Chapter 106
It still felt surreal to know that the battle was finally over. A part of her knew that all the fighting and running she had done that past few years was over, but she still half expected Thornbury to open his eyes and try to kill her again.
Even as she watched the Lycan warriors fit his body into a body bag, she still couldn’t believe that he was finally dead. And the fact that she had killed him herself didn’t feel real either. The doubt and anxiety were so clear on her face that even Hannah could tell what she was thinking as they both stood by and watched the Lycans work.
“It's okay, Luna”, Hannah said as she rubbed her arm while holding her steady. “It’s finally over. He can’t hurt you anymore.”
“I know, Hannah”, Amelia sighed. “I just… It just doesn’t feel real yet.”
She finally managed to peel her eyes away from Thornbury’s body when the Lycans had completely zipped up the body bag. Looking away from them, she glanced at Michael who was hard at work collecting as much evidence as he could from Thornbury’s private surveillance station and computer.
They had initially struggled to acquire evidence of his involvement in the attacks on Amelia and the Silver Lake pack, but now they had everything they needed to justify going to war with him.
When he was done, Michael put his drives away and turned to return to Amelia and Hannah. Looking at the other side of the room, Amelia remembered the open safe she had seen earlier during the conflict.
“Don’t forget the blood samples”, Amelia said as she gestured to the safe.
Michael couldn’t stop the scowl that formed on his face as he walked over to the safe with the blood samples. He was infuriated that a father would ever treat his child like a product instead of a person. And these were a reminder of the lengths he was willing to go to achieve his goal.
Retrieving a nearby storage box, Michael bagged all the samples and any file folders stored in the safe and he still had a frown on his face when he rejoined the group.
“It’s time we get you back home”, Michael said to Amelia.
Amelia could only manage a weak nod as she turned to leave the office with Hannah still helping to hold her upright. Michael made sure to walk in front of them as he was still trying to guard her until he could pass her on to her mate. The Lycan warriors held onto the body bag as they followed closely behind Amelia and Hannah.
From the lack of gunfire, they could all tell that the fighting had finally stopped around the castle. Walking through the castle, they were met with the scenes of Half Moon wolves surrendering to the Silver Lake warriors as they swept through the entire castle without resistance.
They kept walking until they arrived at the balcony with a grand staircase leading down to the entrance hall on the ground level. When they arrived at the top of the stairs, they saw the remaining Half Moon warriors all gathered together in the middle of the room as they were surrounded by the Silver Lake invading force.
As they descended the stairs, Amelia noticed that familiar head of greyish-black hair facing away from her. Jason immediately whips around to look at her when he notices her scent. And she could finally see that it was indeed her mate standing before her. She had been so scared that Thornbury had been lying to her that she didn’t allow herself to completely believe that Jason was alive.
The relief at finally seeing his face with her own eyes made her break into a silent sob. And the sight of her tears made him abandon all propriety and run up the stairs to be with his mate.
He scooped her into his arms and held her tight as she wrapped her arms around his neck. They didn’t care who else was there with them, all that mattered was that they were finally together again. When he finally pulled away from her, Jason brushed the hair out of her face before he held her face in his hands. She finally smiled up at him when she placed her hands on his chest to confirm to herself that he was standing in front of her.
“Mine”, she said as she looked into his piercing blue eyes.
“Mine”, he replied before he kissed her tenderly on the lips.
He then reached for her legs and picked her up into his arms while she wrapped her arms around his neck again. He then felt her body relax against his which made him panic for a moment before he realised that she had just lost consciousness. The tension seemed to have left her body making her feel weak and fall asleep instantly.
Holding her in his arms, he kissed her on her forehead before he headed back down the stairs. Jason walked across the hall towards Patrick and he could see the relief on Patrick’s face that his granddaughter was alive and well. As he stood in front of his father-in-law, Patrick patted Amelia’s head as he smiled at her.
“You should go”, Patrick finally said to Jason. “We’ll handle things here.”
Jason looked like he was about to protest as he glanced at Amelia sleeping in his arms. He was torn between taking care of his mate and finishing the job that he had started when he invaded Half Moon.
“Patrick’s right, Jace”, Michael said as he came to stand next to Jason. “You need to go and take care of your mate. We’ll finish with things here.”
He glanced at his Beta and his Mentor and nodded his understanding. They already knew how anxious he was about getting Amelia back home safely. And now that Thornbury and Half Moon had been dealt with, nothing was stopping him from caring for her.
As he walked out of the castle with Amelia in his arms, Michael called for Thomas and his team to guard their Alpha and Luna as they returned to the pack. The journey out of the castle and to the waiting SUV convoy was a short one, but on their way out all of the wolves bowed to their Alpha and all of the Lycans hit their chest with their fists in respect.
Thomas held the door open for Jason as he entered the vehicle while holding onto Amelia. He then got into the vehicle as they made their way back to their pack.
The sun was already rising to mark the start of a new day, and despite this, the journey back to Silver Lake would take most of that day. But Jason couldn’t wait until they got back home to make sure that Amelia was okay.
He ran his fingers through her hair and felt around the areas where she appeared to have blood stains. He was relieved to see that the injuries on her scalp were already closing. He then ran his fingers down her neck and to her injured shoulder. Although the wound there hadn’t completely closed, he could see her body fighting to repair the damage. Running his fingers down her legs, he made sure that she had no more cuts and broken bones.
Relieved that she seemed relatively okay, he leaned down and kissed her at the top of her head. And his anxiety finally seemed to ebb when he saw her nuzzle into his chest as she slept.

Everyone in Silver Lake had been on high alert while their warriors had gone to war with Half Moon. They had been worried that another pack would think they were vulnerable now that a majority of their warriors were absent. To combat this, Pete had mobilized every off-duty warrior and doubled the patrols around the pack lands.
And he had managed to keep everyone busy and distracted as they waited anxiously for the return of their warriors back to the pack.
This was why it was a huge relief when they received word in the early hours of the morning that the battle was over and they had been successful. In not just defeating Half Moon and taking down Thornbury, but also in rescuing Amelia.
And now it was the next evening after the battle and the Alpha’s convoy was now pulling up in front of the pack house. Pete watched nervously as Thomas got out of the car and opened the door for Jason to step out of the vehicle with Amelia in his arms.
“Lia!” Pete exclaimed as he ran towards them.
Opening her eyes for a moment, Amelia raised her hand to hold Pete’s hand and give him a reassuring squeeze before she fell asleep again. It was obvious that what she had gone through had taken quite a toll on her body.
“I have to get her to the hospital”, Jason said to Pete who seemed to want to refuse to let go of her hand.
“Yes, of course!”, Pete said as he placed her hand comfortably and stepped aside for his Alpha.
Taking a few steps towards the hospital, Jason stopped and looked back at Pete who had remained where he was standing with a dejected look on his face.
“What are you doing, Pete?” Jason asked. “We need you.”
Jason was already aware of how down Pete felt at not following them into battle to rescue his sister alongside his brothers. So Pete seemed to finally light up at Jason’s words before he rushed over to Jason and Amelia.
“Yes, Alpha”, Pete said as he followed Jason on the short walk to the Hospital.
