Chapter 28 Jennifer Kicks Captain Bryan Out!
Jennifer suddenly spoke quickly when Gerald was almost at the door of the room.
"Wait a minute! It's not you who should leave, Gerald, but... I'm sorry, Captain Smith, please don't push it anymore! My son needs rest, he just woke up, oh my God... So please leave!" Jennifer turned her face away after saying that.
Gerald, who heard this, looked happy and hurriedly turned back to Jennifer's side.
“You’re kicking me out, Jennifer? Are you sure he’s not guilty? I’m just trying to help you! Protect you! You know he’s rich in LA he can twist the facts! He’s not as clean as you think! I’m sure he’s the mastermind behind everything!” Captain Bryan was furious.
Gerald was angry and cursed Captain Bryan, "Once again, you say I'm the culprit, Captain Smith! I... can... sue you!"
"I'm not afraid! I'm sure you're hiding something!" Captain Bryan challenged Gerald.
"You...!" Gerald was about to advance again, but was held back by Jennifer, who shook her head.
Jennifer looked at Gerald with complete confidence, "I believe him! He's not the culprit!"
"You're too naive! Listen..."
"Guards!!!" Gerald shouted, and shortly afterwards, two guards entered.
"Yes, Mr Williams?" said one of the guards.
"Get him out of here!"
The two guards restrained Captain Bryan's body.
"What the hell is this? Let me go! I can walk myself!" Captain Bryan tried to break free from the two guards who were dragging him out.
Captain Gerald turned to Jennifer and Alex alternately.
"You'll regret this, Jennifer!" Captain Bryan's face looked disappointed as he walked to the exit.
"Go!!!" Gerald shouted.
Annoyed, Captain Bryan left Alex's treatment room.
Gerald approached Jennifer, "You're okay, right?"
Jennifer shook her head, "No! It's just that I feel bad, after all, he did help us!"
"I know... you're too kind, Jenny, sometimes! That's why you're easily taken advantage of and can't see when someone is evil!" said Gerald as he hugged Jennifer again.
"Like you?" replied Jennifer quickly.
Gerald loosened his embrace, "Me? How could I take advantage of you! If you're referring to last night... wasn't it you who seduced me..."
Jennifer quickly covered Gerald's mouth, "Alex is still here! Be quiet!"
"Okay!! You mean if Alex wasn't here, then..." Gerald teased Jennifer again when she took her hand away from his mouth.
"Gerald!!" Jennifer glared at Gerald.
“I was joking!! Hi Alex, it seems like we haven’t finished our introduction, right? Because someone interrupted us earlier?” Gerald approached his son again.
"Ehmm!" Alex just nodded.
"Let me introduce myself, my name is Gerald Williams, 30 years old, as you know... I'm your father! I've been looking for you for years but I couldn't find any trace of you. It was only yesterday, after your mother came to my office to work... unfortunately, I was too late to recognise your mother! And as you know, I fired her, after I realised… I came to your apartment to apologise and ask you to come back to my house, but… your mother refused my help… and… you probably know the rest, right?" Gerald extended his hand and was greeted by Alex's small hand.
“I’m Alexander Ross, 5 years old. I knew it from the start… You must be my father… your eyes… They're just like mine! And… Martha said so, too!” said Alex.
Gerald let go of their hands, "Martha? What did she say?"
"Not much! Only that Martha said she was there to look after me on my father's orders! Who else could it be but you? Mum doesn't have any male friends she knows in this city except... You and Captain Bryan!" Alex said again.
"Really? Are you sure? I'm not so sure about that! Your mother is quite popular with men! At least in the last two days, I've already sent away two of her male admirers!" Gerald teased Jennifer, who glared at him.
"That's my mum!" Alex joked.
Gerald and Alex laughed together. Gerald asked again after their laughter subsided.
"But are you angry? Because I secretly put people on your side?" Gerald was a little worried about Alex's reaction, but then Alex said something that relieved him.
"No! Martha said it's because you love us!" Alex said softly, looking down.
"Do you really love us? Then where have you been all this time, Dad? Sometimes... I envy other children who have both parents! They can play with their Mum and Dad! Whereas I only have Mommy!" Alex said again.
Gerald's throat was dry, his mouth unable to speak.
Gerald approached Alex and hugged him gently.
“Sorry! I’m sorry I found you guys so late! I should have come sooner! I should have tried harder to find you!” Gerald was a little sad and moved.
“It’s okay, Dad! At least we got to see each other today, right?” Alex exclaimed.
Gerald nodded. And hugged Alex again. Not long after, Doctor Moore appeared and witnessed the touching scene.
"Well, how is our wonderful boy today? It turns out he's awake, right?" exclaimed Dr Moore kindly.
"Fine, Doc! Just a little weak and dizzy earlier..." Alex exclaimed.
"Oh, is that so? In that case, may I examine him first?" Dr Moore asked again.
"Go ahead, Doctor!" Gerald moved aside to make room for Dr Moore.
"Alpha! I need to talk to you! About Captain Smith!" John whispered in Gerald's ear.
Gerald nodded.
"Doctor, Jenny, I'm going out for a bit! I have something to discuss with John! Doc, you can tell Jennifer the results! I'm going out for a bit!" Gerald said seriously.
"All right, Mr. Williams, is there anything I should discuss with you first before telling Mrs. Ross?" Dr. Moore asked before examining her.
"No need! Just tell Jennifer, she has the right to know!" Gerald smiled and then walked over to Jennifer.
Gerald kissed her forehead, and Jennifer was surprised again.
"I'm going out for a bit, okay?" Gerald called out again.
"Be good, boy! Listen to what Doctor Moore and your mother say, okay?" Gerald called out to Alex.
"Okay, Dad!"
Gerald stepped out of his son's room and walked slowly for a moment.
"Wait, John! We'd better sit on that long chair! I think it's safe enough because no one would dare to walk through this floor, since I've rented it exclusively! Besides, I don't want to leave Alex and Jenny for too long! Especially since Alex just woke up!" Gerald said, pointing to a chair not far from his son's room.
John smiled, "It seems like you've changed, Alpha!"
"What do you mean?" Gerald didn't understand what John was trying to say.
John smiled again, "You seem to have become a family man! You've become gentler, and you seem to smile a lot more and look happier!"
Gerald smiled back at John, "Of course! They're my family! My happiness! My six-year-long wait has finally paid off... I feel whole, John!
"I understand, Alpha. I know how tirelessly and relentlessly you searched for them! I'm happy for you, Alpha!" John looked a little moved.
"Thank you, John! So what do you have to report about Captain Bryan? Quick, tell me! I don't believe he's clean, John! It's like he's hiding something!" Gerald exclaimed again.
"In my opinion..."
