Chapter 34

Savannah's POV

Despite the circumstances a huge smile was displayed on my face. I figured that Zamyr loved me, but hearing the words from him made me happier. But this happiness was short-lived. Now I had to take care of my bedroom arrangements. There was no way that I'd share a bedroom with Gabriel. One, he kidnapped me. Two, we met only days ago and he was profusely sending magic balls towards me. I found him in the living room with a book in his hands.

“Is everything okay?” - he asked me.

“Yes, they're fine. Now what was that about moving my stuff into our bedroom?”

“I'm not following. Where was I supposed to take your stuff?”

“To a guest bedroom, obviously.”

“I don't have a guest room. There's only a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom with a bathroom and a walk-in closet and my study.”

“So where am I supposed to be sleeping? In the living room?”

“Why would you sleep in the living room? I just told you there's a bedroom.”

“You don't get it, do you? I'm not sharing a room and a bed with you.”

“Why? It's natural to sleep in the same bed with your soulmate.”

“I just met you and you attacked us.”

“When will you let that go? I told you I'm sorry. There's a sofa in the bedroom. I'll sleep on that. Is that okay?”

“Fine. That's better than nothing. I'll go pack now, but I wonder how all my stuff got here.”

“If I tell you I packed it will you be mad?”

“Only the things at my parents' house?”

“Not exactly. Everything you own is here?”

“You broke into Maddie's house?”

“I didn't have a choice.”

“Unbelievable. I don't know how you pulled that off, but I can't even be that mad. I'm too much in a good mood for that now.”

“I'm relieved. I'll be here if you need me. Don't forget about dinner today.”

“I can't wait. Is there a dress code?”

“I detect sarcasm. And I suggest you wear a dress.”

“Perfect.”

This was the first civil conversation I had with Gabriel. I was telling myself that I wasn't mad at him because of Zamyr's confession. Thinking about it I realized I wasn't mad at him in general. I was getting soft. It had to be the mate bond. Packing didn't take as long as I guessed. Having magical powers sure came in handy. It was strange seeing my clothes next to male ones. The bedroom was big and cozy. Especially the bed. It looked like I would sleep on clouds if I actually was to lay down on it.

I got dressed after Gabriel gave me some privacy. He only said to wear a dress. There were definitely more clothes in the wardrobe than I owned. I chose a beautiful azure colored dress that reached my knees. It wasn't too fancy, but not too simple either. Once I found my white sandals I was ready. Apart from some mascara, I haven't put on make-up. I wasn't planning on impressing anyone. When I was ready I went to the living room. Gabriel was already there, waiting for me.

“You look amazing!”

“Thank you. Let's go and get this over with.”

“Don't be so sour. They'll love you.”

“I'm not sure about that. She won't let me go anywhere that's not in this realm.”

“She just wants to protect you. She lost her son once and she doesn't want to lose her only granddaughter.”

“But she doesn't realize that this is the way she'll lose me. I have a responsibility and she just cut me off from them.”

“Then convince her to let you go.”

“How? She cannot be reasoned with.”

“I'm sure she can. You just have to find a way to do that.”

“Would you let me leave?”

“If you're not planning to return, absolutely not. I can't lose you.”

“I don't know. I just got dragged into this. I made peace with being a witch and having one soulmate. Then I found out I'm also an angel. I made peace with that too. Then you showed up and everything changed. Now I'm here and I don't know what to do.”

“I know that this is hard, but try to adapt. Our realm is almost the same as Earth.”

“Yeah, I wanted to ask about that? How is this possible?”

“Who do you think gave all those ideas to humans? It was us.”

“Really? How?”

“It's known that humans can't see the supernatural world. We found a loophole. Geniuses have their brains wired differently. They can't see us, but they can hear us. They think it's their subconscious, but in reality it's us.”

“So, they're crazy?”

“Definitely not. They're just different. Anyway, we have to go if we don't want to be late. We have to walk to the palace.”

“What about flying? Don't you have wings?”

“We have, but we use them when it's absolutely necessary. Our clothes will be ripped when our wings are out. We tried every material, but none of them can stand that kind of pressure. I know, I know. How is that possible? It happened when we abandoned our old clothing. We created the veil, so it takes us anywhere.”

“Have you considered using the old clothes?”

“Not really. Every race is evolving. We can't get stuck in the past.”

“Can you show me a picture of the palace? I don't feel like walking.”

“What are you planning to do?”

“Open a portal. The only downside is that I have to see the place I want to go.”

“Here.”

After I saw the picture I opened a portal and told Gabriel to go. Just as I stepped through it, an arrow barely missed me by an inch.

“What the hell? Is this the warm welcome you were talking about?”

“I'm so sorry, Princess. I didn't know it's you.”

“Savannah, I didn't know that portal traveling is this accurate. There are guards stationed outside the palace.

“Well, why do you think I asked you to show me a picture? And it's fine. Nobody got hurt, just don't shoot at me next time, please.”

“Of course, Princess. I'm truly sorry, once again.”

“Now I know that it's accurate, Savannah. Let's go, they must be waiting for us.”

The palace was huge, just like I expected. Nobody was waiting for us by the door which surprised me a little. I expected a butler or at least a maid, but I was wrong. Gabriel led the way towards a dining room. My family from my dad's side was already seated at the table. They were chatting and having a good time. Once they saw us they stopped talking. My dad was here too and he smiled at me encouragingly. There were two empty chairs next to him, probably for us.

“I'm glad you made it, Savannah. Why don't you sit down so we can get to know you and vice versa?”

Without saying anything I approached my dad. I was still mad at my grandmother for keeping me hostage, but I obliged. If I wanted to get out of here I had to act like a little obedient girl.

“I'm sorry, but your grandfather can't be here. He had to join a meeting. You already know me. These are your uncles, Samuel and Michael and your aunts Evangelina and Laila. The triplets are Zadkiel, Raziel and Castiel. The twins are Angelo and Cael.”

“Nice to meet you. I'm still mad at my grandmother, but you didn't do anything. So, I guess, we can establish some sort of connection.”

“Why are you mad at me?”

“You really want me to say it out loud? You're keeping me here against my will. Is that a good enough reason?”

“It's for your own good. I've lost your father and I didn't even know you existed.”

“And why do you think you lost him? He found his soulmate who's a witch. He told me your beliefs about purity. And now he can't even contact her because of you.”

“He needs to face the consequences. He's the heir to the throne and he left without a word. The whole race depends on him.”

“Then what about my uncles? Why can't they take over?”

“It's not their destiny. Only the chosen one can rule.”

“Then let my mother come and live here with us.”

“Witches can't enter Heaven.”

“Yet here I am. What's this then?”

“You're also an angel. That part of you allows you to cross the veil.”
