalia can still see us and put two and two together. We should continue walking.”

“Okay, but tell us first King Zamyr, what did you find?”

“Nothing, but it's too quiet and I don't like that.”

All I wanted to do was hug Zamyr, but I couldn't until we were away from humans. Seeing me hugging the air might land me in an asylum. Everything was peaceful and we reached the witches' neighborhood. Nicole was on her way, possibly to meet me somewhere.

“Savannah, I'm so glad you're okay. Who are all these people?”

“Good to see you too, Nicole. This is Zamyr, the King of the fae. This is Gabriel. He and the others are angels.”

“Why is everyone recognizing you Savannah?”

“Zamyr is my mate, so that's obvious. And I told you the witches will recognize their coven leader. Anyway, is there a place we can talk freely, Nicole. I think Gabriel's brain got a bit fired.”

“Sure thing. Follow me, you can talk at my house.”

Poor Gabriel was still trying to find the missing pieces, but he couldn't. Beside him Ezekiel was just shaking his head and smiling. I managed to break Gabriel within twenty minutes into the mission. Ezekiel might've figured out that Zamyr and Nicole knew exactly where to find us, but didn't say anything.

“Your grandmother will have my head, Savannah.”

“Why? I'm not doing anything reckless or stupid.”

“I promised her to keep you away from everybody and yet half of the town knows you're here and for some utter coincidence even your mate.”

“So don't tell her.”

“I have to give her a detailed report of the mission. That includes all the people we talked to.”

“What else can she do apart from locking me up again and never letting me go?”

“Savannah's right. You're too tense.”

“King Zamyr, you don't understand the severity of the situation.”

“I understand it just fine. I've known Savannah for longer than you. She might be reckless from time to time, but she's always careful. What's it even to you to protect her to this extent?”

“You didn't tell him?”

“No. I didn't tell anybody.”

“What is he talking about, Savannah?”

“Nothing too concerning.”

“Really? I think your mate deserves to know that he'll have to share you until we all die.”

“That’s not possible.”

“Oh, it is. I'm her mate too and I'm not planning to give up on her.”

The cat was out of the bag. For a pregnant pause nobody moved, then Zamyr charged and threw a punch at Gabriel. Within seconds they were kicking and punching each other.

“Stop it! What the hell are you two doing?”

It was futile. They weren't listening and nobody was planning to interfere. I had enough and threw a magic ball at them, separating them successfully. While I had the chance I stepped between them.

“What are you doing? Have you lost your mind?”

“Savannah, tell me he's joking.”

“Zamyr, listen to me. He's telling the truth. I haven't told you, because this wasn't a topic of a phone call. I wanted to tell you in person and not this way. I don't know how or why, but I have two mates.”

“I think I need some time to think. I won't leave until you do, but I just need to be alone for a while.”

“Okay. Take your time.” - with that he started walking in the opposite direction.

“Are you happy now? Why did you have to tell him this way?”

“I swear I didn't know that he'd react like this.”

“Then why did you throw punches back at him?”

“I was just giving him what he wanted. I'm sorry.”

“It doesn't matter now. I'm so sorry Natalie for this disturbance.”

“It's fine. Nobody got hurt.”

When we reached her house she ushered us in. The others, apart from Gabriel and Ezekiel, stayed outside.

“What do you want to know?”

“Queen Seraphina sent us on a mission to discover Dalia's and Jeremy's plan.”

“It's just gossip, but they're looking for the source of the dark magic. I'm not sure that's the case though.”

“Yeah, that's true.”

“Oh, God! Then that's why they need a witch.”

“What do you mean?”

“Jeremy's been asking around. They want to find a witch who's willing to betray you, Savannah. Don't worry, everybody turned him down.”

“That's good. Is everything else okay?”

“Yeah, don't worry.”

“Thank you Natalie for your assistance, but we should go now. We got everything we needed.”

“Gabriel, I have to find Zamyr. I won't go back until I talk to him.”

“Ten minutes then we're leaving.”

“Thank you.”

I said goodbye to Natalie and left. I found Zamyr immediately as I stepped onto the pavement.

“I'm not happy about this predicament, but I'll slowly learn to cope with it if that's what you want.”

“Honestly, I don't know what I want. All I know is that I don't want to lose you. You mean a lot to me and I think I love you, Zamyr.”

“I love you too, Savannah and I don't want to lose you either.”

With that he pulled me towards him and kissed me. It was slow and he poured every ounce of love into that kiss. I kissed him back saying everything I needed to say. Eventually I had to break the kiss because of the lack of oxygen.

“We're leaving in a few minutes. I have to go back. So much happened in the last few days. I'll call you tonight and tell you everything. Okay?”

“Okay. I trust you and please be careful. I love you, Savannah, with everything I have.”

“I’ll be careful. I love you too.”

They were waiting for me. Gabriel grabbed my hand and just like that we were gone.

“What did he say?”

“Everything is okay. He said he'll try to accept that you're my mate too.”

“Perfect. Come with me. The Queen is waiting for us.”

And indeed she was. When we stepped into the palace she put the seal back on me. I only know that because I felt something click in me. She didn't waste any time to lock me back up.

“Was everything okay?”

“Yes, my Queen. No trouble.”

“And I hope when I get the report I'll read this sentence too.”

“Of course, my Queen.”

“Now, Savannah, I just got the news from the seers five minutes ago. Dalia will find a witch in the near future who'll help her.”
